The ceo’s secretary

Chapter 21

A strange number has been calling me since the early morning, and whenever I picked up, the caller hung up. It was strange, and I wondered who it could be. I have never gotten such strange calls before in my life, and the fact that someone was trying to mess with me was terrifying.

“Peter,” I thought, or who else could it be? He was the only one that I wasn’t on good terms with. I wondered what else he wanted from me after that scary event that happened two days ago.

I thought of talking to Jason about it, but I decided not to, because he might take it badly and hurt Peter.

Peter meant so much to me, even though he acted the way he acted, even though he showed me a side of his that I wasn’t aware of. We’ve shared so many things together. We’ve made memories that I wouldn’t want to erase. I once loved him. I once cared for him, and I still care for him, and I wouldn’t want anyone to hurt him, even though what he did to me two days ago still hurt.

Before noon, someone walked majestically to my office and walked straight to the adjoining door, putting on a crop top and a micro-mini skirt.

“Excuse me, miss. Excuse me,” I called out.

She put her hand on the door handle before turning back to look at me.

“Yes, how may I help you?” She asked

“Dixie!” I thought and almost lost my professionalism.

“Mr. Stokes is not available right now; if you don’t mind, can you sit down for some minutes and let me inform him about your presence?”

“Fuck off,” she cursed and eyed me before pressing the door handle.

I rushed after her to stop her, but she was faster and was already in the middle of the office within a second.

“Hi, babe,” she called and waved at Jason.

“Miss Dixie…” I called

Jason cut in, “Don’t worry, Lexi, go back to your office; I can handle this.”

I stayed rooted to where I was; I wasn’t going to leave her alone with my man dressed like that.

“Lexi!” Jason said a little bit harder.

“Ok sir”

I closed the adjoining door and put my ear on it to eavesdrop on their conversation.

“Dixie, what are you doing here?”

“I’m here to see you in person since you stopped picking up my calls.”

“You shouldn’t be here, Dixie. This is my office. We can talk later.”

“Stop acting like a professional right now, baby; stop acting as if you don’t miss me.”

“Dixie,” Jason called.

“You missed it, didn’t you? I’m all yours, baby. Do me the way you like,” she moaned.

Was she seducing him? Was he playing along? Why was he not resisting? Different thoughts were running through my brain.

“Oh baby,” Dixie moaned. “Yeah, just like that.”

“Just like what?” I thought.

I took my ear off the door and went out of the office. I would rather go on a walk than listen to her moans as Jason pleasured her with what I thought was mine alone.

It had been five long minutes since Jason and Dixie had been inside together during God knows what, and I was a few seconds from losing it and going back inside to claim what was mine when I saw two securities men rushing to my office.

“What is happening?” I questioned myself and followed them.

They opened the adjoining door, and we all saw an almost naked, desperate Dixie who was clinging tightly to an angry Jason.

“Jason, please,” she pleads desperately as she pushes one of her breasts, which was nakedly in our full view, into Jason’s face.

“Securities” Jason commanded

“Ok, sir,” they chorused, and they moved towards Dixie to disentangle her from Jason.

“Get off me!” She screamed as she fought the securities. “Jason, don’t do this to me,” she cried as the security started dragging her away with her hands and legs.

“It’s all because of you, bitch,” she said to me as the securities dragged her past me. “You’re going to regret it.”

“Watch it, Dixie,” Jason said back to her.

“I’m being serious. She will regret it. Both of you will regret it. I will make you pay for this,” she faded off.

“How did she know about us?” I thought

I moved closer to Jason to calm him down, but my mind was far away. The thought that Dixie knew me and knew about us while I knew nothing about her was scary.

What if she was the strange caller?

“Lexi, I’m talking to you.”

Jason tapped me.

“Yes”

“Are you okay?”

I nodded my head.

“Or are you worried because of her words? She was just angry. She can do nothing.”

I nodded my head in understanding, but I knew I wasn’t going to erase her from my mind anytime soon because I was sure that she was stalking me in one way or another.

“You’re overthinking this, babe,” Jason said worriedly.

“No, I’m not. I’m just… I don’t know… I’m just curious.”

“About what?”

“About the fact that she knows we are together.”

“She don’t. She is just guessing.”

“But…”

“Come here, baby. Come here” I moved closer to him; he hugged me and started rubbing my back. “You’re overthinking this. She can do nothing, okay?”

“Okay”

“Or do you want us to leave and go back home?”

“No, I still have a lot of things to do.”

He released me, and I went back to my office with Dixie still on my mind.

I left my phone in my office because I didn’t want to be disturbed by the strange calls before meeting up with Stephanie during lunch break, and I ordered an egg and avocado sandwich while Stephanie ordered almond-crusted (baked) chicken nuggets.

“I heard Dixie was the mad woman that was dragged out of Mr. Stokes office this morning,” Stephanie said.

“Yeah, she was,” I replied.

“What do you think happened between them? They once loved each other.”

“How was I supposed to know? All I knew was that she came to his office half naked, and then the securities came.”

“Poor woman,” Stephanie pitied, “and less, I forget, when did you get back home from that business trip?”

“I…” I trailed off when I noticed that there was a change inside the restaurant. Everyone seemed to be super quiet and attentive, and I also turned my head to see what was happening.

“What is he doing here?” Stephanie murmured to herself.

It was Jason, and I knew I was the one he was searching for with the way his eyes were moving everywhere.

“I’m here,” I said as I was getting out of my seat.

He saw me, smiled, and motioned for me to follow him.All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

“What’s happening?” Stephanie asked me

“I will catch up with you later. I got to go,” I said to her as I pushed back my chair and followed him.

“Why did you leave your phone behind?” Jason asked me when we got inside the elevator.

“I didn’t mean to; I forgot to take it along with me.” I liked

“I’ve called you more than ten times. You got me worried.”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.”

“And what are you doing with that girl?” Jason asked

“Which girl?

“You know the girl I’m talking about, Stephanie.”

“She is my friend.”

“Your friend?” Jason asked curiously.

“Yeah, my friend. I’ve known her since my first day here.”

“And you didn’t care to tell me about it,” Jason said furiously.

“Why should I? Don’t I deserve to have friends?” I asked back angrily.

Jason sighed and tried to calm down before speaking again.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it that way. What I was trying to say is that she isn’t the type of person that I want you to be moving with.”

“But she is a good person.”

“I know she is, but you can’t understand. I have my reasons. Just stay away from her. She isn’t someone you can move with. Will you do that for me?” Will you?”

“If that is what you want, yes, I will.”

“Thank you”

“You are welcome.”

“And your lunch is waiting for you in my office.”
