Wooing My Ex-Wife

Chapter 700

Chapter 700

At first, Charles only thought of her as an innocent and slightly foolish woman whom he could discuss marriage with.

Never did he expect her to be so tough in such situations. Evidently, he had underestimated her.

With a grim expression, Charles turned to leave the surveillance room, only to have Jessamyn stand up and get in his way again.

“Why do you care so much about her when you don’t even like her? This is her decision. You should respect it.”

“Get lost.”

Jessamyn was stunned. Although Charles had been indifferent to her for the past few days, he had never snapped at her. Is he actually mad?

While she was thinking about that, Charles suddenly reached out and grabbed her by the neck.

His grip was so tight that Jessamyn’s face flushed red. No matter how hard she tried to remove his hand, her strength was no match for the man.

“D-Do you really have the guts to k-kill me?”

Considering Jessamyn’s status as the daughter of the Cloud family and the fact that they were in the surveillance room of Seduction Bar, with the employees as witnesses, she was confident that Charles wouldn’t dare to cause her any harm.

She was correct in her assumption that Charles wouldn’t harm her in public. However, little did she know that it wouldn’t stop him from tightly gripping her neck.

With a gaze filled with fury, Charles leaned close to her, his breath brushing against her ear as he spoke in a low and menacing tone. “Don’t test me. There is a limit to my patience. In the past, I’ve been called a lunatic, a monster, and worse. When I lose control, I don’t behave like a normal human. If you truly wish to witness that side of me, I’ll gladly grant your request,” he warned.

Those simple sentences were infused with hostility, and the viciousness in his eyes made one wonder if he actually meant what the said. Anyone who met his gaze would surely tremble with fear.

As Charles loosened his grip around her neck, Jessamyn slumped to the ground with fear as if she was drained of her strength. It took her a long time to regain her composure.

This man’s so scary…

In the footage, Whitney could be seen swinging the broken wine bottle, making a few cuts on a few men who were trying to get near her. The situation was getting out of control.

Without wasting another second, Charles swung the door open and left to the private room based on the number displayed on the screen.

Meanwhile, Whitney’s voice could be heard from VIP Room 0555.

“G-Get lost! Don’t come near me! I’ll kill you!”

Her eyes were bloodshot, and her face, which was stained with blood had a look of determination.

She had underestimated the audacity of the drunken men.

Whitney only wanted to earn some money by providing simple entertainment, but instead of seeking harmless amusement, they wanted to exploit her vulnerability for their own gain.

Almost completely depleted of her energy and trapped by a locked door, the possibility of escape seemed distant and unattainable to her at that moment.

Am I going to be taken advantage of just like that?

Quiet tears poured from her eyes that were widened with fear. She waved the broken bottle in front of her, putting up one last fight.

Charles had just agreed to go on a date with me tomorrow. Will he still want me if he finds out I’m no longer a virgin? I’ve been pursuing him for five years. I can’t accept this.

Smack!

While she was lost in her thoughts, the middle-aged man swatted the bottle out of her hand.

Immediately after that, the men rushed over to grab her arms and legs, pinning her down on the messy table.

Some of them tore her clothes apart, while some tugged at her hair.

“How dare you run, b*tch? It’s an honor for you to service me, don’t you know that? Shameless b*tch!”

Hopelessness washed over Whitney when she realized she could not move.

“I’d rather die than let you guys humiliate me!”

She wanted to take her life right there and then.

As if reading her thoughts, the disgusting man ordered, “She’s trying to harm herself! Stuff her mouth. She has to finish her job before we take her to the suburbs to kill her.”

Right then, someone gripped Whitney’s face and stuffed a large ball of napkins into her mouth, stopping her from biting her tongue.

The middle-aged man burst out laughing and began undoing his belt and pants.

Before he could fulfill his twisted desires, however, the door was suddenly kicked open.

A resounding bang echoed through the room as Charles positioned himself by the door, emanating a chilling and menacing aura. “What do you think you’re doing?”

“Oh, it’s you, Mr. Newton.” The middle-aged man buckled his belt and made his way over to Charles. “We’re having fun. Would you care to join us?”

Charles’ gaze grew even darker as he reached into his pocket and retrieved his phone. He then made a call right in front of the men.

“Nico, I’m at Seduction Bar. There are six men in VIP room 0555 trying to assault a girl. Please come over with your men.”

His words sparked panic among the despicable men. F*ck! Is he actually calling the police?

To make matters worse, the person Charles called was Nico, the deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The men would be in deep trouble if they were arrested.

The group was stunned, and even the person restraining Whitney had loosened his grip on her.

Whitney fell to the ground weakly and scurried to the corner. She dared not look at Charles for fear of being recognized.

Smiling ingratiatingly, the middle-aged man said, “Mr. Newton, we were just having some fun with her. Look, she even hurt some of the bosses here. We were just giving her a little scare, that’s all. Surely

there’s no need to call Mr. Nico over from the Federal Bureau of Investigation?”

If it were the police, the men could still get out of the situation. However, things would not be as easy if the Federal Bureau of Investigation got involved.

Nevertheless, Charles continued standing by the door in a dignified manner, his gaze vicious. “There’s no use telling me that. You can save your explanations for when you get to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”

“Mind your own business, Charles Newton! Just because you’re in charge of Newton Group doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want. You’d better watch your back,” hissed the middle-aged man.

If the men didn’t leave immediately, it was only a matter of time before the people from the Federal Bureau of Investigation would arrive on the scene.

Despite their anger, the men were acutely aware of their own guilt and knew they stood no chance against Charles. In fact, traces of disappointment flickered across their faces as they realized that their plan had backfired and their ill intentions had been exposed.

Charles placed one hand on the doorframe, blocking the crowd’s path with the seemingly simple gesture.

“No one’s getting out until the people from the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrive.”

“Charles Newton! Don’t cross the line!”

The warning Charles received only served to amuse him, causing his brow to arch in a sly manner. With an evil smile, he retorted, “Since you all had the audacity to bully her, it’s only fair that I return the favor. I’m sure Nico won’t mind if I carry out a little public service on behalf of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”

The men in the private room froze at his words.

Within upper-class society, it was common knowledge that Charles possessed formidable fighting skills, owing to his previous position as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

In contrast, the men who confronted Charles were mere executives of companies, accustomed to a comfortable and privileged lifestyle. It was evident that they were no match for his expertise and combat prowess.

The middle-aged man turned to cast a puzzled gaze at Whitney who was hiding behind the table.

Growing desperate, he attempted to belittle Whitney in a last-ditch effort. “You know her? She’s just a woman trying to sell herself. Are you really defending her?”

Calmly, Charles responded, “I don’t know her. I simply wasn’t in a good mood and wanted to intervene when I saw you all bullying a woman.”

Despite the languid look in his eyes, Charles’s words held a sense of righteousness.

The men could not help but sigh.

They recognized the futility of challenging Charles, fully aware that they were no match for his abilities. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

The potential consequences, such as sustaining severe injuries or facing arrest and interrogation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, made the situation even less appealing.

After a moment of contemplation, they finally decided to give in.

The man who had been involved in the altercation earlier reluctantly retrieved a wad of cash from his wallet and placed it on the table. The stack of bills amounted to approximately ten thousand in total.

“I was wrong to hit her. What started as a joke went too far. This is my compensation to her. I only have this much with me. Please have mercy on me and let me go.”

In certain situations, yielding and accepting the reality of the circumstances became the only viable option.

The other men reluctantly followed suit. Each of them took out their wallet and placed the entirety of the money they had onto the table.

Moments later, about eighty thousand in cash was piled on the table.

“Please forgive us, Mr. Newton. We didn’t mean it.”

“We won’t do it again…”

The men begged for forgiveness as they handed over the money.

Nonetheless, Charles said nothing. All he did was stare at Whitney who was hiding under the table.

Unfazed by the men’s gestures of remorse, she remained curled up under the table, trembling with fear. Her frail and emaciated figure accentuated her pitiful appearance, evoking a sense of sympathy for the torment she had endured.

A frown marred Charles’ face as he observed the scene with displeasure.

Wasn’t she putting up a brave front earlier? Where did all her courage go? Now, all she’s doing is hiding.
