Chapter 703
Chapter 703
Gilbert's frown deepened instantly, ice cold disapproval flashing through his eyes.
"You just let her walk out alone? What if something happened to her? Would your hospital take responsibility? Can you even handle that?!" "No, she wasn't alone!"
The nurse was visibly flustered, shaking her head and waving her hands, "Mr. Ferguson came to pick her up!"
Gilbert's eyes widened in surprise, Edgar?
...
When they arrived at Sunset Ridge Community, Edgar parked the car in front of the apartment complex.
Walking Sherilyn to the door, he couldn't hide his concern, "I'll wait here. Just text me when you're inside, then I'll leave."
She had just been discharged from the hospital; it was better to be safe.
"Sure," Sherilyn responded with a smile.
Just as she turned to enter, a youthful voice called out from the side of the road.
"Mommy!"This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Sherilyn turned to see Jenna, initially in Sophia's arms, now running towards her with her little legs.
Grinning, she laughed, "Ha-ha, Mommy! It's you! Sophia said it wasn't, but Jenna has good eyes! It's definitely Mommy!"
"Jenna!" Sherilyn bent down, opening her arms to catch her daughter.
Unexpectedly, Jenna dashed straight towards Edgar, wrapping her arms around his legs, "Mommy hug!"
Sherilyn couldn't help but laugh, "Jenna?"
Sophia, catching up from behind, couldn't contain her laughter either, "Jenna, you bragged about your good eyesight, but look, is that Mommy you're hugging?"
Jenna looked up, puzzled. Why hadn't Mommy picked her up yet?
Instead, she found herself hugging a tall man.
Blinking, Jenna realized, "You're not Mommy!"
Yet, she didn't let go of Edgar's leg.
Edgar was more nervous than he'd ever been, this being his first time hugged by someone so small. He dared not move, afraid of causing her any harm.
Looking down at Jenna, Edgar mustered what he hoped was a 'kind' smile, "Hello, Jenna."
"Hi, sir!" Jenna, naturally lively and outgoing, greeted back without any shyness.
Edgar swallowed nervously. "Careful, don't fall. Do you want me to pick you up?"
"Yes, please!" Jenna nodded eagerly, reaching out her arms to Edgar.
Gently, Edgar lifted Jenna, holding her cautiously... such a tiny, soft bundle was utterly bewildering.
Seeing him so stiff and nervous,
Sherilyn tried to hide her

Obediently, Jenna leaped into her mother's arms.
Edgar let out a huge sigh of relief. Those few moments had him sweating bullets.

"Jenna."

"I rushed over and didn't bring you a gift. I'll make it up to you next time, okay?"
"Yes, please. Thank you, sir!"
"You're the clever one!"
Sherilyn teased, pinching Jenna's nose, "All eager for thanks, worried he might forget your gift, huh?"
"Giggles!" Jenna shyly burrowed into her mom's embrace.
"Silly girl."
Turning to Edgar, Sherilyn said, "We'll head up now."
"Okay."
"Let's go." Holding Jenna's hand, Sherilyn added, "Say bye-bye to Mr. Edgar."
