17:
“SAMPAGUITA!” Euna’s offer the flower to those who go to church that Sunday.
She needed to run out of goods because she was intrimited and she got involved with those who sold them. If she can’t finish, her mother will pinch her because she didn’t like that she was selling something like the kids her age in their area.
“Euna, let’s go! The sky is dark, it might rain!” Reyna called her attention.
Her eyes widened in shock when she saw nothing on Reyna’s hand. Her Sampaguita has already been sold out!
“What the hell, where’s your flowers?”
Reyna giggled. “I offered it to the rich. Those who have cars. Well, it’s you, you don’t want to offer it to them!”
“I don’t want to! Maybe later one of them will be my father!” Because her mother said that her father is rich.
“Oh, it’s impossible and this is not just the only church here. By the way, If he was here, he would have taken your mother. It’s near the railroad.”
When it started to rain, they ran quickly together.
“It’s a shame, I have three more.”
“Just put it on your altar. Oh, I wish you’d offered it to Ford!”
Euna’s eyes widened. “Is he there?”
Ford is one of the rich people who regularly go to that church every Sunday. He became one of their playmates because he is always running away from his parents as if his father notices it.
Yes, Ford is an attention grabber who is hard to ignore and cute. She has a crush on him.
He’s so cute with his nose…
“Oh, you really have a crush on Ford!” Reyna teased her.
“Hey, no!”
“Ena, don’t me!! I knew you very well!” Reyna even said, calling her to her pet name.
“Wait, hey, that’s Ford!” What they were talking about suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
“Hey, Ford, hi!” Euna greeted him when he approached them.
“Ford didn’t answer. He just reached for something in a paper bag.
“What is it? Food?” Euna looked excited.
“Just open it.”
Umbrella! What a beautiful umbrella!
“Wow! It’s beautiful! I heard it will be popular in the market because it’s trendy,” Reyna teased her again when Ford said goodbye to them.
6 to 7 PM mass is the time Ford’s family always goes to that church. He told her that sometimes he goes to church really early because his grandfather and not his parents are with him.
That’s how Ford is, whenever he’s with her, they’re talking about his family. She just listens and diverts the conversation. He told her that she was the only one who could do that to him, to be able to make him forget the burden that he brings to his family…
SHE could not let go of Ford’s gift to her. Her heart was so happy that she didn’t know why she felt that way. Though, it wasn’t the first time she received a gift. But she was sure, this was the first time she was so happy because after all it wasn’t just a simple gift. It just came from someone who she couldn’t put in the simple category because she was sure that Ford was very close to her heart. Ford is one of her friends that she loves to see and be with. Always.
“Ena, go to sleep,” her mother said when she noticed that she probably hadn’t slept yet.
They lay next to each other and crowded together on the pallet so it was impossible for her mother not to see her awake.
“Yes, ‘Ma, I will do,” she simply replied.
No matter what she does, she can’t sleep because of the excitement she still feels.
Until she heard someone whistling outside their house. Oh, that’s maybe her friend Reyna!Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Slowly, she got up and walked to their door…
“Why? It’s getting late,” she said to Reyna immediately.
“It’s late but you’re still awake,” Reyna responded with a snort. “I went to see you, you’re probably still awake because I’m sure you’re still excited.”
What?
She just rolled his eyes at his friend. “Well, why?”
“Come on, let’s go to the Circus! I really want the orange jug, maybe I can get it now!”
Sighing, she nodded to her friend. “Okay, okay, wait. I’m just going to hide something for a while.”
Of course, she will first keep the gift that Ford gave to her in a place that she knows no one can touch it. Yes, even at night sometimes because her nephew and niece wakes up so she can’t just leave it on the pallet.
“Oh, it’s still hidden in the tree!” Reyna exclaimed in disbelief when she saw that she hid the umbrella in one of the trees on the side of their house.
“Yes, maybe my nephew and niece will wake up and play it.” As for the trees that were there, they made a door out of the holes in the roots, that’s where they hide their chalk whenever they play pickaxe.
THE feeling of winning at the circus is so much fun-especially if you won without spending anything! Euna giggled and exclaimed in her mind as she and Reyna made their way home.
“Did I say I’ll get the jug now!”
“By the way, thanks to this, we have a new mosquito net and blanket.” Those are the ones she had won.
“Oh, that’s because of you, we won.”
“Huh?”
“I invited you because I know you are happy now because of Ford’s gift. Do you know what they say, ‘when a person is happy, her mindset is only positive. So there, it’s all because of you.'”
They giggled. Reyna often reads something so that’s what she says.
But their giggles stopped as soon as they were far from the railway, they heard the commotion of the people.
They first stared at each other, before they ran together towards the railroad!
IT’S depressing…
When they came to the railroad that night, it was no longer a normal railroad that even though they knew the people living there were poor, the people were happy.
It’s a big smoke now that seems to say that the railway is gone. The railroad houses must disappear. Even those houses must disappear and in order for that to happen permanently, that’s it, it’s burning now.
A big fire is engulfing all the houses on the railway- they are sure, even the people living there were not spared by that big fire!
“UNGH…” Euna’s arms stretched out from where she was curled up when she woke up.
She looked at Reyna who was still gaping on the sofa. They fell asleep there from drinking last night.
“Reyna… wake up, hey, it’s already five o’clock…”
They need to wake up and move now. Because they will open their shop in Dangwa at seven o’clock.
“Reyna..” She tapped her friend’s cheek and arm to wake her up.
Reyna growled. A sign that she woke up. Well, she’s really mischievous, so when she stretched, she hit the things on the table in the middle. It made a noise when it fell so Reyna opened her eyes completely and got up.
“Oh, sorry! What time is it?” Reyna scoffed.
Euna just shook her head and picked up the ones that fell. “It’s five o’clock. We fell asleep here.”
“Yes.” Reyna said, yawning, she also bent over to pick up the items that had fallen. “Here, that umbrella, oh, Ena.”
Euna was stunned. That pet name of hers has not been heard for a long time because when she came to her senses, she forbade the people around her to call her that and it was the name of Japayuki who was also from the railway.
“Hey, you look odd. Wait and I’ll make you some coffee.” Euna pulled Reyna’s leg so she couldn’t go away.
“Reyna…”
“Why?”
“It’s Red…”
“Oh dear. Yes, I know that. Red is on your mind.”
“No! I mean, this umbrella is from Red. He is Ford!”
SURELY Euna needs space so Red let her for a while Lately, he will admit that he has a hard time teasing Euna and wooing her. He really hates the Hensons. That if he puts himself in it, even he will be the same.
Red just let her go for a while while he works out a way to solve his problem with the Hensons. As he roasts Don Vladimir Henson with his antics.
Haist, if only that old man wasn’t really his grandfather, he would have challenged him to a fight because he really was annoyed with him.
“How are you, Red?” His cousin Haya was the one Red looked at when he looked up.
“Hey, what brought you here?” He also congratulated her.
“It’s so close to where your girlfriend moved, it’s terrible! It’s just walking distance,” said Grey. He then noisily dropped a folder on his desk that read: Euna Del Fierro.
Ah, yes, he didn’t stop investigating Euna. He wants to make sure that she’s okay until now. He didn’t feel any anger in his chest at the knowledge that she accepted the money from his grandfather. He really hopes that one day, Euna will be the same to him again because there is nothing they can do about what happened in the past.
That’s over. The only thing he can do now as the CCEO of a big company is to apologize to his family on his behalf and fix the mess made by those who will go through the law.
He knew Euna had a point, that the rich were favored by the law. That’s why until now his Uncle Vincent who set the railroad on fire is still here- Yes, he found out that it was he who ordered it and not his grandfather. That’s why he wants to talk to Euna and explain to her the truth about it.
If only Euna knew that her Uncle Vincent has changed a lot since then.
“I’ve accompanied Grey to you so I can help you.”
Red raised an eyebrow at his brat cousin. If Haya’s plan is to play again, well, she’ll just let her know right now that he has no intention of tolerating her game.
“Don’t look at me like that!” Haya immediately wrinkled her nose and complained to Red.
Grey laughed. “Listen first. I brought Haya with me because she has a point.”
Red sat straight in his swivel chair. He clenched his fists and put them to his lips as he shifted his gaze to his cousins. That way he can convey to them that he is not in a condition to joke.
“What is it?”
“I’m also a woman, Red. I know how to deal with Euna more than you knew.”
“Ah, really?” Red’s lips also sounded sarcastic without meaning to. Maybe he’s so hot-headed that’s why he’s like that now.
“Red, of course, Haya knew how to handle the feelings of Euna more, because she is also a woman,” Grey defended Haya.
Red shifted his gaze to his cousins. “Yes, you are also a woman. But are you aware that Euna is a different kind of woman, Haya… she is different from others. She’s unique…”
Ah, he didn’t want to cry but he couldn’t help it either. Red then stood up from his seat and faced the glass window of the Hensons’ building overlooking the towering buildings that were still lower than where he was. He was surprised that he didn’t seem to have anyone in his office room.
“Red, we’ll leave you alone so you can read more,” Grey said, slamming the folder he was carrying on the table again.
Red was forced to look at his cousins again. “Sure. Thanks.”
“You’re too formal, Red! Ew!” Haya reacted immediately.
Grey just laughed. “Red Henson, prepare your pocket for what I will ask in return when I help you with your problem with Euna.” Haya gestured her palm to Red.
Red let out a breath. Then he was forced to accept Haya’s palm.
Shake hands then double fist bump, that’s how they close talks, deals, bets and all…
