So what if I did
“You’ll pay for the sins you’ve committed.”
With those words, Mrs. Heath left the premises, with her husband by her side.
Jayden was unfazed by the commotion. However, the tranquillity that followed the couple’s exit was short-lived.
Soon, the sound of his cell phone ringing broke the silence. A furious voice came through the other end.
“Will you really go that far for a woman?? Jayden, I’m warning you. Before I take things into my own hands, you better release Madison.”
Hearing William’s roar, Jayden instantly held the phone away from his ear. He had little patience for his father’s outburst. Hence, he passed the phone to Rick, who stood nearby.
Rick accepted the phone and answered respectfully. “Old master,” he began, his tone steady and measured, “this matter is not as simple as you think.”
The Heath Corps. recently invested in constructing the largest amusement park in the South. The benefits were huge and Michael Heath wanted quick success. Hence he made use of poor-quality materials for the construction.
Midway through the project, the buildings collapsed, injuring numerous workers and tragically causing a few deaths. Upon investigation, Michael Heath revealed that The Luxton Corps. was the driving force behind this project, and that he was merely following orders.”
“That son of a b***h,” William exclaimed, his fury uncontainable.
Just who gave him the guts to throw them under the bus? Didn’t he know what The Luxton Corps was capable of?
William took a sharp, enraged breath before asking. “Where’s Jayden?”
Rick’s gaze shifted to Jayden, who was busy with work at the side, “He’s currently in a videoconference with the higher-ups from our branch in the south.”
William wasted no time and ordered. “Pass him the phone,” and Rick complied, handing the phone to Jayden.
“Father,”
“Handle the matter well. Don’t let that blood-sucking leeches take advantage of the familial ties. If things come at a point, just get rid of all of them.” William said sternly in a voice that was enough to send shivers down one’s spine.
“Got it,” Jayden answered before tossing the phone to the side.
Night descended and the air at the Meadow Residence was hushed with silence. However, tonight was destined to be a sleepless night.
Hurried footsteps rang through the marble-floored hallways. The entrance doors swung open, revealing the figure of none other than Madison who had been missing for a day.
The servants quickly alerted Jayden of her arrival. However, the latter wasn’t in a hurry to see her.
After tucking Nina to sleep, he changed into his loungewear and went down the staircase. Even in his casual clothes, the impeccable charm he radiated was undeniable. His eyes locked onto Madison lazily as he took in her disheveled appearance.
Upon seeing Jayden, Madison felt as though she had found her savior. Overwhelmed by fear, she immediately pounced on him the moment he reached the lower landing.
Unfortunately, before she could get any closer, the servants blocked her path, preventing her from getting any closer to him.
“How dare you!” Madison screamed at the servant who had stopped her. But the latter remained unmoved.
Desperate, Madison turned to Jayden, her eyes filled with a plea. Yet, the response she received was his eyes filled with extreme coldness, devoid of any warmth. He sat on the couch and gestured for the servant to release her.
As soon as they released her, Madison immediately burst into tears. “LJ, do you know I was kidnapped?”
“Oh, what happened?” Jayden asked, his demeanor composed and unreadable.
Madison shivered when she recalled the horrific incident but steeled her heart and began recounting the horrible ordeal.
In the dead of night, she had been forcibly taken from the club she was partying at last night. With a blindfold tightly secured over her eyes, they took her hostage.
Her voice quivered when she recalled the claustrophobic nightmare of being held in a cramped, abandoned warehouse that echoed with eerie silence.
Madison was born with a silver spoon in her mouth and was seldom exposed to hardships. The fear and desperation she experienced during those agonizing hours was palpable.
It was only an hour ago did her captors released her.
Madison did not even once try to figure out what was exactly going on. Somehow, she fled from the warehouse and ran directly towards the Meadow Residence.
As she spoke, Madison had expected Jayden to console her, to seek vengeance on her behalf. Just like he did in the past.
But, to her shock, Jayden sat there unmoved. His indifference was like a sharp knife twisting Madison’s heart.
Unbeknownst to her, the person who caused her to be in the state was Jayden himself, a revelation that would shake Madison’s entire world.
Jayden’s silence left Madison uncomfortable. In her delusional thoughts, she wondered if he was plotting revenge on her behalf.
“LJ, you have to avenge me,” Unwilling to give up, Madison said softly.
Suddenly, footsteps echoed once again inside the mansion.
“Madison!” Mrs. Heath ran inside the living room when her eyes fell on her daughter. She pulled her into her embrace as a wave of relief washed over her.
“Mom,” Madison, still traumatized, hugged her back and wailed non-stop.
In a seemingly nonchalant manner, Jayden sipped on the tea, watching the melodramatic reunion in front of him.
Madison’s shabby appearance tugged at the heartstrings of Mrs. Heath. She began examining her from head to toe for any signs of injury or harm.
After repeatedly making sure that she was fine, Mrs. Heath’s gaze turned venomous as she directed her anger squarely at Jayden. Her eyes bore into him with a fiery intensity, and her voice dripped with accusation. “You did this,” she hissed through gritted teeth and charged at him. “I’m going to kill you!”
Mrs. Heath seemed to have completely lost her mind. She knew that they were no match for Jayden. And perhaps, after this, it was likely that their entire family would be finished. However, she couldn’t just sit still and watch her daughter be bullied.
“Mom!” Madison’s eyes flew wide open in shock at her mother’s sudden outburst.
Before she could reach him, she moved forward and held onto Mrs. Heath tightly, preventing her from approaching Jayden. “What the hell is wrong with you?” she screeched.
Mrs. Heath turned to her daughter in disbelief. “Madison? Do you even know what you’re doing? You have no idea what he’s done.”
“No, Mom. What exactly are you trying to do?” Madison asked and pointed her finger at her nose. “I’m telling you. You can’t just raise your voice at him like that. LJ’s been there for me when you weren’t. So don’t ever talk to him in that tone ever again.” Madison’s protectiveness toward Jayden was evident in her stern rebuke.
Mrs. Heath was about to be angered to death because of her brainless daughter. She was aware of Madison’s fondness towards Jayden. However, she never expected to get rebuked by her daughter when she did not even know what was happening.
She reached out, shaking Madison’s shoulders, hoping to wake her from what she believed to be a delusion. “Silly girl! Do you know that the person you’re protecting is the one who caused you to be in this state?”
“It was Jayden who ordered your kidnapping,” she revealed.
Madison recoiled, her eyes widening in shock and disbelief. “No, Mom, that can’t be true! You must be mistaken. He-he would never do something like that.”
Tears streamed down Mrs. Heath’s face as she nodded solemnly. “I wish it weren’t true, sweetheart, but we have the proof.”
Madison’s world crumbled around her as she tried to come to terms with the shocking revelation. Her gaze shifted back and forth between her mother’s tear-stained face and Jayden’s nonchalant demeanor, desperately hoping for a different answer.
Her mother’s accusations had cut deep, but she couldn’t accept the thought that Jayden would ever hurt her. Her voice quivered as she questioned him.
“LJ, my mom’s lying, right?” Madison implored, her voice trembling with fear and uncertainty. “You didn’t order your men to kidnap me, right?”
However, Jayden’s response hit her like a tornado. His lips curled into a faint, mocking smile, as his eyes held a glint of amusement. “So what if I did?”
Madison staggered back as the world beneath her feet shattered. Her eyes welled up with tears as she tried to process his words. The person she wholeheartedly trusted, the man she loved, had just admitted to being the mastermind behind her demise.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
“No! This can’t be. I don’t believe it,” Madison screeched, flipping the old antic placed at the side. One by one, she hurled everything that came into her sight.
Suddenly, her outburst took an eerie halt.
With a twisted grin plastered on her face, she turned toward Jayden and forced a hideous smile. “You did this to protect me, right?” Her words carried a tone of forced understanding, as she was brainwashing herself. “That must be it! I know you must have had your reasons. It’s fine. I don’t blame you.”
Mrs. Heath couldn’t believe what she was seeing and hearing. Madison’s sudden shift in attitude left her horrified. With a resounding sound, a sharp slap landed across Madison’s face.
Shocked and dizzy, Madison stood rooted in disbelief, her hand instinctively reaching up to touch her stinging cheek.
“Wake up, Madison!” Mrs. Heath admonished sternly, her eyes filled with anger. “The truth is in front of you. Why can’t you understand?”
It was sickening to watch her daughter whom she had painstakingly and carefully taken care of stoop so low.
The sharp sting brought Madison back to reality. Seeing her dazed expression, Mrs. Heath pulled her into her embrace and cried. “I’m so sorry, sweetheart. I didn’t want to hit you, but I also can’t bear to see you lose your mind.”
But, it was unknown if Madison was listening to her mother’s words. Pulling out of her mother’s embrace, she suddenly asked.
“It’s because of Nina, isn’t it?” Madison pressed, “That bitch asked you to avenge what happened yesterday, right?”
Nina’s name caused a sudden shift in the atmosphere. The air around Jayden turned chilly as he looked at Madison coldly.
Madison’s eyes flared with a sudden realization. “I knew it! That bitch can’t stand me doing better. She’s jealous of me. She loathes the fact that I have a better background than her. That LJ dotes on me more.” Madison’s voice grew more animated as she connected the dots. “After LJ took my side, she must have been furious, and hence pillow-talked LJ to avenge her.”
