Chapter 1131
Josie moved closer to Morgan. “Listen carefully, I’m saying this to you, not Ryan. If he dares to treat Angel poorly, I’ll be coming after you first.”
After hearing her warning, Morgan felt nonplussed. However, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Dexter’s figure. Suddenly, he reached out, pulling Josie closer to himself by her head. His breath fanned across her face, carrying with it a certain sense of intimidation.
Josie furrowed her brows, wanting to break free, but Morgan wouldn’t allow it.
“Well, I’m actually looking forward to it.”
When the scene unfolded before Dexter, his lips pressed tightly together.
Morgan released Josie subsequently, throwing a provocative glance in Dexter’s direction before cheerfully heading to where Ryan was.
Josie didn’t take it to heart. However, the scent that Morgan emitted when he passed by her left her stunned, one that she was vaguely familiar with.
Where have I smelled it before?
After Laura and the others had left, Josie had no choice but to take a taxi home. Even as she walked onto the street, she was still wondering where she had smelled that scent before.
I remember now!
She squinted her eyes. Laura.
After Josie spent the evening with Laura, the latter’s distinctive perfume had rubbed off on her. Josie lifted her hand to sniff, and sure enough, it was there. However, the scent she had just smelled was unmistakably from Morgan.
Is it him? Josie’s face darkened, a sense of foreboding washing over her.
She didn’t notice when a car pulled up in front of her. The window rolled down and from it came Moses’ teasing words. “Miss, need a ride?”
Regaining her senses, Josie was startled to see Grape’s chubby face pressed against the rear car window, her eyes filled with longing. “Mommy, let’s go home,” she said.
Dexter was surprisingly by the side.
Subconsciously, Josie glanced down. The ride- hailing app indicated that there were still fifty- five people ahead of her.
Fine, I’m not going to argue with Dexter over this.
However, once she got in the car, the atmosphere grew strange. Dexter shot her a glance. “So you dumped the kid on me just to meet your ex-boyfriend.”
Josie raised an eyebrow. How did he know? “You must have seen me.”
She was quite confident about it. Unable to vent the frustration within him, Dexter rolled down the car window, letting the cold breeze in.
Josie didn’t say much more. Instead, she carried Grape to play with her. However, the latter was observant, whispering, “Daddy is upset.”
As if she didn’t hear it, Josie playfully squeezed Grape’s chubby hand.
“Josie.” Dexter finally couldn’t contain himself.
“What is it?”
Dexter found himself unable to voice his thoughts, as the two of them were currently not in an official relationship.
However, it wasn’t until they returned to their residence that they found Morgan’s car conveniently parked at the entrance. Dexter was the first to get out of the car and headed straight to the study.
Justin was just munching on a cucumber when he came out and saw Dexter’s retreating figure.
“Oh, what happened?”
Josie ignored him as usual. With the help of the servants, she bathed Grape and coaxed the latter to sleep before leisurely returning to her room. However, just as she reached a corner, a large hand pulled her into it. A sharp pain shot up Josie’s spine, and when she looked up, she saw Dexter, barely concealing his anger.
She remained calm. “What are you doing?”
Dexter stared at her rosy lips. “The hundred-day contract isn’t over yet. Meeting your ex- boyfriend in front of me isn’t quite appropriate, Ms. Warren.”
It must be because of what happened earlier.
Josie struggled to break free. “Don’t push your luck. We only have a contract. I didn’t sell myself to you. Do I need to report to you about who I socialize with?”
She raised an eyebrow, emphasizing, “Ex- husband.”
Rendered speechless, Dexter placed his finger on her lips, gently caressing them. “How feisty.”
“The bidding had ended, and the project is about to commence. What do you have to show in your report to Arnold?”Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
