Chapter 323
Olivia looked at Darren, who seemed tired as she lay in bed.
With a weak voice, she reassured him, “Don’t worry, Dad. Naomi is a lucky girl. She’ll be fine.”
Darren, his eyes filled with tears, replied, “I think so too. We’ll only relax when she’s completely okay. Hillary was so devastated when she heard about Naomi’s condition, She wanted to die with her. It’s good that Naomi’s doing better now, otherwise, I can’t imagine what would have happened.”
“Make sure Aunt Hillary knows Naomi is better now and will stay that way,” Olivia suggested.
“I hope so,” Darren responded, wiping his tears. He then asked, “I heard Naomi fainted outside your room. What happened?”
Olivia avoided his gaze, her lips trembling. “Naomi…” She paused, unsure of what to say, then added quietly, “I don’t know.”
She quickly looked down, fidgeting with the blanket.
Darren observed her for a moment then decided not to press further. “It’s not important now. The main thing is Naomi is okay.”
“Mm–hmm, exactly,” Olivia agreed.
Darren, trying to change the subject, smiled awkwardly and said, “Olivia.”
She looked up, puzzled. “Yes, Dad?”
With a loving expression, Darren shared his thoughts. “After you have the baby, come live with us. You can do anything you want. If you want to study abroad, we’ll support that too.”
Olivia was surprised by his offer. It sounded straightforward, but she sensed the underlying message.
Both of them knew what he was implying. She stopped fidgeting with the blanket and held it tightly.
Darren continued, seeing her reaction, “You’ve been amazing, Olivia. Thanks for everything you’ve done for Naomi. She and Tyler will be grateful.”
Olivia understood his concern. He wanted to make sure she would give up being Mrs. Harris after giving birth to the baby.
Indeed, a parent’s love was deep, but unfortunately, he wasn’t doing that for her.
She forced a smile.
Darren, worried that his intention was too obvious, held her hands. “I mean it, it’s for your best. Studying abroad might be good. Hillary and I will take care of the baby. If you can’t let go of the baby, we’ll hire someone to take care of it with you abroad. Don’t worry about the money. Just focus on what make you happy after the baby arrives.” NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
Olivia pulled her hands away gen and reassured him, “I know, Dad. Don’t worry, I have a plan and won’t be a burden. I don’t want much.”
