Chapter 14: Not Returning Overnight
Kemp Ross really didn’t come back all night, Phoebe Barnes lost sleep and waited all night, no phone calls or text messages, and got up in the morning depressed to the extreme.
The already unrecovered body, the face looks even more haggard and the spirit is a little weak.
The maid knocked on the door to summon her to breakfast before she came downstairs.
Mr. Ross Sr. sat at the table and waved at her, “Phoebe, come sit over here.”
Phoebe Barnes saw that Genny Ross and Bonnie Ning were also there, and walked over to them, pulling a light smile on her face, “Good morning, Grandpa, good morning, Aunt Ning.”
When Genny Ross saw her coming down alone, his eyes rolled and he gave a deep smile, “Where’s brother? You didn’t come back last night, did you?”
Sr. Ross seemed to notice as well and looked up at Phoebe Barnes, “Kemp didn’t come home last night?”
Phoebe Barnes sat down, hiding her scowl and smiling calmly, “Well, he told me he had something to do at work and didn’t come back in the evening.”
“Really?” Genny Ross sipped his milk, his eyes shining brightly, as if he wasn’t going to let her off so much, and added, “But Sister-in-law looks so pale, she didn’t stay up all night, did she?”
Looking at her pale face, Mr. Ross also knitted his brows and said with concern, “Did you not rest well last night? Or your body is not healed, let’s have the doctor come over later to take a look.”
“No, Grandpa, I’m fine, I’m probably just a little uncomfortable with Kemp not being here last night.” She glanced at Genny Ross and shook her head at Grandpa with a smile.
She’s willing to put up with everything from Kemp Ross, and that’s because she loves him, but that doesn’t mean that she can put up with everyone’s nonsense.
As for Genny Ross, she just treats her as a child and doesn’t want to pay much attention to it.
But things are not as they should be, and some people always like to stir up trouble by virtue of their childish words.
Genny Ross didn’t stay quiet for a while, and then pretended to look naive and asked, “Sister-in-law, are you going to be popular? You’ve been at the top of the search list for two days, and the most popular stars don’t seem to have this kind of treatment.”
Phoebe Barnes’ expression finally stiffened a bit and explained in as calm a tone as possible, “Those were all misunderstandings, and I’ve asked my agent to explain.”
“I’ve asked Kemp to take care of this matter, Phoebe, grandpa won’t let you suffer, and your marriage will be announced soon.” Master Fu looked at her and his face became serious.
But the words turned, the old man smiled gently again: “However, this work is too hard, grandpa still want Kemp to arrange an easier job for you in the company, and, you are not young, married for so long, it is time to have a child.”
Even if the old man said it euphemistically, Phoebe Barnes still heard the point, the fire and water of the entertainment industry has always been the shame of the gentry, and the Ross family as the gentry of the gentry, even if Master Fu likes her again, it may take some time to accept her career.
The last thing the Ross family needs is money, and no one will feel the need to make money as a playwright.
But probably she is the only one who understands that she really needs the money.Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.
As for the child …
Phoebe Barnes swallowed the bitterness in her mouth, showed a shy expression and whispered, “Grandpa, it’s something I’ll think about.”
Bonnie Ning, who was elegantly eating, had a flash of something under her eyes very quickly, and suddenly looked at the old man with a joking smile, “Dad, I think you want to hold a grandchild, right?”
The red lips curved up and smiled attentively, “After dinner, I’m going to go shopping with Genny, just as Phoebe also followed along. Auntie is a person who has been there, so she can also give you some advice.”
Shopping?
Phoebe Barnes wasn’t in much of a mood, but with that latter half of the sentence, she couldn’t find the words to refuse, and could only nod with a light smile, “It’s Aunt Ning.”
