Chapter 1011
Chapter 1011
Beverley couldn't help but curl her lips in disdain.
It would be too much if Lisbeth were still playing games with Raines, who was such a catch, which
would mean she was cold-hearted and heartless.
Sheryl sat beside her, a sense of injustice gnawing at her.
Of the four brothers, why did it have to be Fredric who inherited their father, Chad's charm and easy
way with romance? The other three were devoted to their love.
"Chad's got four sons, and it looks like only Fredric's the spitting image of him. The other three brothers
are nothing like him."
Aurelia knew what she meant, and her lips twisted into a half-smirk and half-smile. "Genetics are a
funny thing. Sons are mostly like their moms, but occasionally, you get one who takes after his dad a
bit more. Looks like Fredric hit that genetic jackpot." Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
Beverley interrupted, "Genetics are like a lottery, totally random. Raines, Arnold, and Leopold probably
got those good genes skipping a generation, taking after our grandparents, who were the picture of
love and devotion. On the other hand, Fredric didn't get a loyal gene, inheriting the playboy genes from
Great-grandfather instead."
The analysis was logical and sensible.
Sheryl was speechless.
Aurelia handed her a chocolate, comforting her, "Sheryl, they say a reformed rake makes the best
husband. Fredric's a changed man now, and his flings aren't the kind to take home to Mama."
Sheryl made a face. "I'm not worried about the flings. I'm worried about some gold digger trapping him
and having a secret love child. I have no sons of my own. I won’t hand over our family fortune to some
outsider."
Aurelia understood her concerns. "Sheryl, you're still young. Why not try for another baby with Fredric?"
Sheryl's brows knitted slightly. "You think I haven't tried? But he's unwilling to have another child with
me. I don't know what's going through his head, but he just refuses to have another."
As she spoke, Aurelia's phone pinged with a WhatsApp message from her cousin, Jelena.
[Darling, I'm coming back home tomorrow.]
Aurelia quickly replied, [What time?]
[Evening.]
[I'll take a day off the day after tomorrow so we can have a little catch-up.]
Beverley piped up from the side, "Sheryl, listen. You should take matters into your own hands if Fredric
refuses to cooperate. It's not hard for a wife to 'borrow' her husband's seed without his permission."
From her vast experience of devouring romance novels, she knew this was possible but often a plot
twist.
Aurelia choked on her drink at the suggestion, which was audacious, at least!
Sheryl wasn't shocked. She'd already attempted it.
She had poked several holes in their condoms secretly, but he had caught on, exploded in anger, and
even threatened divorce if she tried such a thing again.
"He's on guard like Fort Knox," she lamented.
Beverley was helpless. "You've never asked him why he doesn't want more kids?"
Sheryl responded, "I did, and he just said he didn't want to. I suspect he doesn't want to give me a son.
Sometimes, I wonder if he's already fathered a child with some sly vixen and is keeping it under
wraps."
As she spoke, her gaze shifted to Aurelia. "Your cousin Jelena suddenly wants to study abroad after
becoming a top influencer. She's not running off to have a baby in secret, is she?"
Aurelia nearly choked again, realizing Sheryl still harbored suspicions about Jelena.
"Sheryl, I swear that Jelena and Fredric are strictly professional. She's got plenty of wealthy suitors.
She wouldn't demean herself to be someone's mistress."
Jelena had indeed had a fling with Fredric, but that was water under the bridge. She went abroad
probably to put distance between them.
Still, Sheryl couldn't shake her unease.
After all, Fredric had once considered leaving her for Jelena.
Jelena was a real femme fatale, enchanting and seductive. She had the makings of a modern-day
Helen of Troy.
"If Jelena seduces Fredric, whose side will you be on?"
