MY ONE NIGHT STAND WITH MR ARROGANT

Liam walked into the room taking off his wrist watch, he took a glance at her suspiciously. “What is going on in that silly mind of yours?”

“What do you mean?” She asked touching her face that was sweating.

“Are you alright?”

He worriedly asked seeing her sweat, he checked the Aircon but it was still functioning.

“Yeah I’m okay”

Liam noticed that she avoided making eye contact with him. He walked towards her pulling her face upwards.

“Are you scared or something? talk to me”

Amelia closed her eyes cursing Louisa for putting her in this situation.

Liam frowned, her behavior was really weird even more than always.

She moved back from him and left the room leaving him puzzled.

“She is definitely up to something”

Amelia entered Chloe’s room to find her in a sleepy state with the maid by her side reading a bedtime story for her.

As soon as the maid saw her, she stood up from the side of the bed to grant Amelia access.

“Thanks you may leave now”

The maid bowed before leaving the room, Amelia sat on the bed beside Chloe and stroked her hair slowly she knew how hard it must be for her to be separated from her parents at such a young age.

“I’m sorry sweetheart for separating you from your mum and dad, I couldn’t let you suffer for what you knew nothing about and your big brother is making things really difficult for you”

Chloe moved in her sleepy state and placed her head on Amelia’s lap.

“Sleep tight”

Meanwhile Liam closed his laptop, he looked at the time and sighed Amelia should have been here by now.

He walked towards his drawer taking out a lighter and a cigarette.

He placed the cigarette in his mouth while he lit the bottom.

Liam turned towards the window staring at the stars that glittered the sky. He took his time to think about what has transpired in the last couple of months that passed by so quickly.

He was so lost in his thought that he failed to realize that Amelia stepped into the room.

Amelia’s eyes scanned the room and when she didn’t see him in sight she sighed in relief. “Is something burning?” she sniffed the air walking towards the balcony which was covered with dark thick curtains.

Liam snapped out of his thoughts as soon as he heard her sneeze and cough.

He threw down the cigarette and went into the room.

“Were you smoking?”

Liam raised both hands a little “No, I quit smoking for sometime now”

He defended walking towards the bed, Amelia was no fool she smelt the burnt cigarette around him as he passed by her side.

She really wasn’t in the mood to argue with him over such trivial issues, what bothered her was Louisa’s words which kept ringing in her head for quite sometime now.

She bit her lower lip thinking of how to start expressing herself to him.

Liam sat up on the bed and looked towards her direction, he knew something was wrong with her but she wasn’t ready to tell him anything.

“You know? I really prefer it when you speak non stop than when you keep mute like that”

Amelia sighed walking towards the bed, she lay down staring upwards.

“Liam, I want to say something”

Liam’s brow furrowed she had her eyes shut tightly.

He laid back down on the bed to listen to whatever she had to say.

“Tell me”

Amelia swallowed hard before letting out a sigh “Have you ever fallen for someone before?”

Liam raised a brow, was this really the reason she looked bothered all this while? what a silly question to ask.

“What will you achieve by asking such questions?”

“I only wanted to know because I like someone but I’m afraid he doesn’t like me too so I want you to explain what it really means to fall head over heels for a person”

Liam’s face freezed, her reply somehow seemed to bother him a lot, no! not bother, it annoyed him a lot.

“Isn’t it funny enough that you have an interest in another man and you have a huge problem when it comes to my engagement to Allison”

“No Liam you really didn’t get me” Amelia corrected but Liam wasn’t having any of it.

“Save it, I’m really sleepy Goodnight”

He turned his back against her, he didn’t want to hear anything from her now.

“At least hear what I have to say”

She pleaded but Instead of a response, Liam got up and left the room..

The next morning, Brianna wheeled herself out of her room, she was passing through Liam’s study when she saw it slightly opened.

“did he work till late at night? or did he perhaps have a fight with Amelia?”

Brianna’s thoughts drifted away when she saw a little girl coming towards her direction.

Chloe clutched tightly onto her teddy bear rubbing her eyes. “Big sis” She called out until she crashed into Brianna’s wheelchair.

“Careful dear” Brianna caught her in time to stop her from falling but there was something about this little girl that troubled her.

“A girl? whose child is she?”

Brianna blinked her eyes multiple times to check if she was seeing things.

Chloe rubbed her foot “Who are you?”

Brianna lifted a brow, what a cute audacity she has.

“Chloe is that how to speak to your elders?”

Amelia who appeared suddenly spoke,

“Good morning mum” Amelia greeted planting a kiss on Brianna’s cheek.

“And you little cutie what are you asking her?”

Brianna touched Amelia’s hand “Whose child is she?”

She already had a hunch on who she might be but she struggled hard to believe otherwise.

“Mum this little angel here is your step daughter Chloe, I know how hard it must be for you but that’s the truth”

Brianna blinked back the tears that were threatening to fall, as if having Nicholas wasn’t enough they still went ahead to have a little girl which shows how much they must truly love each other.

“Don’t cry, daddy always says brave people never cry only the hopeless cries”

The tears she was holding escaped her eyes staining her cheeks, this was one of mark’s motto when she was still with him.

Amelia gently wiped her tears away “What’s the point of crying now? it won’t still change anything all you need to do is to accept the harsh reality that life throws at us”

Liam came out of the study room to witness the scene going on in front of his study.

Only one glance he could tell what must have happened, it was no doubt that Chloe looked a lot like her mother and this was the major reason he disliked her.
