Chapter 306
Chapter 306
"I... " Coralie's answer began forming on her lips.
"Answer me after you think it through. I won't blame you no matter what your decision is. However, if
your answer is yes, I will take it seriously. You'll never leave my side ever again."
Interrupting her answer, Skylar interjected with his thoughts.
Coralie looked at Skylar and replied with in all seriousness, "I do. No matter what, as long as it's with All content is © N0velDrama.Org.
you, Skylar, I'm willing to journey to the ends of the earth by your side, in sickness or in health."
"Alright then." Hearing her answer, a long-awaited smile appeared on Skylar's face. Twirling Coralie
into his arms, he said, "Can you prepare a warm bath for me?"
Skylar was relieved to hear Coralie's answer.
In fact, Skylar had been yearning to hear her answer, but he feared he was being selfish. What right did
he have to bind her to his side for life?
"What?" Coralie was stupefied.
Skylar's change in attitude was so drastic that Coralie needed a while to collect her thoughts. Taking off
her down jacket, she ran into the bathroom to fulfil Skylar's request. There was a large triangular
bathtub in the bathroom with a shower next to it.
Coralie stood outside the glass door and hollered at Skylar, "Do you want to use the bathtub?"
"Yes."
As Coralie finished her question, she heard Skylar's reply in close proximity. Startled, she turned to see
that he was already right behind her.
"Woah?"
Coralie was shocked. She glimpsed a faint smile by the corner of his mouth as he looked at her
tenderly. Embarrassed, Coralie replied sheepishly, "The bathtub is too big. It will take some time to fill.
Go out and rest. I'll call you when it's ready."
Coralie put the plug in the bathtub and turned on the tap.
Rapidly, the bathroom was filled with steam.
Coralie came wearing boots. As the boots were soaked, she left a trail of black footprints behind her.
Coralie asked Skylar awkwardly, "Do you have slippers? I'll change into them."
"I've asked them to send an extra pair over. They'll be here in a minute."
Skylar replied softly as his gaze lingered on Coralie.
Coralie glanced at the bathtub which was slowly filling up and she turned back to Skylar, who was still
looking at her. She became flustered, saying, "Can you stop looking at me like that?"
"I haven't looked at you for so many years. I want to make up for all the lost time."
Skylar spoke as if it was nothing to be embarrassed about.
He realised that he was genuinely happy to be together with Coralie. No matter how long he looked at
her, he would never grow tired of her.
"Ahem, you and your sweet talk," Coralie chided.
Rolling her eyes, Coralie put up with Skylar's flirtatious advances.
"Ding Dong."
The doorbell rang, and the voice of a doctor could be heard from beyond the door. "President Holland,
I've brought the items."
Coralie hurried out to open the door.
The doctor passed her a bag containing pajamas and slippers, which was all she needed to spend the
night.
Coralie changed into slippers and walked towards the bathroom, but she was stopped by Skylar at the
door as he said, "Put on your pajamas."
"What?" Coralie asked.
"Didn't you say that you would do everything for me? I need to take a bath. You can't be thinking of
bathing me in a sweater, right?"
Skylar asked calmly.
In contrast, Coralie grew more flustered as her cheeks grew hot.
"Help, help you bathe?" Coralie asked, clearly embarrassed.
"Are you going back on your word?" Skylar teased.
He knew that Coralie was not one to go back on her words; she was merely embarrassed. Just as
before, Coralie would easily become nervous and at a loss for words with a few witty remarks from
Skylar.
"No, I'm not."
She replied defiantly.
After changing into pajamas in a corner of the room, Coralie returned to the bathroom.
By then, the bathtub was already half-full.
As Coralie watched the water level rise bit by bit, she kept wishing for it to rise slower, to delay the
inevitable need for her to bathe Skylar.
"To bathe... you have to be naked," Coralie thought.
Inch by inch, the bathtub filled to the brim.
"Help me take off my clothes."
Skylar implored.
He enjoyed seeing the bashful look on Coralie's face as he asked her for favours.
"Do you even need my help for that?"
Coralie complained. She knew Skylar was doing it on purpose but it had been five years since she last
crossed paths with Skylar. However, she still blushed, embarrassed at Skylar's teasing words.
"Of course."
Skylar nodded.
Coralie was left with no choice since she had made a promise. She knelt on one knee and reached
over to unbutton Skylar's clothes. When she reached the third button, Skylar suddenly reached out and
held her in his arms.
He held on to her with all the strength in his arms. Bringing his lips close to her ear, he whispered,
"Honey, I've missed you. I was sadder than you when I said those words previously, so please don't be
angry."
"I wasn't angry."
Coralie held Skylar with her arms and said with a smile.
How could she be angry? She knew that he was doing this for her.
"Yeah." Skylar smiled.
"However..." Coralie continued, "The next time you misplace your trust in me, I'll get angry."
"I promise not to."
As Skylar made his promise, he let go of Coralie and allowed her to continue undoing his buttons.
Coralie removed the white hospital gown from Skylar's body. Propping himself up, he struggled to seat
himself in the bathtub.
Water splashed everywhere, and Coralie's pajamas got wet.
Seeing her husband struggle as he got into the bathtub, Coralie's eyes became wet with tears.
Skylar, who used to be so strong, was in this state because of her. Coralie didn't feel anything when
she saw Skylar sitting in the wheelchair. Seeing him push his paralyzed legs into the bathtub, however,
she finally understood the struggles Skylar was facing.
No wonder Skylar distanced himself from Coralie to spare her the trouble.
Coralie thought to herself, "If I ever became as pathetic as this, I would do the same, wouldn't I?"
"It's fine." Looking at Coralie's eyes, Skylar knew what she was thinking. He reached out his hand,
touching her hair as he said with a smile, "It's okay. It's not a big deal."
"I'm sorry."
Coralie couldn't hold back her tears. She stood and apologized, her eyes red and swollen.
However, Skylar did not make a big deal of it. He straightened his back and extended his hand, pulling
Coralie into the bathtub. Instantly, the water overflowed from the bathtub.
"Hey!"
Coralie was surprised at his sudden action and she felt herself falling forward. A split second later, her
face was greeted by Skylar's broad chest. Stabilizing herself, Coralie complained, "My clothes are wet
now."
"It's alright. I'll sleep with you in my arms. You won't be cold."
As Skylar spoke, he held Coralie's face up and gave her a kiss.
