Chapter 296
Chapter 296
Brenda asked,
"Are you looking for Skylar Holland?"
"Yes. It's Skylar's mother, Auntie Ford, who asked me to come look for him."
Valerie quickly brought up Lillian's name because Lillian said that she had sent something to Skylar
before.
Hearing Lillian's name, Brenda nodded and went to open the door and said, "Come in."
"Thank you."
Valerie thanked her politely.
"President Holland is still having his breakfast. His morning rehabilitation starts at ten o'clock. You can
go to his room directly."
Brenda saw that Valerie was polite, so she dropped her guard against her.
"Is he doing physiotherapy every day?"
Valerie had actually regretted her actions on the way here. She only knew that Skylar's leg was injured,
but she didn't know to what extent. She didn't know anything.
"You're right. Every day, President Hollands spends the maximum time for a normal patient to
rehabilitate. From 10 in the morning to 12 then 2 to 5 o'clock in the afternoon. Sometimes, he will add
another two hours after dinner at night. A tight schedule like this is certainly unbearable for ordinary
people, but he has never stopped. It's really admirable."
Brenda kept nodding her head as she talked about Skylar's rehabilitation schedule, showing her great
admiration.
"Well, he has always been such a person."
Valerie replied and smiled slightly, putting on an appearance of being familiar with Skylar.
"Are you familiar with President Holland?"
Sure enough, it led Brenda to inquire.
"Well, I grew up with him," Valerie replied proudly.
"No wonder, but it's good that you're here. Please tell him that the rehabilitation program is a step-by-
step process. He can't be in a hurry. If he is too hasty, it might be counter-productive."
Valerie had twisted her words successfully and misled the nurse into believing that they were a couple.
"I will."
Valerie nodded and said.
The nurse sent Valerie upstairs and stopped at the corridor in front of Skylar's room. Then she pointed
at a direction in the corridor and said, "The room at the end of the corridor is President Holland's."
"I got it. Thank you."
Valerie nodded again and thanked her.
She carried the things on her hand and was feeling nervous because she had no idea how to explain
her presence. However, it was better to meet him alone now than to see him later in the place where he
would carry out the rehabilitation.
Valerie had also gone through physiotherapy, so she understood the reluctance of being seen during
the rehabilitation.
Valerie carried her things and walked to the end of the corridor. She knocked on the door of Skylar's
room a few times.
"Knock, knock, knock."
"Knock, knock, knock."
She knocked twice in a row, but no one responded.
Valerie was wondering if she got the wrong door.
"Skylar?"
She pressed her ears on the door and knocked on the door while calling out.
She wanted to check if there was any sound coming from inside.
However, the room was silent.
"Skylar?"
Once again, Valerie raised her voice, but it was still quiet inside. There wasn't any response.
"He's not here?"
Valerie stood at the door. Just as she was thinking about what to do next...
"Sorry, sorry!"
Brenda ran from the stairs and hollered in embarrassment all the way to Valerie's side before stopping.
She was panting uncontrollably when she finally stopped.
"What's wrong?" Valerie looked at her as she panted and asked, "Is this the wrong room?"
"No," Brenda stood there and gasped desperately. She took a few deep breaths before she said, "I just
found out that President Holland has gone to the rehabilitation area earlier today."
In other words, Skylar was not in the room now.
"Then I'll go find him in the rehabilitation area."
Valerie did not think much and replied.
"By the way, the next room is empty." When Brenda saw Valerie carrying a bag, she said kindly, "Let
me unlock it for you. You can put down your stuff before you come with me."
"Marvelous. It'll be more convenient for me to take care of him too."
Valerie was delighted to hear this.
Brenda went away and grabbed the keys. She opened the door for Valerie and said, "Put your stuff
here first. I'll wait for you at the stairs."
Valerie carried her bag into the room. The room was huge and there was a large amount of space
between each furniture. Even if one was in a wheelchair, they could easily move around in the room.
Even the bathroom was equipped with railings.
Valerie used to live in such a room, but it was not as splendid as this one.
She put down the bag and went to the rehabilitation room with Brenda.
At the door, Brenda told Valerie, "President Holland is inside. You can go in by yourself. He is quite an
edgy person and we are all afraid of him."
As soon as she finished speaking, she left.
Valerie stood at the door. She pushed the door of the rehabilitation room slightly open and peeked
inside.
As it was not the time yet for the physical therapist to arrive, there was only Skylar in the large
rehabilitation room...
Valerie stood there and watched Skylar as he carried out the rehabilitation activity alone. Her
expression slowly turned from delight to alarmed. She closed the door silently, left the rehabilitation
room, standing there in a daze.
When Brenda saw her coming out, she asked, "Why didn't you go in? Are you shy?"
"Is he... paralyzed?"
Valerie looked at her and asked in disbelief.
She thought that Skylar had only fractured his legs, but Skylar's action just now had clearly shown that
he couldn't control his lower body anymore, which meant that he was paralyzed... This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
"President Holland injured his nerves. Didn't you know that?"
Brenda looked at Valerie and seemed to have guessed what she was thinking. They had seen
expressions in that rehabilitation centre!
It was obvious that Valerie couldn't accept the fact that Skylar was paralyzed!
"I, I thought it was just..." Valerie couldn't hide her panic and bewilderment. She turned to look at
Brenda nervously and asked, "Will he recover? Can he stand up again?"
Brenda was immediately repelled by Valerie's behaviour. She regretted helping her so enthusiastically
just now.
Hearing Valerie's questions, she just shook her head and said, "It's hard to say. There is a very minimal
chance of recovery but I heard from the doctor that his situation is probably not the best."
The truth is, although Skylar's current recovery state was not too bright, he worked hard and
cooperated actively with the doctor. The doctor said that there was a great chance for him to recover.
"I see..."
Valerie instantly turned around and went upstairs to her room.
Her mind was filled with the thoughts that Skylar was going to be disabled. If Skylar accepted her and
married her at this point but he couldn't recover in the future, she would be married to a disabled
person.
If he couldn't feel the lower part of his body, he wouldn't be able to have sex with her, right?
Thinking of this, it suddenly dawned on Valerie that she still had plenty of choices in the world. It didn't
have to be Skylar. She felt that his huge assets and property didn't matter anymore.
Valerie had a secret; sex was essential in her life. She even had flings with a lot of different men when
she was abroad.
At this time, a doctor in a white coat came over. When he saw Valerie, he asked Brenda, "Who is she?"
"President Holland's mother asked her to come. She claimed that she was his childhood sweetheart,
but after she knew he was paralyzed, she flipped her character."
As Brenda had misunderstood the relationship between Skylar and Valerie, she felt that Valerie was
unworthy of Skylar.
