CHAPTER 2
Tomorrow morning, Traizle took Layzen and Lyndon to their school. Lyndon’s school is a few minutes’ walk from Layzen’s kindergarten school.
“We are here.” Traizle said when they got to Layzen’s school.
Her younger brother looks up at her. “Who will fetch me later, after school?” Layzen asked.
Traizle matched her brother’s height and fixed Layzen’s hair. “Your brother will fetch you later, after school.” She answered.
“He is fetching me too late. I always told him to fetch me as early as possible.” Layzen said, throwing a tantrum.
She ruffles Layzen’s hair. “You have to understand him. Your class ended a little earlier than his. He had to run as well to get here,” she explained. “But don’t worry, I will try to tell him to run faster. Is it okay?” She asked.
He nodded. “Alright.” Layzen answered.
Traizle smiled. “Study hard. See you later.” She said, then kissed Layzen’s forehead.
“Take care of your work. I will be a good boy, so do not worry about me.” Layzen said before entering his school’s gate.
Traizle watched her younger brother until she could not see him anymore. She looked at her watch and that made her run as fast as she could. She is late with her work and she might get scolded by her manager.
Upon entering the restaurant where she was working, her co-workers could not be found inside the kitchen. She immediately fixed herself and put on the things she needed to wear before going out to the dining area.
She could hear some noises from the outside, so she quickly went out to see what was happening.
“Traizle!” Linda, one of her co-workers, exclaimed.
“Why?” She looked confused. “Is something happening?” she added.
Linda nodded immediately. “There really is! Help our manager over there!” she answered, frightened at the mess happening.
Traizle held Linda to help her calm down. “What happened first?” she asked. “Calm down and tell me everything quickly.” She added.
Linda nodded. “Do you remember the man who was hitting on Kim recently?” she started sharing. “He went here again today to eat his breakfast. He even said that he wanted Kim to deliver his order, and that is what we did a while ago.” she added.
“So what is the problem with that?” Traizle asked because she could not see the problem with her story.
“While Kim was placing his orders, he kept on asking Kim, and then a girl suddenly walked in furiously. She even hit Kim, saying she was a gold digger and more.” Linda continued.
Traizle nodded and immediately went to the place where it was happening.
“You poor flirt!” The woman yelled and tried to attack Kim again.
Fortunately, she was being stopped by the male staff.
“Ma’am, can we talk about this thing privately? We are disturbing our other customers.” Their manager said, trying to calm the girl.
“I don’t care! That bitch is trying to flirt with my boyfriend in front of my eyes? How dare she be? ” She answered, fuming with madness.
“Excuse me,” Traizle butted in. “Ma’am, you are crossing the line already.” she added.
The woman arched her eyebrows. “Crossing what line? You do not know what happened here and you imply that I am wrong here?” She asked.
Traizle nodded and looked at her in the eye. “Yes, you are. I am watching you from our CCTV room. You went in furiously and attacked one of our staff,” she answered, arching her right eyebrow back at her. “You are the one who does not know what happened and here you are, disturbing our customers.” She added.
“Where the hell am I wrong? Why are you siding with your flirty staff when she is the one wrong here? I am a customer! I am always right!” The girl exclaimed.
Traizle snorted. “Your a*shole boyfriend tried to hit on her a few days ago. He even asked Kim for her number, but Kim was not interested in him at all. He has been here a few times already. We also know that he is secretly showing Kim some signs of affection, like asking the waiter to deliver his food,” Traizle replied. “We can sue you for hurting our staff when she is innocent. You can talk to her nicely, but you embarrassed her in front of many people, including our other customers. We can show you our CCTV room and watch your boyfriend’s actions. Remember, you are not here as our customer. You ordered nothing; you are only here as our customer’s boyfriend. Every customer may complain. If it is right and just, we would say nothing. But this is too much for us already, don’t you think?” She added, making the girl behave next to her boyfriend.
A few seconds have passed when the girl walks out of the restaurant, leaving her boyfriend alone. The man was about to stand up as well, but Traizle stopped him.
“We are still not done here, sir.” Traizle said that made the man sit again in his chair. “You made this mess, so do not go out without saying sorry to Kim. Your girlfriend hit her.” Emphasizing the word girlfriend while raising her sleeves and stretching her neck clockwise.
The man gulped, shivering from his seat.
“Do not let me see you outside. You are not my customer outside. Do not waste food. Enjoy your breakfast, Sir,” Traizle said, emphasizing again the word Sir. “Sorry for the inconvenience, Ma’am and Sir!” she added, bowing to the other customers they disturbed.
Other staff went back to their work. Traizle and the others went inside the kitchen.
“Are you okay?” Traizle asked Kim.
Kim nodded. “Thank you very much.” She thanked.
Traizle held her hand and said, “No problem. It is good that you are fine. I was wondering why the kitchen was too quiet a while ago. Seeing you guys outside, I knew that there was something wrong,” Traizle said and faced their manager. “Ma’am, I am sorry I am late.” She said, then bowed a little.
“Apology accepted since you helped me fix the mess outside. If you were not here, maybe we are still there, trying to calm the girl’s nerves.” Their manager said that made them laugh.
Her co-worker added, “Raising your sleeves was the best part.” Resulting in a big laugh.
“You are our girl bouncer, indeed.” Linda added while showing two thumbs up.
They went back to their work after the small talk.
“Traizle,” the chef called her. “Table fifteen.” the chef added.
“Okay, chef!” Traizle answered before getting the tray with the food.
Traizle went out of the kitchen and walked to table fifteen.
“Excuse me, sir. Here is your order: grilled cheese, French toast, and cappuccino. Where can I put these? Should I get another table for your papers?” Traizle said.
“Yes, that is much better. Thank you.” a man answered while collecting the papers on the table.
Traizle put their orders on the table after they collected the papers. She got another table for them to put their papers on without getting dirty from their food.
“Enjoy your breakfast, sirs. Have a blessed day ahead.” Traizle said before leaving.
“Should we add desserts? I want some sweets.” Traizle heard them talking.
She cannot believe a business-minded person likes sweets. He even said it out loud without getting shy. She went back to the counter and saw Linda.
“How is your work?” Linda asked questions pertaining to her work and other sidelines.
“They are okay. I can still provide for my brothers’ needs.” Traizle responded.
Every weekday in the morning, she is a waitress at the restaurant and a food courier in the evening. She works every weekend, handing out flyers or promoting products and working at a convenience store at night.
Before their break time, she asked their manager to go out for a while. She needs to go to Lyndon’s school, handing over the money to buy the other four books. She even borrowed the money from her co-workers, just to buy the books.
“Did you buy the first four books already?” Traizle asked after handing him the money.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Lyndon nodded. “Yes, luckily I don’t have to write anymore,” he answered. “Are you still in your uniform?” He asked.
“It is our break time. I asked our manager to go out for a while to hand you the money. I have to go back after and work overtime to recuperate from the time I spent here.” Traizle answered. “I will go now. Take care on your way home with Layzen later.” She added.
Traizle is now entering the snack bar, finished with her third customer’s order.
“Ten sets of Set A and ten cokes. What is your name, Sir?” The owner of the snack bar said while talking with someone on the phone. “Zarsuelo-”
“Boss, can you ask him where he wants to deliver it?” Traizle butted in.
The owner asked what Traizle had said. The owner looked at her while pointing to herself and at her after gesturing to the number one.
“Give me the phone,” Traizle said, and she got the phone from the owner. “Zarsuelo, deliver to Fox Street, right?” She added.
“Yes, you got it right.” the man answered back.
She sighed. “Stop pranking us. Please do not waste our food with your prank,” Traizle said before ending the call. “Does he still have the guts to call us again? He is taking us like a fool.” Traizle said after giving back the phone.
“Good thing you heard me. We will get pranked by him again if that happens.” the owner said in relief.
After a few minutes, a man went in, looking angry.
“I am Zarsuelo, the man who tried to order but got misled by someone,” a man named Zarsuelo said when he approached the counter. “And I am offended too.” he added
“I am the someone you are talking to.” Traizle replied, looking sharply at the man.
