CHAPTER 4
Traizle
After we talked, he immediately sat beside a man and ate the food the man had given him. I went to the counter to ask the owner.
“Do we have any orders to deliver?” I asked the owner.
She stopped writing and stood up. “I was waiting for you to come here.” the owner answered before pulling out something from her apron.
It surprised me when she handed me a large sum of money.
“What is that for?” I asked, baffled by the situation.
She pointed at Zarsuelo. “It is from him,” the owner answered. “He paid the money you lost, saying he does not like to be in debt to anyone.” she explained.
“How about the payment for this event?” I asked.
“He paid for it as well.” the owner answered.
We looked at him. He was busy munching the food in front of him. He does not look like he has a lot of money, but based on his physical outlook, I can say that he kinda has it.
They are now getting ready and dressing up after finishing their meal. They even stood up altogether before saying, “Thank you for the treat, sir.” they exclaimed before bowing.
“Sir?” The word came out of my mouth.
A girl nodded. “Ah yes, he is our boss.” she said after she heard me.
“Boss?” I asked again.
“Yes, he owns a big company near here.” The girl answered, which made me look at the owner.Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Are we hearing things right? Is he a boss and owns a big company near here?
“Does he really own a company?” The owner asked.
“Yes, he is. Mr. Zarsuelo does not look like one, but he really is,” she said. “I thought you guys knew him since you talked for a while.” she added.
I shook my head. “We do not really know him,” I shared. “I just met him tonight.” I added.
They started walking out of the snack bar. Zarsuelo was the last remaining inside.
“The food here is fantastic. I ate too much tonight,” he complimented. “I can recommend this store to my friends. I had a good time here. I think we are now on good terms, right?” he added.
We quickly nod our heads, showing we agree with his statement.
“Thank you! I gotta go now.” he said before walking away.
We were quiet for a few minutes. I cannot believe what we have heard. He does not really look like one.
“I was about to fight someone who really owns a big company. I am digging my grave, am I not?” I asked myself.
If he is one of those evil rich people, I am in my grave already.
I did not work overtime tonight. Since I earned a lot of money, it is okay to go home early. When I got home, Layzen was sleeping soundly, unlike the other one, who was still awake.
“You are early.” Lyndon said, surprised by my early arrival.
I usually go home at two or three in the morning, but now it is still twelve o’clock at midnight.
“Zarsuelo paid for the last night.” I answered as I sat on the floor while removing my shoes and socks.
“Really? How about the food?” He asked.
I shrugged my shoulders, “He did not ask for it,” and put my shoes on the shoe rack. “Instead, he called his employees to eat at the snack bar.” I added.
Lyndon got up from our bed. Looking at me with his enormous eyes, he was intrigued by what he was hearing from me. “It’s a good thing he knows it’s his fault, and he even paid, so that settles everything.” he said, nodding his head and holding his chin.
I agreed, “It is a good thing that I did not do something bad for myself, although I called him an a*shole.” I shared.
Lyndon laughed at me. “You already did something bad. It is just that he did not entertain it.” he replied.
Well, he complained about it, but he said nothing more than that.
“His employee told me he owns a big company near the snack bar.” I said, sharing the news we had learned.
“Big company?” He was surprised. “What company is near the snack bar?” He added.
I thought about what big company was near the snack bar.
“Brandless.” Lyndon started talking about the big company near the snack bar.
“Stellar company?” I am unsure if it is one or not.
“That is one of them,” he said, correcting me. “Grand finance.” he added.
Do we really have many big companies near my work?
“Smartsale and Dwellsmith as well.” Lyndon mentions almost every major company he is familiar with.
I was amazed. “You know those?” I asked.
He nodded. “Of course, I just do not look like one, but I do,” he answered with his smug smile. “You work everywhere, but you do not know them?” He mocked.
I shrugged. “Do I really have to memorize every company I encounter? I do not have, right?” I excused.
Let us just say that I lost naming big companies with him. He surely knows some things like this that I do not, I admit that.
“Which one of them?” he asked.
“His employee didn’t tell me which one.” I replied casually.
I do not need to know more than that. We would not see each other next time, so I do not really have to know him.
It is so hot today and I am wearing a girl with an ice cream head mascot.
Why does it have to be this hot on Saturday? When I am working on this kind of work.
A friend of mine asked me if I wanted to do this onetime job. The store is newly open, and since it is new, they are having an event. Me and Jake, my friend, are the mascot while dancing and distributing some flyers to the passersby.
I am hungry as well. The heat can make you hungry and dizzy at the same time.
“Thank you, please try our shop today.” Expressing my gratitude to those who are accepting the flyers.
Suddenly, I am not the one who is distributing it. A group of people are getting their own flyers from me. I cannot see clearly, but I can not understand why the table is turned, but I am thankful though. It will make our work easier and faster.
I can also hear the snapping of the camera shutter. Did a star go here? Or any famous person who could have created this?
“Matthew is really handsome in person!” A girl exclaimed beside me.
So, a really famous person came here. The store owner knows how to promote his store, huh?
An hour passed, and I did not have any flyers with me anymore. All I did after that was wave my hand and hug the kids approaching me. I checked Jake to see if he was done giving out his flyers. He looks like he is done and is now just dancing to the loud music.
I swayed and follow the flow of the music. They won’t know who I am, so I can just go with the flow.
After the song ended, one of the staff pulled us in to enter the store.
“Guys, you can now take off the mascot.” the staff said.
“Are we done already?” I asked, almost shouting, for him to hear me.
There are still many people inside and outside. Is it too early for us to stop since we can gain more customers?
“Yes, the boss told me you guys are done already.” he answered.
I quickly removed the head, for me to ask once again.
“It is still early. Is he sure about it? How about our payments?” I asked in confusion.
A familiar voice said, “Oh, you are also working here.”
I find the owner of the familiar voice, finding Zarsuelo standing beside the store owner.
Why am I seeing him for days lately?
