Chapter 25: It’s time to leave
“Ah! Japan? I don’t like the Japanese, let’s stay in England! Our country is so beautiful and the people are beautiful, it’s so nice!” Gar Gills always hates the brutal and inhumane Japanese army whenever she sees those Japanese war movies.
“Oh… you, ah, don’t you know that your sister’ craft of creating comics is my only means to support you! My art has no international distinction!” Octavia Gills coddled Gar Gills as she explained.
“What if we live there for a long time, in case you marry a Japanese, and in case I accidentally marry a Japanese girl, then can we both still go back to England? Besides, our mother would faint if she saw a Japanese son-in-law and a Japanese daughter-in-law… your plan doesn’t work quite well, sis!” Gar Gills seriously disliked Octavia Gills’ plans for the future.
“Can’t you think of something better in that big head of yours. Besides, I will help you get an Englishman’s daughter, so put your mind at ease.” After pulling the covers back up for Gar Gills, she said, “I’ve only taken the morning off, I’ve got some packing to do at noon, and I’ve got to get back to work this afternoon! You have a good rest here, sis is off, remember to call me if you need anything.”
“Okay, just go ahead, I’m old enough to take care of myself!” Gar Gills laughed at Octavia Gills’ verbosity!
Octavia Gills wrote a note of indebtedness and enclosed a letter of farewell to Tredan, and put all her belongings from the old Group Davi house into her suitcase. When she first came here, she had moved in with this suitcase, but now it doesn’t fit in this little box?
That one expensive designer bag, that one noble and beautiful dress, and that pair of shoes as dreamy and beautiful as Cinderella’s crystal shoes.
These are the gifts that Tredan brings back to her from his business trips. Tredan told her that they were given to him by his clients to give to his young mistress. The Drye Family’s only heir, Lilian Drye, was a childhood sweetheart, and they were a perfect match for each other.
She couldn’t afford it, but fortunately she had always preferred something plain and hadn’t used them, except for the watch she is holding, which Tredan said he bought for her and gave her because it looked so good on her.
Except for this watch, which she is taking with her, she is leaving the others stuff which did not belong to her. She arranged them neatly and meticulously packed them back into each gift box that it came from.
Octavia Gills put the keys on the table and left with her suitcase, telling herself that she had fulfilled her role as a stand-in lover, that Lilian Drye had already returned, and that she should return to her own world in peace. She didn’t look back as she walked out, afraid that if she did, she wouldn’t have the courage to leave.
Love knows no bounds, but a love affair…
If you don’t know where the edge is, you will be in danger once you are there.
I’m just a passerby to you after all!
Tredan.
I’m off! It’s time for me to go back to my world!
Thank you again for helping me save my brother’s life and supporting me when I was at my loneliest and most helpless, what you did was more than I could ever repay. I will always remember this time with you. The manuscript on the bed was the one I wanted to give you for your birthday, and I don’t know if you liked it? But I took it upon myself to keep it by your side.Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
I have written an IOU regarding my brother’s medical expenses. I may not be able to give a lump sum to repay this huge sum, but please trust me that I will pay you back a certain amount every month.
In the third drawer I have stocked some stomach pills for you. You have a weak stomach, so please take care of your health no matter how busy you are.
I charged your razor before I left this morning. It’s in the middle drawer on the first shelf.
Oh… this is getting a bit wordy! So much for saying goodbye!
If you are well, I am at ease! Finally, I wish you complete happiness with Ms. Lilian. –Octavia
When Tredan returned home from work, the Group Davi house was cold and silent, then he saw the note and letter left by Octavia Gills. Tredan roared like a lion! Who gave her the permission to leave without my permission! Who gave her permission? Who gave her the nerve to leave him? He pushed all the things on the table to the floor, his eyes full of murder. Only, he didn’t know why he was so angry at the moment. “You can’t get away! Wherever you go, I will find you and drag you back here.” Tredan grinned coldly.
It has been so long since she had slept in her own room, that she was almost unaccustomed to it. Octavia Gills stretched herself lazily and got up to wash up for work! As long as she was busy with work, she didn’t have time to think about the things she shouldn’t be thinking about. Not wanting to stop for a moment, Octavia Gills quickly went to change her shoes, got her bag and opened the door, only to be greeted by a smiling Eddison standing at her door with a bouquet of white roses in his hand.
“Ah… what are you doing here?” Octavia Gills was scared out of her wits, it was early in the morning, was this GM that free?
“I’m here to pick you up for work!” Eddison said, Octavia Gills was startled, making her feel frightened. Me?
“Really… General Manager!”
“Geez, don’t be such a baby! Let’s go, we’re late!” Eddison didn’t give Octavia Gills any chance to clarify. He pulled her into the street. But to Octavia Gills’ further horror, it wasn’t his sports car that he used to picked her up, but a super cool motorbike. Oh my God, what’s wrong with the managing director? Octavia Gills, who was sitting behind him, thought uneasily that if it had been a small car, at least no one would see her, and she would not be seen by her colleagues in the company. The motorbike, no matter how hard it was going, was going “bang, bang, bang” all the time, and it was catching the attention of all the passers-by. What should we do?
Eddison looked in the mirror and saw that she had been lost in thought, and when she wasn’t looking Eddison deliberately applied on the brakes. With an “ahhh”, Octavia Gills’ hands tightened around Eddison’s waist out of human instinct, closing up the distance Octavia was keeping.
“Slow down, General Manager, life is too precious to be tossed around!” Eddison almost cried with laughter at Octavia Gills’ comment and teased her, “I’m not driving like that, it’s not a big deal if I’m late, but it is a big deal if you’re late for work, you’re just a new supervisor, it’s for your own good. If you’re scared, just hold on to me, you won’t fall off!” Eddison, stepped on the gas and sped down the congested highway, weaving left and right, and soon arrived at the entrance of the subsidiary company with the frightened Octavia Gills, still unconsciously clutching at Eddison. Not far away was a black Mercedes with eyes on Octavia Gills’ arms around Eddison.
Tredan arrived early in the morning at the subsidiary where Octavia Gills worked and drove up to the front door, only to see Eddison, whom he hated, driving his lover to work in such a sweet embrace. His hands gripped the steering wheel tightly and his eyes fixed on Eddison’s every move. Sitting in the car with the heavily-tinted windows, Tredan heard two or three employees who passed his car gossiping.
“Look, this Octavia Gills has no shame, she’s hooked up with our General Manager, even with that look she can seduce and charm him, so you can imagine how clever she is!” One woman in a tight pale blue dress and looked very flirtatious in her high heels, spoke to the other two with a hint of malice.
“I’m not sure, but from what I’ve been told, this Octavia Gills has been trying to hook up with the GM in a bar even before he even took over the company. That’s why she was given a promotion on his first day at work, everything was just an act in front of us.” This one was even more blatant than the other who had just spoken. She was heavily made up, and the bawdy-mouthed one had no sense of restraint in disgracing Octavia Gills.
“Really? Gosh, to hear you say that, I never thought people can be like that.” This one was dressed as a svelte, clean girl, just young enough to be gossipy.
“You’re still a young girl, and yet you can see Octavia Gills tactics! How clever! I heard that a few days ago, she accompanied the general manager on a business trip where a treasurer was not really needed. I do not know what kind of sorcery used, because after one night, the general manager sent her to assist him in the business trip. The two were inseparable in Beijing. They have just come back to work, but now, the general manager has gone to pick her up and drop her off at work.”
“This woman, she’s shameless.”
She was with him on a business trip? Was she with him for those three days and nights, and were they inseparable? Did she leave the old Group Davi house in such a hurry so that she could see him freely? Damned that woman! Damn!
Tredan stared hard at Octavia Gills and Eddison, the air in the car freezing with his deep, cold eyes. He would not leave Octavia Gills alone. The corners of his mouth flicked upwards, leaving a wicked smile on his face as he stepped on the accelerator. The car passed beside Octavia Gills like an angry master, causing a flurry of sand to be blown up by the wind and get into Octavia Gills’ eyes, who vaguely though she saw Tredan’s silhouette in the car.
“Do you know how to drive? Really! Octavia, is your eye okay!” Eddison delicately blew Octavia Gills’ eyes that had gotten sand in them.
“General Manager, I’m fine, I’m going to clock in.” Was she dreaming? Was it him? Octavia Gills thought about it and began to laugh at herself, why will Tredan had come here to find a her.
“Octavia, wait, you haven’t taken this flower yet?” Octavia Gills, who didn’t know Eddison had caught up with her, and even called her name ‘Octavia’ by Eddison in such a big crowd, and holding the flowers? God, she could have been drowned alive by the spittle of the crowd!
“Why are you still standing there? Take it, you need the smell of flowers in your office!” Of course, Eddison knew what Octavia Gills was afraid of, he just wanted to tell her that he was serious about her, not just child’s play, but an open and honest relationship between a man and woman who is not afraid to let anyone know.
After Eddison’s unashamed tirade, rumors of the relationship between Octavia Gills and Eddison quickly spread through the subsidiaries, and even to the head office. As to how their relationship was portrayed, many versions of the story have emerged, but they all seem to suggest that Octavia Gills was shamelessly and unscrupulously seducing the second prince of Group Davi, and that Octavia Gills was doing this to turn herself into a phoenix.
