Chapter 55 Someone Is Here

Annalise’s heart suddenly trembled.

His concern was always accompanied by action.

He was unlike Benjamin, who had said to her after she repaired the car, “Baby, you’ve worked hard!”

“It’s fine. I’m good at sorting. I’ll be done in a while,” Annalise said.

“I’ll help, but I can’t really tell. Let me sort this fruit,” Julian said.

“This is a gardenia fruit, and this is a malva nut. Don’t get it wrong.” Annalise said with a smile.

Julian also smiled. “One is yellow and the other is brown. I can still tell the difference.”

“Haha!” Annalise could not help but laugh.

Julian also smiled. He was happy as long as she was happy.

What kind of magical feeling was this?

Annalise sorted them for a few minutes before adding wood to the fire. Then, she picked up the firewood that had burned out and placed it in the shovel. This was good charcoal that could be used for barbecue.

She put the charcoal on the grill.

After that, she continued to sort the medicinal ingredients.

After sorting most of them, she started setting up the clay pot.

The clay pot was heated on the stove for about two minutes. Just as Julian was worried that the clay pot would explode, Annalise put a medicinal ingredient into it.

Then, she squatted down and used the tongs to stoke the fire below. The fire burned very brightly. Crackling sounds came from the clay pot as if the medicinal ingredients had exploded inside.

Immediately after, there was a hissing sound, like water evaporating.

Julian thought that it was amazing.

Seeing how focused Annalise was, he did not dare to speak for fear of disturbing her.

After all, this was a method of brewing medicine he had never seen before. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Immediately after, Annalise added a lot of firewood to the stove. She sniffed the small hole of the clay pot and added two more types of medicinal ingredients into it.

She stoked the fire again and made it burn fiercely.

After that, she took out a pair of gloves from the pocket of her jeans and put it on, then picked up the clay pot and shook it like it was a sieve.

This went on for five minutes.

Julian was shocked but did not dare to make a sound.

He saw that Annalise’s face was as red as an apple. Beads of sweat dripped down her forehead, and her eyes were fixed intently on the clay pot as she focused. Her eyes were beautiful like black diamonds.

Annalise finally finished shaking the pot. She took off one glove and picked up the ginseng. With the other gloved hand, she lifted the lid of the pot and put the ginseng in. Then, she quickly added

firewood.

She repeated this over and over again. Sometimes, she would add one medicinal ingredient, while other times she would add two or three medicinal ingredients. Every once in a while, Annalise would shake the pot. She shook it desperately until she was sweating profusely, but she did not care.

The weather was probably too hot so in just half an hour, Annalise’s T-shirt was completely soaked, and it stuck to her body.

Julian looked at this scene and felt desire burn in him.

He cursed himself for being a beast. His wife was working so hard to brew medicine for Samuel, yet he was actually thinking of sleeping with her.

He wanted to add more firewood to the fire, but Annalise refused. She asked him to barbecue and keep watch

instead.

He immediately placed the skewers on the grill one by one. Then, he imitated how people barbecued on television and poured barbecue sauce on all the skewers.

50 minutes later, Annalise felt exhausted. Fortunately, she could already smell the medicinal fragrance. The medicinal fragrance in the early stages was pure. If nothing went wrong, it could basically form a pill later.

Moreover, the first 50 minutes was the most critical period. All she needed to do now was control the fire. She squatted down and took out some burning firewood to gradually reduce the intensity of the fire. Because Samuel was holding a birthday party, Albert, Christopher, and Cassandra arrived at the house in the afternoon.

Julian’s cousins had also arrived.

Most of them had a better relationship with Alexander because Julian had always been cold and distant. Meanwhile, Alexander liked to smile and was friendly to everyone.

Furthermore, Tony was Samuel’s only son. Even if Samuel sent him abroad, he still had a high status in the Parks family.

With Tony protecting Alexander, most of the cousins in this generation were close to Alexander.

After Horington’s news reached Jadeborough, they supported Alexander even more.

If one loved someone, they would extend that love to everything related to it. Since they supported Alexander, they were naturally friendly with Abigail.

Jessy Parks, who was the granddaughter of Christopher; and Jane Hiller, who was the granddaughter of Cassandra; became close to Abigail as soon as they arrived at the Parks’ residence.

In the evening, both of them held each of Abigail’s arms and went out to take a stroll.

Strolling was just an excuse, of course. They mainly wanted to get to know Abigail better.

Abigail was more than happy to do that..

She had been taught by her mother since she was young that socializing was very important. If you managed to squeeze your way into the upper-class circle, then you would be a member of the upper class sooner or later.

She had come to Jadeborough to gain a foothold in the circle here. Alexander and the other girls were just her springboards and bridges.

The three of them all had their own motives as they chatted and laughed.

Jessy and Jane were particularly eager to know about Annalise, hence they kept asking questions about Annalise

“Abbie, I heard that Annalise Barton grew up in the countryside. Is that true?”

“I also heard that she has never gone to school and can’t even read the words on the recipe. That can’t be true, can it?”

“It’s all true.” Abigail instantly felt superior whenever Annalise’s background was brought up.

She was so much better than Annalise in every aspect!

No matter if it was in terms of status, education, knowledge, taste, or talent, Annalise couldn’t compare to her at all.

“Pfft, it’s actually true. I thought it was just a rumor. At that time, I thought that even if she didn’t go to school, she would still be able to read a recipe book. After all, my sister’s son is only three years old, but he has already learned so many words just from watching cartoons.”

“She was brought up in the countryside, what’s more in a village like Horington. They probably didn’t even have television.”

“That’s true. Some places are really remote. Not to mention televisions, some places don’t even have electricity or communication facilities. You have to use kerosene lamps as a source of light and shout to communicate.”

“Haha. Abbie, does Annalise speak loudly? Is she rough? I watched a program once where it said that some people from remote villages speak especially loudly.”

“She’s alright. It’s just that she has a bad temper and is quite mean,” Abigail replied.

Jane laughed out loud. “Uneducated people must be mean… Hey, why does it look like there’s a fire over there? Oh my god, could it be a fire?”

“Let’s go and take a look.” The three women immediately walked toward the small bungalow.

Hearing the footsteps, Julian frowned unhappily. He said to Annalise, “Stay here. I’ll go take a look!”

“Take that!” Annalise gestured to the grill with her chin.

“Okay.” Julian secretly praised Annalise’s meticulousness and immediately took a few skewers of barbecue.

As he walked out, the three women walked in.

He stopped them at the entrance immediately.

Seeing Julian, Abigail couldn’t take her eyes off him again.

He seemed to be sweating a little. He looked even more handsome and charming like this.

When Jane saw that Julian’s T-shirt was drenched in sweat, she was stunned for a moment before asking. “Julian, what are you doing?”
