Chapter 22
I was relieved to see that he was doing well and that Aston hadn’t done anything nasty to him but I was still really shocked to see him again, so shocked that all the fear that I thought I would feel whenever I saw Aston was totally replaced..
It was like some sort of dream. I didn’t think that I would see him again. I hoped that I would but I wasn’t expecting it to be so soon. I stared hard at him but he never once met my gaze. What could an angel like him possibly be doing walking with the devil? I didn’t get it. I didn’t get what their relationship was
I was so curious that I had almost completely forgotten about my current situation. Aston finally stopped in front of us staring down at me like I was an old piece of tag. Even rags were treated with more respect than the way his eyes treated me. I just didn’t get why he wouldn’t give me chance to explain myself. Not that it would mean anything anyway, he wouldn’t believe a word that came out of my mouth and even if he did, he would still do whatever it was that he wanted to do anyway.
Torturing me brought him joy and he wouldn’t miss a chance at doing that.
“What is going on here?” he asked with a scowl on his face and from the direction he was looking, I was sure his question was not directed at me so I didn’t bother to attempt answering his question. I didn’t want to make an even bigger fool out of myself than the bastard standing in front of me had already made me.
“What are you doing here with her?” Aston pressed and if Aston wasn’t so adamant about making me out to be a villain, he would have seen the hesitant look on the face. He would have noticed the pause in his voice before answering his question.
“I just want to remind her of her place and drill it into her skull that she could never be mine no matter how many times she tried or no matter what she promised me.” Answered the b**rd that just had his hand wrapped around my neck and threatened me to be his f**k toy.
The lies rolled off his tongue like he’d practiced his entire life, like he was a natural-born liar. I was so disgusted by the sight of him that I struggled to hold in my puke. The laugh that they both shared made the tears that were already stinging my eyes rolled down my cheeks without warning.
“Yeah, I’m glad you found time out of your busy schedule to remind the **h, she tends to forget her place, no different from her mate.” He mocked and they both shared another laugh
“Yeah, it’s no problem. I didn’t want her getting any ideas in her twisted little mind.” The alpha lied and my jaw clenched. 1 wish I could just punch his teeth out and set him f** straight. To set every one of them straight. To tell them the truth and rid them of this f**g bad idea that they had about me.
“Meet my brother Alpha, Brax. Btax, meet my dear friend.” Aston introduced the both of them and my jaw dropped to the f**g ground.
Brother?! Did he just f***g say brother?! The angel that saved the is the devil’s brother?! Were my ears playing tricks with me or did I hit my head somewhere and wasn’t aware of it because I just didn’t get how they could be related. How could they be related? My mind was messing with me.
*I finally get to meet the famous Brax.” The alpha said stretching out his hand for a shake. Brax shook his hand reluctantly and I watched him narrow his eyes at him but he didn’t let it linger for long. He quickly replaced it with a smile and let go of his arm.
“Its nice to meet you too.” Brax answered.
As Aston and his brother exchanged pleasantries, I stood frozen, still in disbelief, my mind reeling from the revelation that this cruel, arrogant alpha was Aston’s brother. How could the kind, compassionate Aston be related to such a monster? And yet, as they laughed and joked with each other, it became clear that Aston was not nearly as disturbed by his brother’s behaviour as I was.
“I hope you’re enjoying your stay here at the pack. I wasn’t aware of your return to the pack so forgive me for not coming to
say Hi
“Oh, it’s no problem. Not a lot of people were aware of my return so you’re more than forgiven.” Brax answered politely and I felt so mad at him for being so respectful towards him when the only thing that he deserved was a f**g punch to his s**id face.
My heart hammered in my chest as the conversation continued, my mind whirling with questions and fears.
The air grew heavy with tension as Aston and his brother turned to leave alongside the alpha, their laughter echoing in my
The encounter left me shaken and confused, my thoughts churning as I tried to make sense of what had just happened. Were they really brothers or was that just their way of referring to each other but how close could they be for them to call each other brothers. I just couldn’t digest the fact that they’re brothers
I worked in silence, my movements automatic as I struggled to process my thoughts.Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
As the day wore on, my mind was still trapped in a storm of confusion and fear. The encounter with Aston’s brother had only added to the uneasy feeling that had been growing in the pit of my stomach since I arrived at this place.
The rest of the day was pretty d*n ordinary compared to what I had witnessed. It was just work after work after work. The d**n head maid had no sympathy towards me whatsoever. She didn’t seem to consider the fact that I literally almost died getting beat up. She just wanted me to work non stop and it seemed to be taking a toll on me.
I got food to eat at least. That was the highlight of my day. It wasn’t but it was at least a close second. I just sat in my cell thinking about Brax and how nice he was to me and he turned out to be Aston’s brother. It was astonishing. I couldn’t seem to wrap my head around it. The day passed liked the wind and before I knew it, it was morning again. I resumed my duties again but without being told but it was almost like a routine for me now. I was getting used to it but it didn’t mean that I hated it any less.
The day rolled by quickly as well and it was evening before I knew it.
That evening, as I was clearing away the dinner dishes, I heard the sound of hushed voices and excited whispers coming from the hallway outside the kitchen. I paused in my work, my curiosity piqued, as the voices grew louder.
“She’s here! The Luna is here!”
“Luna Mara has arrived!
The voices sent a wave of apprehension through me. Luna? What did that mean? I cast a quick glance around the kitchen, but none of the other maids seemed to notice the commotion. I made my way towards the door, trying to catch a glimpse of the new arrival.
As I peeked out into the hallway, I saw a beautiful, regal woman standing surrounded by a group of deferential alphas, Her hair was a dark shade of brown and her eyes were blue, radiating an icy chill that sent a shiver through me. This, I realized, must be the Luna.
The Luna’s mere presence seemed to command the entire hall, and I couldn’t help but shrink back into the shadows as she swept past me, her gaze never once deigning to glance in my direction. The alphas bowed low before her, their expressions filled with reverence and awe.
As she disappeared down the hall, the whispers began anew, the alphas exchanging knowing glances and excited murmurs. “Did you see hert”
“She is even more beautiful than I had imagined!”
Aston is a lucky alpha indeed, to have such a mate.”
The alphas’ words hung in the air like a cloud, shrouding me in an even greater sense of unease. Aston’s mate? The idea of the cold, distant Luna with the equally cold distant Aston felt like a beautiful union, sending waves of excitement through my mind.
As I retreated back into the kitchen, my hands trembling as I resumed my chores, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this new development would only add to the turmoil in my life. What would this mean for me? Not that it was any of my business that his mate had arrived but h had a bad feeling about her.
