MISTAKE 193
Chapter 193: James‘ Anger
“Get her out of here!” he barked, and his men quickly but gently lifted Stella’s limp form and carried her to James‘ waiting car.
As they sped away from the scene, James cast a worried glance at Stella’s pale face. “Hold on, my love,” he murmured. “I’m taking you home.
The ornate wooden doors of the mansion’s study swung open, and Stella found herself ushered into the lavish room, her heart pounding. James stood there, his expression a mix of relief and apprehension.
“Stella…” he breathed, taking a step towards her
But Stella held up a hand, her eyes narrowing. “Was it your mother?” she asked, her voice cold and unwavering.
gaze downcast.
James hesitated for a moment, then nodded slowly. “Yes,” he admitted, his gaze She… she’s the one who orchestrated the whole thing.
Stella’s jaw tightened, her suspicions confirmed. “I should have known,” she said, her voice. laced with bitter disappointment. “After all these years, she’s still trying to hurt us.
James took another step forward, his hand reaching out towards her. “Stella, I… I’m so sorry, he said, his voice thick with emotion. “I never meant for any of this to happen.”
Stella eyed him warily, taking a step back. “Where have you been, James?” she asked, her tone guarded. “You disappeared all those years ago, leaving us to fend for ourselves. And now, your own
mother has tried to take me from my family.”
James flinched at the accusation, his expression pained. “I… I was in a coma,” he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. “Your mother–in–law, she… she trapped me, erased my memories. I only just woke up a few days ago.”
Stella stared at him, her mind racing. She had spent years believing he was dead, and now he was standing before her, alive and seemingly well. It was almost too much to process.
“A coma?” she repeated, her voice tinged with disbelief. “All this time, you were alive, and we
had no idea?”
James nodded, his eyes pleading. “I’m so sorry, Stella. I tried to find you, to find Emma, but… your mother–in–law, she was relentless. I barely escaped with my life.”
Stella hesitated, her gaze searching his face. She could see the sincerity in his eyes, the pain and regret etched in his features. But after all they had been through, all the loss and heartbreak, a part of her couldn’t bring herself to trust him, to believe his story.
“James,” she said quietly, “it’s been over a decade. I’m a different person now. A lot has happened in your absence.“.
He nodded, his shoulders slumping “I know,” he said, his voice tinged with sadness. “And I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you and the girls. I never meant to abandon you.”
Stella sighed, her resolve wavering. “I… I’m just glad you’re alive,” she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. “But I need time. I can’t just pick up where we left off, not after everything that’s happened.”
James nodded, understanding in his eyes. “I… I know,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “But I’m here, Stella. Whenever you’re ready, I’ll be waiting.”
Stella nodded, her gaze drifting towards the door. “I should go,” she said, her voice quiet. The girls are waiting for me.”
James could not let her leave. “Don’t you want to know who harmed out girls?” He asked and she paused to look back at him.
At the moment, Janet received updates that the abduction had failed. When she heard this, she cursed out loud and slapped he leather seat of her car.
She was sure her son had done something. She had already prepared for him to remarry and get rid of Stella but he is still stuck on her. How can a man his age still be stuck on love?
“To the mansion,” she ordered her driver.
The next second, a sleek black SUV slammed up behind them with alarming speed, hitting their car bumper with severe force.
No matter how much he tried, Janet’s driver couldn’t manage to shake them or pull away. The car stayed glued to their tail like a vengeful ghost.
Then, in one swift motion, the SUV rammed them head–on again, clipping the front fender.
Janet’s car lost its grip on the road, as they spun wildly, sliding across the concrete before slamming into a highway barrier with great force.
Shards of shattered glass exploded inward as the vehicle rolled, the reinforced frame crushing in horrifically around them.
Janet felt deep agony tear through her body, but she was unable to stifle a scream as everything hurt when her organs felt the force of the Impact.
When they finally came to a halt, Janet was barely clinging to consciousness. She could barely register the destruction as everything hurt. Every shallow breath sent fresh bolts of painful torment through her battered body. Opening her eyes was too difficult to even attempt.
Heavy footsteps crunched over the nearby gravel as several shadowy figured approached the wreckage.
At the sound of their low, rumbling voices penetrating the ringing in her ears, an icy chill washed over Janet.
“Well, about handles it” a cold voice said, “Call in, boys. Tell the boss we got her done here.”
We are
Terror gripped Janet’s body. Unable to move or pealt, she could only listen helplessly as one of the men raised a phone to his ear.
“We have her, Mr. Grey,” he stated flatly. “Alive a requested…yes, sir. Right away.”
At this words, her mind raced. Did James find out what she had done?
As iron fingers of fear closed around her, Janet prayed James did not find out or else she was
dead for sure.
Back in the study, Stella turned to stare at James.
“You know who they are?” she asked.
“Of course. I have enemies everywhere, but they all have their little preferences,” James answered.
“What do you need me to do?” Stella asked. Her children were safe now, but she still felt anger at the person who separated their family.
“I just have an event to attend. You just need to join me,” he said and she nodded and turned
away.
“It’s tonight. You can change upstairs,” he said and she paused, threw him a suspicious look and walked away.
When James saw this, he chuckled. His phone rang the next moment and he put it to his ear.
“We have her Mr Grey,” the person said.
“Good. Return her the family home. Return her slowly. I want them to tremble a bit,” he said.
and ended the call.
He continued to work through out the day. He was actually quite restless. Stella was upstairs and he wanted to spend time with her. But he knew if he rushed it, she would run. She had been used to living alone all these years. He knew it would take time for her to accept him back.
After a while of work, his phone rang again. He took one look at the string of numbers and knew who it was. He picked it up and placed on his ear.
“What?” he asked.
A solemn voice came from the other end.
“Did you take your mother?” the person asked. It was his father. Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
“Yes,” James answered.
“Send her back. This is the last time she will have authority in the family. I will make sure of

it,” his father said.
“Do you think that is enough for me to release someone who harmed my wife?” James asked.
“She is your mother, your family” Old Master Grey said.
“Family?” James scoffed, “You don’t even care fro the granddaughters you had played with when they were children, but you speak about family?” I am a grand father myself. I wonder how you could sit there and let them suffer,” Janes asked. Her could tell his words hit hard. His father placed great importance on his grandchildren. Hearing that James has become a grandfather is like a blow to his heart.
