Chapter 1055 Schemes And Counter Schemes

Guzzling straight from the bottle, both of them were drinking fiercely. The ground was littered with

bottles in every direction.

“I used to think Micah was such a fool, torturing himself into a complete idiot over a woman. Looking

back now, I realize I was the fool; I've been guarding something in my arms for so many years without

touching it. In the end, I've only made life easier for a dog and ended up with a whole lot of trouble.

Women! They're all the same.”

Sylvester was a bit of a wild one. He would turn the whole private room into a mess when he got drunk,

filling it with smashed glass bottles.

Justin was more composed and reserved. Perhaps because he knew he had a future with Veronique,

he did not lose control like Sylvester did. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

Instead, he sat quietly on the couch, continuously drinking.

“Keep going. Come on, drink, drink, drink.”

Clutching a bottle of liquor, Sylvester clashed it fiercely against Justin's before tilting his head back and

emptying half the bottle in one go.

“Comfortable—this is how life should be. Women, wives, to hell with them all. Come on, bring the

wine.”

Upon hearing this, the waiter outside immediately dashed toward the cellar.

These two gentlemen inside are the owners of the nightclub. I'd better pick up the pace!

A slender figure emerged from the shadows around the bend, coolly watching the retreating back of the

hurriedly departing waiter.

“Is everything in place?”

The bodyguard behind her nodded. “Rest assured, Ms. Smith. Everything is in place. To avoid Mr.

Hollett's detection, the drug I administered was very discreet. No trace would be left in twelve hours.

During this time, those who were drugged would find it hard to control themselves and act purely on

instinct. I've checked. Every time Mr. Hollett gets drunk, the nightclub manager always escorts him to

his exclusive room upstairs. I don't think anybody will stop you when you show up. Once you bring Mr.

Hollett to the room, success is assured.”

Karina's lips curled into a smile. “Excellent. I hear that several companies under Mason's management

ran into some problems, forcing him to remain in Hallsbay. At this critical moment, he will undoubtedly

find a way to meet Sylvester. You mentioned he will bring Rainie to the night show tomorrow to see

Sylvester. So what if Rainie sees me with Sylvester? Knowing how stubborn she was, do you think

there's still anything between them?”

“Their relationship seems to be on the verge of collapse,” the bodyguard said cautiously. “I'll make the

arrangements right away. Tomorrow, Mason will bring Rainie to the nightclub on time.”

“All right. Go ahead.”

Ten minutes later, the two men had almost finished the wine brought by the waiter.

Staggering to his feet, Justin said in a low, hoarse voice, “I'm going to the restroom. If you can't take it,

have someone take you to your private room.”

Sylvesters waved his hand nonchalantly. “I'm not done drinking yet. Let's keep going.”

Then, he tilted his head back and started chugging again.

Justin could not be bothered with him. He stumbled outside.

Almost at the instant that Justin left, Sylvesters's legs gave way, and he collapsed onto the couch.

“D*mn you, Rainie!” he spat venomously as he swung his fists.

D*mn that woman! I am the dignified heir of the Hollett family, the future head of the household. Isn't

that enough for her? Yet she degrades herself to seduce my best friend. Despicable!

His vision swam, and he faintly saw a slender figure, whose face haunted his dreams.

“Don't go, Rainie. Please don't go.”

Karina walked over. She was delighted to see Sylvester waving at her.

Hearing his constant murmuring of her name, her heart instantly felt as if it had plunged into a freezer.

That woman again.

Even when he was clearly drunk and completely out of it, the one he kept obsessing over remained

that despicable woman.

Initially hesitant, Karina felt her heart gradually hardening.

In this world, you can't rely on anybody but yourself. It will be very difficult for her to find such an

opportunity again if I fail today.

Just as she passed the couch, the man lying on it, Sylvester, suddenly reached out, grabbed her arm,

and pulled her into his embrace.

“Please don't leave me, Rainie. Don't go.”

Karina took a couple of deep breaths, barely managing to suppress the rage boiling within her.

“I'm not leaving, Sylvester. You're drunk. How about we go upstairs for some rest?”

Holding her tightly, Sylvester continued to murmur.

Karina was not going to waste her time there. After mustering all her strength to break free from him,

she ordered a waiter behind her to hold him up.

“Escort Mr. Hollett to his private room.”

The waiter, having received a substantial sum, did as instructed.

However, he was also cautious. After escorting Sylvester back to his room, he placed a recorder under

the bed discreetly.

Taking somebody's money to eliminate their troubles could likely end with them silencing me

permanently. Having seen plenty of this sort of thing in the nightlife industry, it never hurts to be

cautious.

If he managed to record something of value, it could not only be used to save his life but also as

blackmail.

“All right, you may leave now. When Mr. Hollett wakes up tomorrow, you know what to say, don't you?”

Karina's voice sounded behind him.

The waiter quickly straightened up and turned around to face her. A dense layer of cold sweat broke

out over his forehead.

“I-I do. I'm to say that you came looking for him, but he ended up carrying you back to the room. I don't

know what happened after that.”

Karina's lips curled into a smile. “Very good. You're clever. Once the job is done, I'll give you the rest.

You'll leave Hallsbay and lay low somewhere else for a while. Remember, not a single word about what

happened tonight to anyone. I'll take your life if you do. Do you understand?”

“Yes, yes. Rest assured, I will do as you've instructed.”

“You may go.”

The waiter slunk away, leaving only Sylvester and Karina in the room.

Karina looked at Sylvester's unconscious figure, steeled her heart, and took a step forward to get to

work.

When a man is drunk as a skunk, he's no different from a corpse. She could not do as she wanted.

“Damn it,” she muttered to herself. “She said the drug wouldn't affect his performance. Now that he's

this intoxicated, how is he supposed to...”

“Wake up, Sylvester. It's me, Rainie. Your Rainie. I'm back by your side. Love me deeply, please. Oh,

Sylvester. I've missed you so much.”

Persistently whispering into his ear, Karina attempted to beguile him. However, the unconscious man

was completely oblivious, not even responding with a single murmur.

Karina's patience ran out. She slumped to the ground, her expression one of utter dejection.

After all this, I still can't get what I want! Are we destined to be together yet apart? No, where there's a

will, there's a way. Even if we are destined to be apart, I will risk everything to fight for a chance.

Having loved and stood by him for so many years. she could not give up just like that.

With that thought, she held her head and began to think.

It did not matter whether Sylvester touched her, as long as Rainie was led to believe that he did.

In other words, all she needed to do was create an illusion and bluff her way through.

How could I possibly miss such an excellent opportunity?

She was determined to make the most out of the scheme.
