CHAPTER 8
CHAPTER 8
When she left, He went crazy
Chapter 8 They were tacit understanding.
Elissa sneered and commented, “You’re just average.”
I looked at her in astonishment, feeling puzzled.
“I slept with him once. It was a terrible experience, Elissa spoke harshly, disregarding Ivan’s presence.
Ivan got angry. That was my first time. You don’t understand anything!”
“Stop, I can’t bear this responsibility. You’re a womanizer. Don’t tell me it’s your first time. At the very least, your first time should have been with your left or right hand,” Elissa interrupted, pointing to his left and right hands.
Looking at the usually calm Ivan, he blushed at Elissa’s words. I finally understood their relationship.
They had a one–night stand.
Ivan should be pursuing Elissa.
Elissa ignored Ivan, leading me to a private room. “A senior student of our school returned to the country. Ivan and his friends organized a gathering, and they asked me to join for fun.”
“Which senior student?” I asked softly.
“You should know, it’s…” Elissa said, pushing open the door to the private room. Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
Several men were seated inside the room. Apart from a few familiar faces, there was a strikingly handsome man.
He was tall, wearing a white shirt with rolled–up sleeves. A crystal bracelet adorned his delicate wrist, which was wheat–colored.
The bracelet didn’t quite match his demeanor, seeming out of place. However, it seems he cherished it very much.
Almost simultaneously, he looked up and met my gaze. He smiled and stood up. “Hello! Long time no see.”
“Cecil!” I exclaimed joyfully. Then I chuckled, “It really has been a while. Your sudden departure abroad back then was quite unexpected.”

Christopher’s circle of friends were mostly his childhood playmates. They were also alumni with me and Elissa.
I got to know Ivan and others more after marrying Christopher.
Only Cecil Lewis, a senior in my field, was quite familiar to me from university.
Ivan teased playfully, “Yeah, I have no idea which woman broke Cecil’s heart. He left without a word. He didn’t even attend to your and Chris’s wedding
Cecil touched his nose, chuckling, “Don’t listen to his nonsense. Please, have a seat.”

“Yeah, please sit down.” Elissa urged.
Leading me to the sofa, Elissa sat me next to Cecil. “You and Cecil go way back. You two must have a lot to talk about.”
After settling in, she joined Ivan’s group, adding to the lively atmosphere.
Cecil asked, “Would you like some juice?”
“Yes, thank you, Cecil.”
I smiled, “Although you haven’t been back in these years, I’ve heard a lot about your achievements. You’ve won many
awards.”
“Have you been following my updates?‘ Cecil seemed surprised. His green eyes sparkled.
“Not really.”
I chuckled sheepishly, “It’s my assistant. She’s a big fan of yours. If there’s a chance, I’ll introduce you to her.”
“Sure.”
Cecil’s demeanor turned slightly cold. He gazed at me with soft eyes. “Are you happy with Christopher? People online say he spoils his wife.”
At his words, I hesitated.
I didn’t know why, but Christopher always liked to create the impression that he doted on his wife. I used to be immersed and addicted to this facade.
I tried to explain, “Online comments tend to exaggerate things.”
Cecil’s voice was light as he earnestly asked, “Are you truly happy?”
Apart from Elissa, he was the first person to ask me this question.
I lowered my eyelashes, smiling faintly. “I’m not sure.”

Cecil and Christopher were quite similar. They were both gentle, reserved, and composed.
He didn’t press further, smiling gently. “Then let’s leave it at that.”
But now, I realized they were completely different.
Cecil was naturally reserved and gentle, while Christopher’s actions didn’t match his true self.
Just like now, Cecil stopped asking because his upbringing didn’t allow him to pry into people’s privacy. If Christopher didn’t ask, it was because he didn’t care.
Christopher was quite indifferent.

The party continued until nearly dawn. Ivan was still clamoring to continue.
Elissa, considering my pregnancy, offered to drive me home.
Ivan suggested, “Let Cecil take her. He doesn’t like staying up late either,”
Elissa agreed.
However, I hesitated, wanting to decline.
“Come on, get in the car.”
Seeing through my concerns, Elissa pushed me into Cecil’s car, hinting, “Don’t worry, I won’t suffer any losses. Men’s minds are too complicated. I won’t focus on just one man. I’ll date them all!” she boldly declared.
I pinched her delicate and bright face. “Alright. Call me if you need anything.”
Cecil also got into the car.
Feeling awkward, I said, “Cecil, I live on Honor Road. Is it on your way? If not, I can take a taxi.”
“Are you being this polite with me?” Cecil joked.
Then he handed me his phone. “Help me with the navigation. I haven’t been back in years, so I’m not familiar with the
roads.”
“Sure.”
I took his phone.
There seemed to be no night in Jacquard. At this hour, the city center was still brightly lit.
I was worried that after not seeing Cecil for so long, we might have an awkward journey, but he always managed to bring up topics that interested me.
Being with him always felt warm.

Perhaps his stable emotions made me ask, Cecil, what would you do if you encountered a difficult obstacle?”
He furrowed his brow slightly, stopping at a traffic light, and looked at me.” Then find a way to get over it.”
With his calm yet firm tone, my tense heart from the night suddenly relaxed.
About twenty minutes later, the car pulled up in front of the villa.
Cecil helped me out of the car and handed me a gift bag. “A small gift. I hope you like it.”
“Cecil, thank you!”
Feeling much better, I accepted it with a smile. Tll treat you to a meal at your convenience.”

“Okay.”
Cecil smiled gently and couldn’t help but advise, “Make sure to eat well. You seem to have lost weight. Don’t let yourself become malnourished again.”
“Okay, I got it.”
I intended to enter the yard after Cecil left, but he said, “Go Inside. I’ll make sure you get home safely to fulfill Ivan’s
task.”
“Alright! Take care.”
With that, I turned and headed home.
At this time, Donna was already asleep. She left a hallway light on for me, and the house was very quiet.
After showering and lying in bed, I checked my phone.
There were many messages, but not a single one from Christopher.
I thought the worst would be him not coming home all night.
But I didn’t notice that there was an even bigger “surprise.”
With a heavy heart, sleep eluded me. When I woke up, it was close to noon.
Feeling hungry, I went downstairs. I noticed an extra suitcase in the living room and faintly heard voices other than
Donna’s.
Very familiar voices.
I furrowed my brow and looked around. My gaze finally settled on Christopher in the kitchen, wearing an apron and cooking, with Evelyn assisting him.
He reached out, and she handed him salt.
He reached out again, and she passed him a kitchen towel.
The two of them had an incredible understanding-
