The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike

Chapter 1138

Chapter 1138

“Thank you for today. Aiden had a good time.” Amelia could tell that her son was in a good mood that day.

“This is what a father should do. You don’t need to thank me. I owe Aiden too much.” Warren hesitated for a moment and continued, “Amelia, what you saw in my office the other day—’

His voice was laced with some kind of anxiety when he spoke.

Nonetheless, before he could finish his words, Amelia interrupted him, “You really don’t have to explain it to me!”

“But aren’t you my wife?” Warren stared at her with fervent eyes. Behind his gaze was a touch of imploration. “Even if in the future… we’re doomed to face a divorce, but at least now you’re still my wife, Amelia, so shouldn’t you learn a little about it?”

His words and his look impeded her drive to come up with a retort on the spot.

“That day, Alicia came to look for me and told me about what it was like when you were in jail. I… I was lost in thought for a moment and didn’t notice that she was approaching me. When I came around, you had already shown up at the office,” Warren cooed.

Amelia might not have the slightest desire to listen to him, but persisted in explaining everything to her. Letting his wife get 1 was the last thing he wished for.

That made Amelia’s eyelashes flutter slightly. Little did she imag oto say those things to Warren that day.

A hititter simile marrèd Warren’s mien. He thought that Amelia must not

Truth be told, Amelia did not love nor hate him. Maybe by the time they got divorced, she would only regard him as a stranger, nothing more.

Then came Warren’s speech on a solemn note. “Anyway, if you need any help, you can always come to me at any time. I… I’ll do anything for you.”

Amelia shook her head in return. “You’ve done more than enough for

me!”

At that juncture, a vehicle drove over and stopped at the door of the shop. That was Lucas.

The minute Lucas caught sight of Warren, he was also stunned. Immediately afterward, he flashed a smile and greeted the latter. “Good day, Mr. York.”

Warren acknowledged that rather briefly.

Amelia, in turn, received Lucas and served him a drink.

Lucas took a couple of sips of the drink before moving the goods from the car into the store while Amelia kept herself busy inventorying the items.

The two of them whispered among themselves about the merchandise, which made Warren feel that he was an outsider all of a sudden.

He had always felt out of place in Amelia’s world. Despite the fact that he had been trying to get close to her all those years, the woman turned him away coldly.

Even so, when she stood side by side with Lucas, she appeared relaxed, talking and grinning casually.

Step by step, Warren exited the concession stand.

Perhaps he really should not have expected more, and perhaps he o to have accepted reality.

He had no place at all in the lady’s heart.

Just as she had mentioned, his explanation was never required.

Warren returned to his car and revved up the engine. Just like that, he drove away slowly from the concession stand.

The last thing he saw in the rearview mirror was Amelia smiling at Lucas.

That smile of hers was, sadly, not shown to him for ages.

Warren withdrew his gaze, telling himself again deep down that maybe it would be in her best interest if he stopped bothering her.

After completing the inventory of the goods brought over by Lucas, Amelia looked up, only to find no trace of Warren at the concession Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

stand.

Out of the blue, a sort of disappointment surged in her heart that even she could not put a finger on her own feelings.

She wondered if Warren had quietly departed without a word.

“Eh? Did Mr. York just leave?” Lucas’ surprised voice rang out,

“Mm. He’s gone,” said Amelia.

“Did you and Mr. York reconcile and get back together already?” probed Lucas.

Amelia was surprised, thus denying, “No. We’re just like before. We’re not really an item.”

Embarrassed, Lucas scratched his own head. “I thought you guys got back together again. Just now you looked around searching for him like you were afraid that you’d lose him. I thought you two had something for each other…”

Lucas’ unintentional comment only served to sweep up waves of emotions within Amelia.

She was not convinced that she was afraid of losing Warren a minu In her book, that was nearly impossible.

Be that as it might, the remnants of dejection inside her seemed to be reminding her of something.

She began to waver, pondering whether she still had feelings for Warren, or she was actually unaware of her feelings for that man.

At night, Jonathan came out of the bathroom and glimpsed Rosalie reading a book about law but being in a daze.

He approached the lady, reaching out and wrapping his arms around her. He put his lips close to her and whispered in her ear, “What’s on your mind?”

08:52

She suddenly regained composure, blushing slightly.

They had already been married for some time, yet his intimate act out of nowhere could still make her heart flutter unwittingly.

“I was thinking about the things between Amelia and Warren,” muttered Rosalie. “When Amelia and Warren showed up today, they really felt like an ordinary family of three. Aiden was all smiles, and Amelia also didn’t seem to repulse Warren that much like before.”

“So?”

“So, I thought maybe Amelia and Warren would really be in bliss once they got together. I didn’t like Warren at first. He did too many wrong things to Amelia last time, after all, but over the years, he has been standing by her and never had any fling with any other women. I think he’s truly in love with Amelia,” said Rosalie.

If one were not head over heels for another, they could have stood by their loved one for so many years.

“He must love Amelia far more deeply than most people can ever imagine,” uttered Jonathan. “But the thing is, Amelia is frostier than most/ people. Should she be like an average woman, she would’ve long forgiven the man.”

Rosalie replied, “That’s because Amelia had been hurt too deeply before. She acts so ice-cold only because she’s heartbroken and has giv hope. So, even if she forgives Warren, she won’t get back to h
