Chapter 329 A Helpless Jean
Chapter 329 A Helpless Jean
As Jean heard Benjamin's words, she looked at Zed helplessly.
Zed patted her on the shoulder to comfort her and took her towards the car.
She had no choice but to be pulled towards the car.
As Benjamin saw Zed and his wife held each other, he snorted coldly and turned his head around. He
looked unhappy.
Jean smiled bitterly when she saw Benjamin's reaction. She quickly thought of something and
asked,"Grandpa, are you thirsty after such a long flight? Are you tired or not? Would you like to rest?"
She spoke as gently and softly as possible so that Benjamin didn't get a chance to find fault in every
word she spoke.
When Zed saw Jean trying to please his grandpa, he immediately gave Jean a thumbs up behind
Benjamin's back.
Jean responded with a smile.
"You don't have to pretend. Go away and don't disturb me for now!" Benjamin, who was not touched by
her gentle tone, just replied angrily.
"Grandpa, I know I was really rude to you. I shouldn't have talked back to you, and so I want to
apologize to you. I am so sorry! I know you are a tolerant person, so please don't get angry at me."
Jean pleaded humbly and was not discouraged by his cold behaviour.
Benjamin frowned and couldn't stand Jean's words. He shouted at Zed in a cold voice,"Zed, tell your
wife to stop nagging. She's too noisy. Didn't you hear that?"
"Okay, Grandpa! Jean, let grandpa rest first. You can wait until we get home and take good care of
grandpa then so that he realizes how good you are." Zed reached out and pulled Jean closer to him,
and reassured her with a voice loud enough for Benjamin to hear.
"You!" After Benjamin heard this, he instantly lost his temper and shouted,"I'm not going back! Gregory,
find me a hotel!"
"Grandpa, please don't do that!" Zed stopped him in a hurry. "Please don't get angry. When we get
back, I'll ask Jean to make you a nice meal so that everything gets back to normal," Zed quickly said.
"Can she cook? Don't make it taste like dog food! I still miss Zelda's cooking." Benjamin sneered. But Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
he was not so angry as before.
"Grandpa, I'm not favouring her, but Jean's cooking is really good. If you don't believe me, you should
try it today and see for yourself." Zed tried his best to please Benjamin. He hoped to see his grandpa
accepting his wife.
"Really?" Benjamin looked at Jean. He felt that girls like her do not know how to cook at all.
Jean grinned bitterly in her mind. She herself did not know that she was a good cook. She had cooked
a few times before, but her cooking skills were as good as an average.
As soon as Zelda came, Jean rarely cooked now.
This was Benjamin's first time that he valued her. Although his eyes still doubted her, it still gave her
hope. She nodded and said,"Grandpa, I will try my best to satisfy you. I don't know if what I cook will
suit your taste, but I will try my best."
This time, Benjamin was not as cold as before. He thought that Jean was much more pleasant.
But he still looked at her with a serious face and said coldly,"You can cook? Humph, we need a
mistress, not a cook. But my curiosity was aroused. Let's just see how good your cooking skills are."
Though Benjamin didn't talk in a kind way, he still wanted Jean to cook for him.
Jean smiled bitterly and looked at Zed for help.
He gave her a pleasant smile, which was full of encouragement.
She sighed instead.
At first, she had thought that it would be too simple. All she had to do was to go and meet Benjamin,
but after today she was not sure as to how she will ever complete this task.
She had realized that Benjamin was odd, tricky and difficult to get along.
As soon as he met her, he was not satisfied with everything she did or even the way she looked. Now
in order to please him, she even had to cook by herself.
Honestly, she was never confident about her cooking skills.
How could Zed mention her cooking skills? He could not even help her out at this time.
As they saw Benjamin's tired face, they stopped talking and instead made eye contacts once in a while.
Jean was now happy to be with Zed.
Otherwise, she really wouldn't have known how to deal with this situation alone.
The car drove smoothly all the way back to the Qi Mansion and stopped in front of a huge courtyard.
Jean was surprised when she saw that Benjamin woke up quickly and started looking around.
She had directed Gregory to drive slowly because Benjamin was asleep, but he woke up as soon as
they arrived. It was as if he knew when they would arrive.
He pretended to be sleeping all this time?
That was quite possible.
Zed and Jean helped Benjamin out of the car. Jean looked at Benjamin from behind and wondered as
to what was going on in his mind all this time.
Benjamin knew that Jean was looking at him. Suddenly he turned around and glared at her with a
serious look.
Jean was startled. She quickly moved her eyes away from Benjamin and started talking to Zed,"Zed,
please take grandpa inside the house and I'll go to the kitchen first."
"Make some home-cooked dishes that you are good at. Grandpa doesn't like foods that are too
greasy." Zed leaned over and whispered, to remind her.
"I see!" Jean nodded and smiled gently. She then turned around and walked inside.
Benjamin saw Jean leave so he walked up to Zed and said gravely,"Zed, you should know why I'm
here this time."
"Grandpa!" Knowing what he would say, Zed smiled bitterly,"Can we stop talking about it for now? Jean
went to cook for you, and we'll have a good chat when we are not hungry anymore, okay?"
"Zed, don't change the topic! You know you can't escape this. You also know about your parents. I
couldn't count on them, so I have put all my hopes on you. I was a soldier. I want to relax when I have
done everything that I came here for," Benjamin said as he looked at him seriously.
"Grandpa, didn't we agree on this? When I'm thirty-five, I'll go back to the Imperial Capital." Zed sighed.
He knew that he cannot escape this, and in order to postpone it, he had to talk about the agreement.
"Actually, that is exactly what we agreed on, but what have you done in H City for all these years? You
haven't made any progress in your business, and you've married a girl who doesn't satisfy me at all. I
don't object your marriage, but at least you should have married someone like Jesse. Well, it doesn't
matter now. I don't care about your marriage, but you have to go back to the Imperial Capital with me!"
Benjamin insisted.
"Grandpa, isn't Uncle Simon taking care of the industry in the Imperial Capital? He has been doing very
well. Why do you want me to go back with you?" Zed asked helplessly.
"Your uncle..." Benjamin exclaimed. "It has been thirty years since he started the business with your
father. No matter what, he is still my adopted son. Zed, to tell you the truth, he... has only six month to
live."
Suddenly, Benjamin's eyes turned red and Zed could see tears in his eyes.
"Grandpa, what did you say? What's wrong with Uncle Simon?" Zed was shocked and asked quickly.
"He has been diagnosed with liver cancer. And I'm afraid this will be the last year of his life!"
Benjamin hid his face with his hands and sighed helplessly.
