Chapter 1076
Chapter 1076
"Look, if he can't handle the game, he should just bow out," she said with a wicked grin that sent a
shiver down Aurelia's spine.
"Jelena, you're not still plotting against Fredric, are you?" Aurelia asked with a note of worry in her
voice.
Jelena tapped her Aurelia's head lightly and replied,"Silly girl, drop the revenge talk. Chloe and I were
close, but that's ancient history. I wouldn't stir up a hornet's nest over a friend, except for my sister with
bonds," she said with a mischievous twinkle in her eye.
Aurelia hoped that was true. She didn't want to see her cousin ruin her happiness for the sake of
vengeance.
Let bygones be bygones. The living must live on.
"You know, you're not getting any younger. It's high time you found a decent guy to settle down with
and make your mom rest easy at night," Aurelia teased.
"Why rush to tie the knot?" Jelena chuckled seductively. "I'm young, rich, and good-looking. I've got a
killer figure. Why would I chain myself to one man? A woman should never hang her heart on a single
branch."
Aurelia sighed inwardly. Jelena was becoming more and more of an enigma to her.
When she returned to Stirling Manor, she found Nina and Mira had arrived.
Ever since Sheryl vanished from Stirling Manor, probably to dodge the whole messy divorce affair,
Jessica worried about her influence on the kids, so she brought them over.
Nina was devastated, crying her eyes out. She was convinced their father would soon bring home a Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
wicked stepmother.
"Stepmothers are always cruel," she sobbed, "they'll make our lives miserable."
Mira, with her chubby little hands, patted her sister's back. "Don't cry, Nina. Mama will come back
soon."
"Our home is gone. Mama and Papa are divorced. Now he'll find a stepmom who'll yell and hit us,"
Nina wailed like a little raincloud.
Jessica stroked Nina’s head gently. "Silly child, your home is right here with the Stirling family. If
anyone ever bullies you, you just tell me. I'll give them what for."
"But the stepmom is going to be Aunt Aurelia's cousin. She'll definitely take her side," Nina sniffled.
Aurelia handed her a soft tissue. "My cousin might not even be your stepmom, sweetie."
Nina blew her nose. "Why not? I saw Dad ordering a huge pink diamond ring. He's definitely going to
propose to her. He must be at her place right now."
"Just wait till Dad comes back. His face will tell us if he popped the question," Aurelia said with a sigh.
"Why did you vote for them to divorce, Aunt Aurelia? Because the other woman is your cousin?"
Nina held a hint of accusation to Aurelia, which seemed to parrot Sheryl's complaints.
Jessica said firmly, "Aurelia didn't decide this alone. It was the family council's unanimous decision.
Your mother made a mistake and she can't stay with the Stirling family because of it."
Nina blinked in confusion. "What mistake did Mama make?"
"She dug up someone else's grave," Kane said, descending the staircase. "Grandma said if Sheryl
didn't leave, she would curse the fortune of the Stirling family and bring disaster upon the
descendants."
Mira shivered. "Why would Mama dig up a grave? Wasn't she scared?"
"I heard that person was killed by Sheryl, so she dug up the grave worrying the ghost would haunt her,"
Kane said with an air of authority.
Nina declared, "Mama must've been driven mad by Papa. She used to be so kind. It's all because
Papa wanted to divorce her. He's to blame for her breakdown."
Jessica patted her head softly. "Remember never do wrong by others. Sooner or later, those who do
will face their comeuppance."
