Chapter 1012
Chapter 1012
"If Jelena became the other woman meddling in my marriage to Fredric, whose side would you take?"
This question had been on Sheryl's lips more times than Aurelia could count.
It was clear to Aurelia that Sheryl was still incredibly wary of Jelena even though Jelena had moved
abroad.
"Sheryl, I've said it over and over. I'm all for justice over family ties. But you've got nothing to worry
about. Jelena wouldn't be a homewrecker. She's not short on cash or fame. Why would she throw her
future away like that? She wouldn't have left the country if there were any funny business between her
and Fredric."
Sheryl poured herself a glass of red wine and swirled it gently. "Let's hope she's got her wits about her."
The movie started.
Avery played a dual role in this movie, where a man from a parallel universe crossed over, only to find
his other self living a life far more blissful than his. And his deceased girlfriend from his own world was
still alive.
He then harbors a sinister thought of replacing this world's version of himself. NôvelDrama.Org © content.
The film was a roller coaster, jam-packed with suspense, and there wasn't a dull moment.
After the credits rolled, they all sat around dissecting the plot.
With a playful tone, Aurelia mused, "This parallel universe stuff is scarier than identical twins. They're
exactly alike. But I swear I'd notice in a heartbeat if my boyfriend suddenly switched places with
someone, even someone identical."
She smiled, glanced at Sheryl, and asked, "What about you, Sheryl? Would you be able to tell?"
"Of course," Sheryl responded. "Even if they looked the same, their personalities, tempers, and morals
would differ. How could I not notice?"
Aurelia then turned to Lisbeth. "And you, Lisbeth?"
Tucking a stray hair behind her ear, Lisbeth said, "I think I could tell, too. It's so creepy only to think
about it. The female lead got intimate with both men and got pregnant. I bet even she couldn't tell who
the father was."
She seemed to discuss the plot without drawing any parallels to her life.
Aurelia was puzzled.
There had been undeniable changes in Raines, and Paz's intuition was corroborative evidence.
How could Lisbeth not have noticed anything?
Was it possible she didn't care for Raines, so his changes didn't matter? Was she concerned with
nothing more than her material well-being?
Just then, the maid came in and told them the fruit they ordered had arrived,
Sheryl asked her to prepare and cut up some fruit. Soon after, a tray of fruit was brought in.
"Did you send some over to Fredric?" Sheryl asked.
"Yeah, already did," the maid replied.
Aurelia chuckled. "The apples taste so sweet, Sheryl. Raines loves it."
Sheryl nodded. "I had it to be delivered today, knowing we were gathering."
Aurelia shifted her tone. "Raines mentioned that his taste changed a lot after his illness. I've also felt he
doesn't seem to enjoy apples as much as everyone says."
Beverley nodded in agreement. "I've noticed that, too. Do people's tastes change after an illness?"
Lisbeth replied, "It's pretty normal. After being sick, the taste buds aren't as sensitive, and the stomach
is weaker, so tastes can change."
Aurelia spoke with worry, "It seems like Raines' health hasn't fully recovered. Maybe we should take
him to a doctor tomorrow for proper treatment?"
"Exactly," Beverley interrupted eagerly. "After falling sick, people gotta see a doctor. Now that we're
back in Elysium, we should get a respected doctor. Dr. Georgina is top-notch. My mom's been his
regular patient, too."
Lisbeth waved her hand dismissively. "No need. I've got a bit of medical knowledge myself. I know how
to help Raines recover. Don't worry about it."
Aurelia looked at her, her eyes deep and meaningful. Was she covering something up for Raines?
