Chapter 70
Chapter 70
Derek looked at Meredith. Her face was slightly red and glistening sweat was hanging from the tip of
her nose as if she had just done a vigorous exercise.
"Did you come running here?"
"Um... No, I was afraid you were in a hurry, so I hurried over." Meredith didn't say anything about Ava's
matter as she guessed that Derek probably didn't want to listen to such disgusting gossip.
Hearing her say this, Derek's lips curled up slightly and he took the document. "I didn't expect you to be
so dedicated."
Meredith nodded absent-mindedly, still thinking about Ava's matter. Derek looked at the crowded venue
again, and there were many single women waiting for him and wishing to get close to him.
Derek was fed up with this boring hypocrisy, so he took a look at Meredith, who was about to leave. "I
happen to need a female companion. Since you're here, you're my companion."
Meredith then came to her senses and stared at the man in front of her, eyes wide opened.
He must be joking. She was still wearing the black and white uniform of the Xavier Group, and the
socialites inside were all wearing exquisite custom-made dresses. If she went in with that suit, she
would be a joke.
"I'll take you out to buy the dress later." Derek said faintly, clearly not giving Meredith any chance to
refute.
He said this with a very firm attitude, so Meredith could not say anything. After all, Derek was her
benefactor." But, if I go with you, will I cause you any trouble?
"What kind of trouble will there be? In J City, no one dares to make trouble for me."
With that said, Derek pulled Meredith into the car. Soon, the car drove to a slightly remote place. "Right
here."
Meredith got out of the car obediently and looked at the sign in front of her, feeling a little touched.
Derek brought her to a place called Lanmeng Salon, the most famous image design salon in J City. In
the past, when her mother was healthy, her mother brought her here from time to time. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
Her mother always said, "Mer is my little princess. Of course, you should dress up beautifully."
This salon was full of her endless memories. Seeing it again, Meredith had mixed feelings.
Derek parked the car and saw Meredith paused at the door, not going in. He was about to say
something, but he could tell the deep yearning and sadness in her eyes. With an indecipherable
sadness in her silence, this version of her was very attractive.
Unconsciously, his tone of urging became much softer, "Let's go in."
Meredith nodded and walked in behind him. Then, she thought of something. "I remember we need to
make an appointment here. Shouldn't we get an appointment first?"
"You're the one who needs an appointment, not me." Derek said domineeringly. Sure enough, as soon
as he and Meredith walked in, someone came over attentively and took them to the VIP lounge.
It seemed that she had underestimated Derek's influence in J City. Although Meredith's life was good
before, it was still far from the Xaviers's.
The two of them waited for a while. A man with long hair to his shoulders came in. He saw Derek, and
then looked at Meredith on the other side, and smiled wickedly. "Is this the sun coming out of the west
today? Mr. Xavier, you have brought a woman here? You haven't been here for years."
Jameson looked at Derek, and there was a sense of humor in his words. They were friends, so they
talked to each other without restraint.
Derek glanced at him. "Nonsense. Hurry up and pick out the dress for this woman and help her make
up."
Seeing that Derek was still as difficult to deal with as usual, Jameson shook his head and looked at
Meredith, who was sitting uneasily at the side.
She was dressed very simply, with no makeup on her fair and clean face, but her skin was crystal clear
and did not have any blemishes such as pores and color spots. She was dressed in an ordinary
uniform, but because of her curvy figure, she was extremely attractive.
Jameson's eyes lit up. He could tell she was a piece of rough jade that needed to be carved, and as
long as she was properly decorated, she could bloom with beautiful luster.
Meredith felt uncomfortable at his stare, but Jameson didn't feel anything was wrong. After staring at
her with burning eyes for a while, he walked into the fitting room and quickly picked out a few dresses
for her.
"Go and try these on."
Meredith obediently went to change her clothes, and while she was away, Jameson came over to tease
Derek.
"Your taste has changed a lot. Didn't you like those bright and moving women before?"
Of course, Jameson would not forget the enviable relationship between Derek and Chloe. Plus, there
was no woman around Derek after that. He had thought that Derek would wait for Chloe to come back
and marry her, but he didn't expect Xavier Chloe to bring another woman here today.
"I had only had one girlfriend before. How can you summarize that?"
Derek was telling the truth. He was a proud man. There were not many women who could get into his
heart. But his only advantage was that once he determined to love someone, his love would not be
easily changed.
But now, he seemed to have changed.
"That's right. I told you long ago that you should look for other good girls."
Jameson patted Derek on the shoulder. Unlike Asher, who was a firm supporter of Chloe, Jameson felt
that both of them were too proud, and therefore they were not a perfect match. Instead, this seemingly
weak girl in front of him made him feel more suitable for Derek.
Meredith got her clothes changed and walked out.
Jameson picked out a beige dress for her. It looked simple, but the woman who wore it was not pure
enough, she would look awkward.
But the dress suited Meredith well. Her fair skin was not darkened by the color of that dress but was
brighter and she looked more elegant thanks to her curve.
"Well, not bad, not worse than Chloe." Jameson was satisfied with his taste and subconsciously said
that.
When Meredith heard this, she was stunned. Chloe... Who was it?
She subconsciously looked at Derek and found the man glaring at Jameson fiercely. Knowing that he
had said something wrong, Jameson quickly laughed and went to help put on Meredith's makeup.
Meredith watched Jameson help her with exquisite makeup, but she never forgot the name Jameson
just said.
Chloe. She seemed to never hear of such a person, but Derek seemed to be familiar with her.
As a woman, Meredith's intuition told her that Chloe's relationship with Derek was definitely not simple.
"Mr. Curry, who is the Chloe you were talking about?" And Meredith couldn't help but ask.
Jameson was shouting in his heart. He shouldn't be talking nonsense. Now, he got involved.
