Chapter 47
Chapter 47
Meredith, who got totally drenched, was so cold as to tremble. When she heard this, she felt colder.
Her father was in the living room, and he should have seen how it all happened, but he was still so
partial to Clara.
Was this the man her father, whom her mother had loved and sacrificed the entire life for? Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
Meredith forced a smile and sat down on the leather sofa across from Wesley, not caring that the
smudge on her drenched body would soak the expensive sofa.
Since he cherished the expensive furniture, then she had to smudge pieces as many as she could.
Otherwise, how could she be worthy of Clara's "thoughtful hospitality" ?
"Mr. Xavier had better let your wife treat her eyes rather than nag at me. She didn't see me when I was
out there alone. Maybe she was blind. If she is sick, she should see the doctor quickly so as to prevent
her illness from worsening. If she misses the boat, the consequences would be unimaginable."
Clara's smile turned unnatural as if she had not expected Meredith to be such a scoundrel. She didn't
even give a damn about politeness.
"Qimo, I really didn't see her. Well, let's forget about it. I'll go get Mer a clean set of clothes."
"I don't need your hypocritical kindness." Meredith refused without a second thought. Who knew if there
would be some needles in the clothes she brought? Clara could do such a dirty thing.
Wesley was also enraged. "Shut your mouth. She's your elder. How come you spoke to her without
respect?"
"I don't have an elder who would splash dirty water on a guest. My only elder was my mother." Meredith
looked coldly at Wesley's angry face and said word for word.
"Forget it. That's it. I have something to say to you."
Meredith smiled faintly. When a conversation went into an unfavourable situation, he would change the
subject. Her good father had never changed.
"Your sister's commercial endorsement should have been smooth, but why did you sabotage it? Now
that she's been hurt by this, you should go get her endorsement back."
Get it back?
Meredith was almost amused by his righteous tone.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Xavier. I've already said that I can't make Derek's decision. Back then, it was you who
said that I was his plaything and I should not gloat over that. "
"So, how dare I give him an onder?"
Meredith mimicked the tone that The Masons had humiliated her, making an eye for an eye and a tooth
for a tooth.
"You!" Of course, Wesley could know what was her meaning. But when he thought of his little daughter
who was anxious about this endorsement, he didn't care if he ate his words.
"Anyway, you have to let your little sister land this endorsement. I don't care whether you cry or beg
before him. You just have to make it."
"I'm sorry, I can't do it. Derek said he wouldn't let anyone interrupt him on business matters. He
wouldn't bother to listen to his grandpa, not to mention me."
"Or, let me put it this way. If I really have the ability to change Derek's mind, why don't I just let him take
revenge on the Masons? Isn't it too painless to just cancel Ava's unimportant endorsement?"
As soon as Meredith spoke, there was a tearing pain on her scalp. Wesley pounced on her with a
ferocious face and slapped her left cheek.
Wesley slapped with full strength. It made Meredith suddenly hear a buzzing sound in her ears. With
the humming in her brain, she could not be level enough to think.
"You wicked girl. I shouldn't have given birth to you in the first place. You should have died in prison.
You still want to retaliate against the Masons. Have you forgotten your surname and the blood of the
Masons in your body?"
"Hehe, I don't care. If I could, I don't want a disgusting man like you to be my father. What does the
Masons have to do with me? I wish it was broken up now!"
Meredith's blacked out for a moment. She coughed twice and yelled at Wesley.
Having looked at the angry look of the man in front of her, she didn't see any trace of his gentleness,
which he had used to show outsiders. He was a madman, a devil.
Wesley was so angry that he tried to swing at his daughter with the stool at hand.
Usually, when he heard her words, he could still maintain his usual composure and even ridicule
Meredith with disdain.
But now things changed. Meredith had climbed the social ladder because of Derek, and everything was
different. With Derek's power, it would be easy to destroy the Masons. So he would not allow this to
happen, even if the chance was small.
"Calm down, this is no joke!" Clara was startled and quickly grabbed Wesley. Then she called for some
servants. "Go and lock Meredith in the storage room and let her calm down!"
Meredith was dragged into the storage room by a few people. The slap she received just now made her
weak. Besides, men who came to catch her were tall and burly. So she was unable to resist at all.
With a bang, she was thrown onto the cold concrete floor without mercy, and the door was quickly
locked from the outside.
Meredith got used to it for a while before she recovered. She coughed twice and touched her swollen
cheek. A dull pain immediately hit her, causing her to pull the corners of her mouth. She frowned
uncomfortably because of the lightly sweet blood in her mouth.
It was really hard. If Clara hadn't stopped him, he would have killed her.
...
Derek waited at the Xaviers for half an hour, but Meredith still didn't come back.
She didn't even call again. Was this provocation or... Did she really find a backer and want to run
away?
There was a chill in Derek's eyes, and he had the urge to find the damn woman and tear her into
pieces.
"Go, find out where Meredith is now."
On a rare weekend, Damian was on a date with a girl, and then he received an order from a phone call.
Meredith... Shouldn't she be with boss?
Damian was completely confused about what had happened, but Derek's angry voice made him not
dare to ask any more questions. So he could only accept his fate and look for Meredith.
...
Meredith stayed in the storage room for a while, and soon the afterheat that had been on her body
dissipated.
It was winter, and when you stayed in a place without heating, you could feel the chill air trickling into
your body and spreading through your limbs.
Meredith moved his slightly stiff fingers and touched the cold and aching joints.
She often felt chilly like this when she had been in prison, so some joints suffered rheumatism.
Normally, it was fine since the heating was always on in the Xaviers, and it wouldn't be cold at all, but
now...
She suddenly thought of what Derek had said to her. She wondered what was going on with the man
and if he had already thrown all her things out.
Having thought of the man's angry expression, Meredith shivered, stood up, patted the door, and called
for someone to let her out. But for a long time, no one paid attention to her.
