Chapter 21
As I scrubbed away at the dirt and grime that splattered across the kitchen sink, my mind drifted back to two days ago. The pain from my punishment had mostly subsided, but the memory of it still lingered, a harsh reminder of the cruelty and injustice I had endured. And yet, despite the suffering, I felt a flicker of hope, fuelled by the kindness and compassion of the alpha who had saved me.
I knew it was wrong to be delusional but I couldn’t help it. He was like my knight in shining armour even though he had to take off the armour at the end. Those few moments he spent helping meant so much to me. It was proof to me that there was still good people on the surface of the earth
It gave me some kind of hope that even if I died giving birth to my child or after, the world I was going to leave him/her in wasn’t completely evil.
His identity remained a mystery to me, his name as elusive as the shadows that had concealed his features.
Even as I worked, my thoughts were consumed by questions about this angelic figure. Who was he? What was his connection. to Aston and the other alphas? And why had he chosen to help me when he could have easily looked the other way? Why did he also choose to stop helping me? Did Aston stop him or did he really not want to interfere?
1 was done scrubbing the plates so I moved on to scrubbing the floor with a brush because apparently, I had to scrub it before mopping it in order for the head maid to be able to see her ugly face in it whenever she looked. I hated her so much. the thought of strangling her made me smile.
As I stepped away from the part of the floor I had already scrubbed in order to grab a mop and finish the job, I turned to the maid who had helped me after my punishment. She was also doing kitchen duties with me, hers just had to do with the foodstuff, she was taking an inventory or something.
“Thank you for your kindness, Cassandra,” I said, inclining my head in gratitude. She may have played a trick on me first and made me believe that Aston saved me but she still helped me a great deal and I was really grateful for that.
If it wasn’t for her. I wouldn’t be able to dream of getting up after the kind of beating the guards lashed on me not to talk of being able to walk.
She smiled warmly, her eyes glinting with kindness. “It was nothing, my dear. I was just doing what any decent person would do. And please, call me Cassie. We’re all friends here.”
“Friends,” I echoed, the word sounding foreign on my tongue. “Yes, I suppose we are. Although it seems like an odd word to use in this place.” She added and she was definitely right. I didn’t think having friends while locked up in an enemy pack was the best thing but it wasn’t like I had anything to loose.
“This place may be strange, but that doesn’t mean we can’t find a little light in the darkness,” Cassie said, her smile softening. “After all, we have to stick together. The alphas may think they’re in charge, but they can’t squash our spirits if we each other.” She said and I liked her optimism but we needed to be a little more realistic. The alphas were actually in charge and that didn’t seem like it was going to change any time soon.

I nodded in agreement, a small flame of hope flickering in my heart even though it was really small, it was good to have a little hope. “You’re right, Cassie. We do need to stick together. But sometimes it’s hard to know who to trust, especially in a place like this. I let out and she gave me a small smile.
“Trust is a precious thing, Kira,” Cassie replied, her voice taking on a more serious tone. “It’s not something to be given away lightly. But I can tell you this – there’s still a little good in this world and if you don’t give yourself a chance to, you won’t see

Her words help meaning but not a lot. What was good about being thrown into a dungeon or being almost whipped to death and then tossed into boiling water that ripped open fresh wounds.
I was only just returned to my cell a day ago and it already felt like weeks. Sleeping on that comfortable bed for just one night made me miss the comfort of former bed, a luxury that I never once appreciated.

I hadn’t set my eyes on Astop since the incident. The way his face contorted into an angry scowl when he asked that I he thrown into hot water was a memory of him that I knew I wouldn’t be able to get out of my head anytime soon. I was in suspense, IText content © NôvelDrama.Org.
I know how to act if I saw him again. I didn’t know what to expect since I got saved and I wasn’t exactly punished in the way that he would have wanted for a crime I sure as hell didn’t commit and I genuinely wonder what happened to the Alpha that helped me.
As I trimmed the flowers, my mind wandered back to the cruelty 1 had endured because of the beast that framed and lied against me. The mad man that made me into a traitor.
The sound of footsteps approaching pulled me from my musings, and I turned to see the alpha who had lied about me standing before me, a twisted grin marring his features. My stomach churned at his presence, the stench of his deceit almost palpable in the air. I couldn’t believe he had the guts to show up in front of me again like nothing happened. He must be Iruly fearless
My fingers tightened around the gardening shears, the metal biting into my skin as I gathered my resolve. I would not be cowed by this vile creature, not after all I had endured.
“You think your punishment was a lesson to me?” I spat, my voice thick with contempt. “You’re nothing but a coward who preys on the weak. You’ll never break my spirit, no matter how hard you try.”
His laughter rang out, mocking and cruel, as he stepped closer, lils eyes gleaming with malice.
I refused to shrink back, my chin raised in defiance as his shadow loomed over me.
“You want me to be your sex hissed. my voice dripping with venom. “You’ll have to drag me to hell itself before I submit to you.”

His grin widened, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction. “Oh, but darling,” he purred, “I plan to break you. You’ll beg for my touch, you’ll plead for my mercy. And when you do, I’ll make you regret the day you ever crossed me and guess what honey? You’re already in hell.”
As his words washed over me, my heart thundered in my chest, my hands shaking with rage. I had endured too much, fought too hard, to let this monster win. “You’re nothing but a bully,” I growled, my words fuelled by fury. “You’ll never be a true alpha. You’re a pretender, a coward who hides behind your lies and your cruelty. I’ll never bow to you.”
His lips curled into a sneer, and he reached out, his fingers wrapping around my throat in a vice-like grip.
I choked, my breath ragged as his grip tightened. The world seemed to spin around me, my vision clouding as I struggled against his grasp. But I refused to surrender, refusing to show him any sign of weakness.
“You’ll regret this,” I croaked, my voice hoarse as his hand squeezed my throat even tighter. “You’ll regret crossing me, you
monster.
His laughter echoed around us, drowning out the sound of my laboured breaths, “Oh, but darling, it’s you who will defying me. You’ll be my toy, my plaything.

The world began to darken at the edges, the blood pounding in my ears as I struggled to breathe. But even in the throes of death, I refused to submit. I reached out with my free hand, my fingers curling into a fist as I struggled to strike out at him
“Never,” I rasped, my voice a mere whisper now. “I’ll never surrender to you.”
“This is not the beginning either, I’m going to make sure that you suffer so much more than you already did if you don’t accept my offer before its too late, I don’t know what you’re doing trying to act all proud like you have any shame. You’re better off with me.” I couldn’t say he was completely wrong.
Nothing about the way I was currently living was dignified and that brought tears to my eyes.
is laughter rang out again, but before he could respond, I heard the sound of footsteps approaching, the roar of Aston’s voice shattering the stillness of the garden but the only thing that caught my eyes was the man walking beside him.
