Chapter 1046
Chapter 1046
Fredric scoffed, "Magnolia can't hold a candle to Jelena. She's just a low-level employee, plain-looking,
and not exactly a spring chicken. Chad's only interested because he's had his fill of high-maintenance
types and never tried that type. Other than Chad, when would she ever stand a chance to marry into
wealth? But Jelena's a different story," he continued, his voice tinged with awe, "She's like an angel
among women. The line of wealthy bachelors chasing after her could stretch from Elysium to Paris."
Jessica pursed her lips and shot back, "Then how come she's set her sights on you?"
Fredric replied, "She doesn't even fancy me. I've been on her tail for four years, and she finds me so
annoying that she quit her job and fled the country to avoid me. If it weren't for that party where she got
sloshed and I took advantage, do you think she'd even consider giving me a chance?"
Pleading, he added, "Mom, I really like Jelena. Please help me out here. I swear, I'll die if I can't have
her."
Jessica sighed, "If we were just an ordinary family, I'd say do as you please. But we're not. The Stirling
family has strict rules, and we can't just indulge every whim of yours. If I allow this, it sets a precedent,
and then what? The wives will start questioning me. How am I supposed to explain that?"
Fredric said, "I just hope Leopold won't exercise his veto. Let me campaign for my cause. If I still get
voted down, I'll accept it."
Leopold spoke in a grave tone, "Sheryl must've talked to you, right? She's willing to divorce you if you
transfer your assets to Nina and Mira's names."
Fredric's face fell, "Was that your idea?"
Leopold replied, "I was hoping you two could settle this amicably without dragging it before the family
council. A little compromise from both sides wouldn't hurt."
Fredric snorted, "That's like leaving me high and dry. I worked hard for that fortune. Why should I just
hand it over?"
Leopold advised, "You're not giving it to her but to Nina and Mira. They're your daughters. Ensuring
their future is no loss to you, and you can always make more money."
Fredric pouted, "I'll only give half. In the Stirling family, it's customary for the sons to be the main heirs.
Daughters only get living expenses from the trust fund. Giving them half is beyond generous."
Jessica could see the resemblance between Fredric and Chad; they both shared a cold nature.
"And who do you plan to have a son with? Jelena?" she asked pointedly.
Without hesitation, Fredric nodded. "Yes, I want to have a son with Jelena. She was pure for me, and if
I can't make her my wife, I owe her something. She doesn't need the money. What else can I give her?"
Jessica realized this was an obsession, a fixation no force could pry him from. © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
"And you have no affection for Sheryl anymore?" she queried.
Fredric shrugged, "You know I wanted to marry someone else back then. I only married Sheryl because
she got pregnant. There wasn't much love to begin with. The woman I loved took her own life because
of the mess, and I ended up with a bad reputation until you stepped in and smoothed things over."
Jessica sighed; she remembered the incident all too well. The girl who suicided was Sheryl’s close
friend. Though she miraculously survived, she was left in a vegetative state.
Such a tragedy.
"Alright, your request will be considered by me and Leopold. Regardless of your feelings for Sheryl,
Nina and Mira are your daughters. You must live up to your responsibilities as a father."
"I understand," Fredric nodded dutifully.
