Chapter 2050
Lysander was stumped. It seemed like everything was going smoothly. He had reassured her when she mentioned not having enough time for design work, agreed without hesitation when she brought up getting a marriage license, yet, for some reason, Thalassa was upset.
He had heard the saying that women were complex, but he'd never had the time or the need to dwell on such matters. His life was straightforward - people did as he asked, always keen to keep him in good spirits. He wasn't used to catering to anyone else's feelings. This was his first real taste of the puzzling nature of women.
Thalassa headed back to her room, pausing at the door to see if Lysander was following her. But when she looked back, she found no sign of him. He hadn't come after her to make things right, amplifying her disappointment. Huffing out a breath of frustration, she shut her door with a bit more force than necessary. Sitting on the bed, she felt an overwhelming sense of emptiness and discomfort growing inside her. Thalassa flopped onto the bed, pulling the blanket over her, and decided to sulk in silence.© 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
Downstairs, Lysander was at a loss. He figured that even if he went after her, he wouldn't know the right things to say. Everything in life required a specific approach to be effective, and he believed the same was true when it came to women. You had to hit the right note when trying to cheer them up; otherwise, it was just a waste of time. But he was completely clueless about why Thalassa was mad in the first place. How was he supposed to make it right?
Feeling helpless, he decided to call Alaric for advice.
"Lysander, what a surprise! What's got you calling me out of the blue?" Alaric's voice was filled with excitement and disbelief.
"I've been meaning to call, but I figured you might be too busy," Lysander started, but Alaric cut him off, bubbling over with news.
"Hey, did you know? Hertha and I got our marriage license. We're officially husband and wife now! I can proudly call her my wife without anyone batting an eye, hahaha!"
Alaric's laughter was infectious, even through the phone, and Lysander couldn't help but pull the phone away from his ear a bit. Although he could understand Alaric's happiness, it was a bit too loud for his taste.
"Done laughing?" Lysander's calm and authoritative voice cut through, reminding Alaric of his friend's no-nonsense demeanor. Oops, he might have gotten carried away with his excitement. Quickly composing himself, Alaric replied, "So, what's up? You calling me must mean there's something big. Whatever it is, I'm here for you, man. Not a second's hesitation on my part!"
