Chapter 1115
Josie had no issues with the latter half of the sentence, but she took issue with the meaning of the former half.
Josie glanced sideways, raising an eyebrow, while Dexter remained completely composed.
As several people exchanged glances in front of her, Josie smiled. “Mr. Ziegler, I must seek justice for my father’s incident. Please give me a chance, even if it’s just to personally apprehend them.”
Kevin replied, “The main problem is that the evil forces have been deeply rooted in Rivodia for many years. For you to venture in alone, it’s simply too dangerous.”
“She won’t be alone, I am by her side.” Dexter raised his hand, placing it on her shoulder, seemingly protective.
Both of them had a determined look in their eyes. In the end, Kevin nodded, “As always, I will prioritize your cases in Rivodia. You can take control of the situation and arrange for Scott and the others as you see fit. However, there is one thing I insist on. When it comes to major decisions, don’t exceed your authority. Report first.”
Upon hearing those words, Josie looked at Dexter in surprise. It seemed like this wasn’t the first time he had been trusted so implicitly by those above him.
That shouldn’t have happened to a businessman.
Upon hearing that, she merely chuckled lazily, “Such a significant matter. It’s difficult for me to handle if you don’t let me cross the line.”
Kevin scoffed, gesturing in the air with his finger. “You know, sometimes you’re too impulsive.”
“What qualifies as a major decision?” Josie interjected, “What if it involves harming Arnold?”
“He is an important person, so naturally, you must report your decision on what to do with him.” When Josie heard that, her gaze subtly deepened, a slight reaction that Dexter noticed completely.
The conversation ended, and after seeing off the guests, Josie immediately shook off Dexter’s hand. “Who said I’ve put the past with you aside?”
He stood under the sunlight. “What, can’t I say it in advance?”
What kind of statement is that? Josie turned her head, just in time to see a moving company’s truck driving past the villa and stopping directly across the street.
It seemed that the villa had long been uninhabited, never having seen a soul. Was someone about to arrive?
Dexter narrowed his eyes as well but retorted, “Isn’t the sun too bright?”
Josie walked back.
As she walked, she spoke. “I can act as a spy, but I have one condition: Arnold cannot die.”
As soon as she spoke, Dexter gripped her wrist, forcing her to look at him. “What do you mean?”
Josie didn’t know how to explain it to him. “There were too many people around earlier, and there were things I couldn’t say. Either way, he cannot die.”
Dexter smiled helplessly. “After two years, you still have a soft spot for him.”
“What are you talking about? I am not-”
Just then, a cry of alarm came from inside. “My God! Someone come quickly!”
The sound had come from Paul’s room. Josie’s face immediately changed. She shook off Dexter and hurriedly ran over.
Dexter also furrowed his brow, quickly catching up.Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Josie burst into the room, only to be met with the shocking sight of Paul convulsing on the floor. Foam was frothing at the corners of his mouth as he screamed in agony. His aging body was continuously throwing itself against the wall. “Drug… Drug…
The housekeeper was terrified, pulling Paul aside while explaining to Josie, “He was just fine a moment ago, then suddenly he became like this.”
Dexter furrowed his brow as he observed the unfolding scene, quickly comprehending the situation. He crouched down to assist Paul, urging him, “Come back to your senses!”
However, Paul continued to be unable to control his convulsions. Josie’s face grew pale. What Arnold said was correct. Paul had indeed developed a drug addiction, but he’s already old!
Dexter gently pinched Paul’s sunken cheeks, but he continued to resist. He then extended his hand, placing it in Paul’s mouth to prevent him from biting his tongue.
