Chapter 2051
"When did you and Hertha tie the knot?" Lysander asked.
Alaric was momentarily taken aback. "Huh?"
He thought Lysander had some major issue to discuss with him, and he was all geared up for it. But then, the conversation suddenly swung back to him and Hertha getting hitched? Wasn't that the topic Lysander was just scoffing at?
Now, Alaric felt almost flattered. Just thinking about being legally married to Hertha sent a wave of joy through him he couldn't quell. "We got our marriage license the morning before last. Guess I'm officially off the market, buddy. Just a heads up, you can count me out for those bar hops and club nights from now on. My wife runs a tight ship." Alaric started to boast, unable to hide his glee.
His grin was practically ear-to-ear.
It wasn't that he wanted to show off, really. He had already moved past the topic, but Lysander was the one who brought it up again. "How did you manage to win her over?" Lysander's smooth, maic voice suddenly inquired.
"What?" Alaric momentarily lost track of his thoughts.
"Weren't you two just back to being friends? How did you end up getting married so quickly?" Lysander didn't skimp on the details.
"Heh, guess I'm just irresistible," Alaric said, laughing foolishly with excitement.
"Not talking, hanging up now," Lysander had little patience for this.
"Hey, wait, wait, wait." Alaric quickly interjected, preventing him from ending the call.
"I won't rub my happiness in your face, ok? Let's get down to brass tacks," Alaric got back on track.
Lysander typically wouldn't call someone unless it was for something important.
"What generally makes a woman angry?" Lysander picked up the phone again, pressing it to his ear, initially intent on seeking Alaric's advice on how
to appease a woman. Without getting Alaric's wisdom, the call would have been for naught.
Alaric paused for a few seconds, surprised that Lysander would ask such a basic question.
He had braced himself, expecting Lysander to ask for a major favor, something so challenging it could be akin to going into battle.
But instead, he was just asking for advice on such a simple matter.
This left Alaric feeling somewhat anticlimactic. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
"Forget it then!" Lysander was about to hang up, not having received an answer.
Alaric snapped back to reality, quickly saying, "Of course, women want to feel cherished by their man Show a lack of interest in even the smallest detail, and she might take offense, giving you the cold shoulder."
Without further ado, Alaric conveyed the reason to Lysander.
He had to speak up, or Lysander might actually end the call.
"Get some rest," Lysander said, his brows furrowing slightly as he replayed his interactions with Thalassa, beginning to see a pattern. After ending the call with Alaric Fitch approached respectfully, "Lysander, dinner is served. Shall I send someone to call Ms. Everhart?"
"No need," Lysander replied, striding towards the staircase. After a couple of steps, he turned back to correct Fitch: "Don't call her Ms. Everhart." Fitch, breaking out in a cold sweat, was taken aback.
Before he could respond, Lysander added, "Call her 'the lady of the house.""
Fitch's tense nerves immediately relaxed, his eyes widening in surprise. Before he could utter a word, Lysander had already ascended the stairs.
In just a few seconds, Fitch went
from nervous to shocked, then to elated. His cold sweat hadn't even had a chance to break before it was replaced by a smile.
He had thought Lysander and Thalassa were on the verge of a split, but now, he was instructing the staff to refer to Thalassa as 'the lady of the house.'
It seemed they were indeed becoming a united front.
Fitch, the butler, was happy for Lysander and Thalassa alike.
Lysander reached the bedroom door and knocked gently.
