Chapter 1144
Chapter 1144
"Daddy, we need to keep Nova safe and can't let any spooks get close to her. They'll scare the living
daylights out of her."
Arnold couldn't help but laugh and cry at William's words, "Don't worry, with Daddy here, not even the
bogeyman would dare to come near you guys."
Kane glanced at Leopold, "Dad, do ghosts really exist?"
Leopold gently patted Kane's head, "Whether they exist or not, there's nothing to be afraid of. The only
thing in this world we need to be wary of is other people, because they're the ones who can hurt you."
"I understand," Kane nodded, absorbing the wisdom of Leopold.
Ghosts never scratched others, but people did.
In the hotel, Aurelia woke up after a short nap feeling peckish. The morning sickness was hitting hard
this time around, and her appetite was shot. During her first pregnancy, she was ravenous for
everything from pickles to ice cream.
Just then, there was a knock at the door. She opened it to find Lisa standing there, holding two cups of
what looked like milkshakes.
"We got some milkshakes to share," Lisa said with a faint smile.
Aurelia, pregnant and not in the mood for milkshakes, still took them with a smile and set them on the
coffee table.
"Didn't you watch the fireworks show, Lisa?"
Lisa shook her head, "Not my scene. Just enjoy the shake." She poked a straw into one of the cups
and handed it over. Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
Aurelia chuckled, "My stomach is a bit off right now. I'll just let it sit for a bit, maybe drink it later."
Lisa placed the milkshake down, "I'm kinda thirsty. Mind grabbing me a glass of water?"
"Sure," Aurelia stood up to pour her a glass, feeling a strange vibe from Lisa but unable to put her
finger on what was off.
As Lisa's hand dipped into her pocket, she pulled out a switchblade and began to stealthily approach
Aurelia.
Raising the knife, she lunged at Aurelia with a swift thrust. But Aurelia, catching Lisa's reflection in the
window, dodged with reflexes instantly and grabbed a water jug from the table, hurling it at her attacker.
The loud crash alerted the bodyguards outside, who tried to burst in. But they found the door locked by
Lisa and had to resort to kicking it down.
Struck by the jug, Lisa seemed unfazed, knife still in hand. She went for Aurelia again, chanting, "I'm
gonna kill you..."
Aurelia, quick-thinking, grabbed a woolen blanket from the floor and threw it up, tripping Lisa who was
standing on it and sending her tumbling.
With her back soaked in cold sweat, Aurelia cried out in confusion, "Lisa, what's gotten into you?"
But Lisa, hair disheveled and eyes a frightening red, snarled back, "I'm gonna kill you..."
As she clawed for the knife, slicing her fingers without a flinch, she lunged once more.
That was when the door flew open, and a bodyguard tackled Lisa from behind, throwing her off to the
side. As she hit the floor, the knife clattered away.
"Madam, are you alright?" another bodyguard asked, swiftly securing the weapon.
"I'm fine, just... don't hurt her," Aurelia trembled her voice, her body still shaking from the shock.
The guards restrained Lisa, who continued to thrash wildly, repeating her mantra, "I'm gonna kill you..."
