Chapter 26
Happy reading….
“You care?”
“Of course I care. I’m your husband, Hera Altezza!”
Hera didn’t flinch as Jayden’s voice rose. She looked at the man with an indescribable look.
Husband.
One word that made Hera’s heart go wild.
Should she be happy that Jayden still thinks of her?
Will their relationship really be okay again?
Is Jayden paving the way for their return?
Hera unconsciously smiled with teary eyes there.
“Because I’m still your husband. Isn’t that what you told me?”
But Jayden’s next words made the smile on Hera’s face fade away.
“You mean?”
The man drew closer to Hera. He lowered his tall body a little so that he could get a closer look at Hera’s face.
“You met Haidar, didn’t you?” Jayden asked with a crooked smile like he was mocking Hera. “Is it proper for a married woman to meet a foreign man until late at night? Leaving her husband and sick child behind. Is it appropriate, Hera?” the man continued as if deliberately cornering Hera.
Hera chuckled a little there. “You’re asking me about whether it’s appropriate for me to meet another man without looking in the mirror, Jayden?” she said, brushing away the tears that fell down her cheeks. “Then what are you alone, huh? You shamelessly brought your mistress to live with me here even now you live with him in one house like a real married couple. And you’re still my husband….” Hera paused a bit and then walked over to Jayden. “Is it worth it?” she asked looking at Jayden intently with teary eyes.
“This isn’t about me and Elena, Hera. Don’t have anything to do with your problem!” Jayden said.
“Then what do you care if I go out to meet another man?!” shouted Hera taking all the emotions that made her chest feel tight.
“Because I care about the fate of my family and yours?!”
Their voices boomed in the big house. They stared at each other with clenched jaws and gasping for breath. If only looks could kill maybe they were both covered in blood by now.
“Don’t you think that someone who knows us sees you together with another man? Can you deal with the rumors that might blow our family apart, huh?” Jayden said making Hera’s stomach churn.
Hera was wrong to think that what Jayden had been doing with her these few days was because he wanted to rebuild a family that was on the verge of breaking up. Jayden never changes. And Hera should know that.
Everything he did was for his family. But isn’t Hera like that too? Hera survived this far because of her family. In other words they are the same.
It’s like a de javu for Hera and Jayden. Where was Hera who warned Jayden to be careful in a relationship with Elena. And now it was Jayden who warned Hera. But the difference is that Hera doesn’t have any relationship with Haidar as Jayden thinks.
“Then what about you? Would you also be able to if someone found out about your and Elena’s relationship?”
Look. Hera really didn’t want to lose to Jayden.
“Do you think those rumors won’t destroy us either, Jayden?” she said again.
“So you’re planning to get back at me?” Jayden asked in disbelief.
Hera snorted softly. Showing a terrible crooked smile on her beautiful face. “Yes. That’s what I’m doing, Jayden. So prepare yourself … because I won’t be willing to be destroyed alone. At least you have to be destroyed with me,” said Hera, brushing her tears away and then leaving. But Jayden’s scream stopped her in tracks.
“Finally you showed the real you, Hera,” Jayden said, stepping proudly as he put his hands in his trouser pockets and approached Hera. “You’re judging me because of my relationship with Elena. While you’re also related to Haidar. Wow! You’re really amazing, Hera!” said Jayden clapping his hands while laughing mockingly at Hera.
The woman with shoulder-length hair turned to Jayden. “Don’t compare me to you. I’m not as bad as you, you bastard!” Hera cursed with her fists tightly clenched at her sides.
“Really? Can you guarantee that you’ve never slept with him as long as you two met? You think I don’t know if you two see each other often as long as I’m not here?”
Plaque!!!
The question that made Hera throw another slap on Jayden’s left cheek. Her breath hitched.
“I don’t care what you know. But I still know my limits, because I don’t want Juan to have a lecherous mother… just a father!” said Hera suppressing her last words then left from there leaving Jayden.
It’s enough. The man had really gone too far. Judging someone without knowing the truth was something Hera couldn’t tolerate. She would no longer trust the man she loved so much. Because no matter how much Hera hates Jayden, there is always love in her heart. But not anymore. Hera was already too disappointed.
Hera entered the room and closed the door. She even locked it from the inside as if hoping Jayden would come knocking on the door to persuade or at least apologize to him. She walked unsteadily towards the bed. Sitting her body that felt very weak there.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
“Why do I trust him? Why can’t I give up?” Hera softly cursed her stupidity. For a moment she was so carried away by the kindness Jayden did to protect her family’s good name so as not to be exposed to rumors that could get them into trouble.
Hera should have known that. But Jayden’s warm gaze and smile are Hera’s biggest weaknesses.
Hera closed her eyes tightly letting the tears that had accumulated in her eyelids spill down her cheeks. Slowly she lay down while hitting her chest hard, which felt tighter as if the oxygen in the room was running low.
Now what is Hera’s alibi to survive?
Everything is completely ruined now. The heart that Hera struggled to wake up, was again broken by Jayden.
Not. Hera can’t be like this forever. The woman got out of bed and headed for the bathroom. Turning the hot water tap to wet her whole body, which was still fully clothed. Hera looked up at her reflection in the mirror.
“Now it’s time to go.”
