Chapter 1274
Chapter 1274
"Seriously, this kind of silent killing gadget is right up an assassin's alley. I bet they hoard them like
crazy, which explains why Geoffrey had one," Beverley remarked, curling her lip in distaste.
Skyler started to play some tunes while Beverley jotted down notes on a music sheet beside him.
They'd listen for a bit before pausing the track, making sure they weren't swayed by the rhythm or
melody.
"This music is just painful to the ears," Beverley complained, clicking her tongue in annoyance.
"That's probably why it could drive someone to off themselves," Skyler pointed out, "Don't
underestimate the power of a good melody. It can save souls or end them."
After hours of effort, they finally managed to transcribe the score.
"Aunt Beverley, take a look at this. Notice anything off about the score?" Kane asked.
"Well, aside from the unusual leaps between octaves, I can't say anything jumps out at me," Beverley
admitted, "Maybe Geoffrey is just playing us for fools?"
"I knew it. The guy's a born liar, and you can't trust a word he says," Skyler puffed out her cheeks in
frustration.
"Maybe we're just missing something. No worries, and we'll figure it out," Kane reassured her.
Emerging from the study, William headed to the kitchen for a snack.
Leopold strolled in, "William, I'm whipping up a beef stew for your mom. You want some?" He asked
casually.
William shook his head, "Your stew doesn't hold a candle to Dad's."
Leopold was momentarily speechless, chastising himself for even asking. William's mouth sure couldn't
spit out anything sweet.
"Your mom prefers my stew," he countered.
William stuck out his tongue, making a face, "Only because Dad's not around."
Leopold reached out, pinching William's cheek. As his fingers touched the skin, he felt a jolt.
That texture...
William shook off his hand and turned to leave, but Leopold grabbed him, "William, are you wearing a
mask or something?"
A wave of panic washed over William, "What are you blabbering about?" He struggled against the grip,
but his small strength was no match for Leopold.
Leopold's grip tightened, and he soon found the edge of the mask, "You really are wearing a mask?"
William burst into tears, "Mommy. Uncle Leopold is picking on me," he wailed.
Leopold remembered the first time he saw William, always with a mask, which later seemed to have Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
disappeared.
Now it appeared William had never actually taken it off but switched to a more realistic mask instead.
"You're Liam, aren't you? You wear a mask because you're the spitting image of Kane."
William felt his heart in his throat; his little secret was out. "I'm not any Liam. I wear the mask because
of social anxiety," he lied.
At that moment, Aurelia rushed in. "Leopold, what in the world are you doing? Let go of William this
instant."
Leopold released him, but he still insisted, "Make him take off the mask."
Aurelia's heart sank. The secret was out.
Leopold understood then.
William had always known his true identity. With a face mirror image of Kane's, how could he not
suspect? But he didn't want to come back, and he didn't want to be Liam, only wanted to be Arnold's
son. New chapter avаilable oո Drаmаnovels.com
He let go, and William dashed out like a scared kitten.
Leopold watched Aurelia with a steady gaze, "He's Liam, isn't he?"
