Someone’s?

Amanda’s head was a mess throughout her drive back home. She somehow managed to make the 30- minute drive into an hour today.

After she parked her car in the garage, she dragged her exhausted body into the villa.

She was trudging past the living room when she saw a scene that made her stop in her tracks.

Simon and a woman were sitting on the couch in the living room, whereas Aiden was playing with puzzles beside them.

What is going on? Simon rented this place to me, didn’t he? Why would he bring a woman back here?

When she was quietly wondering what was happening, Aiden immediately caught sight of her. and he shouted excitedly. “Mommy! You’re home!”

He then dashed over and lunged at her.

Amanda was immediately brought back to her senses by the child’s voice. Instinctively, she opened her arms to her baby who smelled like sweet milk.

Simon and the woman on the couch turned their heads to look at the mother-son duo at the same time upon hearing that.

Simon got up slowly and walked toward her. “Why are you back so late, Amanda? I was just about to go and pick you up. Aiden insisted that he will only go to bed after you tell him a bedtime

story.”

“Uh… I… ah… was in a jam.”

The atmosphere in the living room felt strange for some reason she couldn’t pinpoint.

And as Amanda spoke, she finally took a good look at the woman on the couch. The latter had a cold demeanor, exquisite facial features, and black, long hair so straight she looked like art itself.

Like a flower that grew on a high mountain, she wasn’t someone ordinary men could get their

hands on.

“Your hair is a mess! Was it windy?” Simon smiled and smoothly tugged a lock of Amanda’s hair behind her car.

Amanda, who had no idea what was going on, only wore a stupefied expression.

Seeing this, the man lowered his head and whispered in her car, “Help me out a bit. She is my ex.”

Oho! Realization suddenly dawned on Amanda. So, this goddess-like woman is Simon’s er? Elias said that Simon and this ex of his were in a relationship for many years, but she ended up suddenly getting married to someone else. It seems that Simon was the one who took the brunt of the breakup. Is he trying to show her that he is living a good life?

Regardless of the circumstances, Simon did help her lie to Howard. She knew she had to help

him in return.

“It was alright. I see you have a guest…” Amanda pretended to not know who the woman was.

Before Simon said anything, the woman stood up and walked over with a smile. She had a black spaghetti-strap dress on. “Hello, Mrs. Nicholson. I am Lunabelle Gowen, a friend of Simon’s.

She then extended her hand for a polite handshake, but her eyes held a glint like she was peering at her rival in love.

Amanda also reached out and lightly shook her hand. “Hello. I’m Amanda Bailey

“You look happy, Mrs. Nicholson. Simon takes good care of you and the child.” Lunabelle had been sizing up Amanda from the moment the latter had walked in. She wanted to see what kind of woman Simon had chosen to marry and have a child with.

Those are words a b*tch with an angel’s face would say. Why would she come to Simon’s house if she is his ex- girlfriend? And what is the point of sounding so jealous? Amanda thought.

She couldn’t help but remember herself from four years ago. She detested men who secretly had someone elusive in their hearts. It didn’t make sense to her why they would get involved with anyone else if they were in love with someone else.

“That goes without saying. Why would anyone get married if they’re not happy?” Amanda replied. with a smile.

Those words seemed to prick Lunabelle right in the heart, and her expression changed subtly.

Amanda quickly noticed her reaction. It seems like she doesn’t have a happy marriage. I hope she isn’t trying to get back with Simon because something happened to her marriage.

She soon picked up Aiden and looked at Simon. I’m going to put the baby to sleep. You should have a chat with Miss Gowen. Let me know if you need me.”

“Alright.”

And so, Amanda went upstairs with the child in her arms while the boy kept glaring at Lunabelle with a look of disdain.

To him, any woman who wanted to take Simon away from them was an evil person.

When Amanda returned to the room with Aiden, the boy immediately urged, “Mommy, I can sleep by myself. You have to go downstairs and watch over Mr. Simon!”

“Why should I do that? He is having a conversation with that pretty lady. I’ll tell you a story

instead.”

Aiden grumpily complained. “She’s not pretty at all. She’s not as pretty as you are, Mommy! You have to keep your eyes on Mr. Simon, or that evil lady will take him away from us!”

Why is this little brat always trying to match Simon and me up? Amanda wondered, amused as she lightly reprimanded the boy, “Aiden Bailey, I’m telling you right now that Mr. Simon will not be your father, so we don’t have to worry about which lady he talks to. Also, you can’t just call the lady evil. It’s rude.”

Besides, Simon and Lunabelle obviously had feelings for each other. Amanda wouldn’t want to squeeze herself between the two.

Aiden was so infuriated he started bawling. As he grabbed his mother’s hand and swung it around. he cried, “Mommy, can you please have better taste in men?! Why don’t you want a man as wonderful as Mr. Simon? Some other woman will take him away if you don’t want him!”

“Okay, okay. How about you go to sleep, hmm? Aren’t you sleepy? Let’s talk when you wake up.”

Amanda didn’t know how she could explain to a three-year-old that feelings couldn’t be forced. The brat was too stubborn in wanting Simon as his father.

“I’m angry! Hmph! I can go to sleep by myself. Mommy, go downstairs and watch Mr. Simon, or I won’t talk to you ever again!”

Aiden huffed and puffed and turned his back toward her, his lips forming a small pout.

A speechless Amanda was baffled by how his temper was exactly the same as a certain someone’s.

As expected of Elias’ son, Aiden was domineering and needed to make what he wanted into reality.

She felt her anger boil when she recalled the incident at the pool party tonight. And now, her child was bullying her! Am I a pushover?

Furthermore, the more she looked at Aiden getting mad, the more she thought he looked like Elias.

In the end, she could only compromise as she patted her son’s small head. “Fine, I’ll go down and watch Simon. You be good. Now sleep.”

Aiden’s eyes instantly lit up. He turned to her with a happy face and cheered, “Yay! I’ll sleep now.”

After he said that, he struggled to climb into the big bed with his short legs and got under the covers. He then closed his eyes tightly and chirped, Tm asleep, Mommy! Go downstairs quickly! Go, go!”

Little brat… She helplessly shook her head and left the room wordlessly. After heading to the railing on the second floor, she looked down at the handsome man and beautiful woman in the

living room.

Amanda had no intention of going down and being their third wheel. Instead of heading downstairs, she turned to the balcony and went there for fresh air.

Standing on the terrace, she looked up at the night sky as she involuntarily thought of what happened in the past few hours.

She could feel her cheeks warming up as they turned pink.

I was pretty into it…

She quickly shook her head. What am I thinking? Elias and I won’t work out. I’m sure of it!

She wouldn’t go down that road again after she was hurt so badly by that sc mbag four years ago.
