The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel)

MISTAKE 159

Chapter 159: Richard’s desire.

By the time Emma was done in the kitchen, Richard had already put him to sleep. She scrolled through her phone while she waited for him to dry himself off. Now on the net, she could read the comments made about her..

She noticed that at first people cursed at her. Then their tune changed quickly. Many bad comments seemed to have been deleted too.

“Emma, you have suffered,” one comment said.

“It really is bad luck to marry a scumbag,” another said.

“What scumbag? Her luck was horrible; she married a family of scumbags.”

“That witch even laid her hands on that child. And that is her own grandson.”

“I sell shoes. One dollar a pair. DM me for details”

“Why do I feel there is more to this? Why hate your own grandson this way; is he not her grandson?”

“In the comment above, people like you are a problem. Even if what you are saying is true, does that mean she can harm the child?”

“Why had no one told me there was such good drama here? I was busy watching movies and

missed this.”

Emma found that Richard had made a statement that changed the direction of the conversation. She was shocked by his words. From what she recalled, she had only hired him. to be her divorce

lawyer. But from the way he talked, it seemed like she had asked him to make a statement on her behalf. She looked up from her phone to meet his gaze. He had come back from drying off and was leaning on the wall, watching her all these while. Air caught in her

throat at the sight of him in the shadows. She shook off the feeling and got up to approach

him.

“Is Henry asleep?” she asked, and he hummed a reply.

“I saw what you did; thank you, “she said.

Emma stood in her living room, her phone in hand, staring at Richard with a mix of confusion and gratitude. She couldn’t comprehend why he had taken such a drastic step without consulting her first.

“Richard, I don’t understand,” Emma began, her voice filled with uncertainty. “Why did you make that statement without telling me? I never asked you to do that.”

Richard looked at her, his expression unreadable “You don’t like that I did so?” he asked, removing his weight from the wall and straightening up. “I did what I felt was right.”

Emma shook her head, still unable to grasp the full extent of Richard’s actions. “But why? Why go to such lengths for me? Sometimes I cannot tell if you are being professional or if you are… Like right now, standing in my house at night, bathing my son, putting him to sleep, I don’t understand. What do you want?” she pressed, her voice filled with genuine curiosity.

Richard took a step closer to her till he was standing close enough for her to feel his breath, his gaze heated and intense. “Are you sure you don’t know what I want?” he asked.

Emma’s eyes widened in surprise at his words. She had always seen Richard as her lawyer, a professional who was there to represent her interests.

But now, standing in her living room, she realized that there was more to their relationship than she had ever imagined. She knew what he meant but could not respond.

Emma stood frozen in shock, Richard’s words ringing in her ears. She had just finished tucking her son Henry into bed mere moments ago. The little boy was finally asleep after fussing for what felt like an eternity. Emma had thought the difficult part of her evening was over, but Richard’s unexpected and completely inappropriate declaration proved her very

wrong.

“You can’t be serious,” Emma managed to whisper, her throat tight. Richard had suggested, in no uncertain terms, that he wanted her in a romantic sense. The idea was utterly absurd. He had always kept a cold face when with her. He had never hinted once that this had crossed his mind. Yet the look in his eyes told Emma that he was deadly serious about his intentions.

She took a step back instinctively, trying to put some distance between them, but Richard advanced, closing the gap once more. His large hand found her waist, his grip firm but not painful as he pulled her body flush against his own. Emma’s heart raced with a mix of fear and an unmistakable frisson of something else she didn’t want to name.

“Richard, this isn’t appropriate,” she protested weakly. “Henry is in the other room.”

“You’re divorced now, Emma,” he pointed out, his voice a deep rumble that raised goosebumps along her arms. “I have been patient enough, don’t you think? You rejected me in school because you were two years older than me, but there is no reason to now.”

The blatant sexuality in his tone made her shiver. What would happen if she refused his proposal? She voiced the question out loud.

“If I say no?”

“Then I’ll make the decision for us,” he replied without an ounce of shame. “I know you felt that spark between us too. Don’t try to deny it. You can’t keep running, Emma.

“When did I run?” Emma protested. Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.

“In school, you were afraid someone would find out about us, so you acted as though you did not know me. You even broke it off without care, just because you were afraid people would talk,” he reminded her.

Emma opened her mouth to protest further, to insist that she was not ready to be in a relationship so soon. She wanted to concentrate on her son. But when she looked into his heated yes,

the words stuck in her throat. Because a small, dark part of her wondered if Richard was right–if she had felt that dizzying spark when he touched her just now. She was alone now; she was not tied to anyone. The divorce was finalized, and most importantly,

Richard seemed to love her son. Was it so wrong to feel a flicker of wanting when a vibrantly alive male specimen like Richard was pressed against her?

Seemingly taking her silence as acquiescence, Richard leaned in until his lips were a mere breath away from the sensitive spot just beneath her ear. “Just think about it, Emma. That’s all

Lask for now.” With that, he forced himself to release her and turned to leave the room, each step steady and full of quiet confidence

Across town, Gina found herself dealing with a crisis of her own. A sudden, incessant knocking at the front door of the opulent mansion disrupted her quiet evening at home. When she pulled the door open, she was shocked to find a small crew of brusque–mannered moving men already barreling inside without invitation.

“What is the meaning of this?” she demanded, following them into the cavernous foyer. “You can’t just barge into my home!”

“No need to get riled, ma’am,” one of the movers told her gruffly. “We’re just doing our job here. The owner hired us to clear out this place so the renovation crew can get started bright and early tomorrow.”

Gina’s heart dropped into her stomach. Renovation? Surely there had to be some misunderstanding. This was the home she shared with her husband Martin, who had fallen into an unexplainable coma several months earlier with no sign of waking. How could someone else possibly claim ownership now while her husband still lived, trapped in that

un state?

“There’s no

no way this place is being renovated,” she insisted, fighting to keep her voice steady despite her rising panic. “My husband owns this house, and he’s still alive, just… incapacitated. for the time being. You have no right to be here!

The mover shrugged, unmoved by her words. “I don’t know anything about that, lady. I just follow orders from the owner, and those orders are to clear this place out by tonight.”
