Spoiled By The Mighty After Dumping The Fuckboy

Chapter 55 An Unknown Origin

After dinner, Amanda poured a cup of tea for Iverson.

“Jasmine Flower Tea.”

“Thank you.”

Iverson took the teacup and looked around the apartment.

This apartment was a layout of two bedrooms, one living room, one kitchen, and two bathrooms, which was a necessity developed by real estate developers. Many people might be unable to afford such a small house in Ducco even if they worked hard for a lifetime. After all, this was the city center.

“The location of this building is good.”

“Really? I’ve never studied it before, but it’s quite convenient to live here,” Amanda said as she cleaned the table. “I have to thank my friend for finding it for me.”

“Your lawyer friend?”

“Yes.”

Iverson frowned slightly as if deep in thought.

“Is there anything I can do for you?”

“No,” Amanda shook her head immediately and said, “everything’s put away.”

“Just nice. Come with me to the project site in the afternoon.”

Amanda choked all of a sudden.

She had told Iverson that she could rest well because she wanted him to leave. Didn’t she set herself up?

“You’re unwilling?” Iverson looked at her.

“Of course not. I’m the person in charge of the project. Of course, I’ll come whenever you call me,” Amanda said with a forced smile, “I’ll pack up and leave now.”

“There’s no hurry. Let’s set off at four o’clock.”

“Four o’clock?”

Amanda raised her wrist subconsciously to look at the time. “It’s only half past 12.”

“Mm. Rest for a bit. You must be tired from moving.”

“Then you…”

Before Amanda could finish her question, she saw Iverson stand up on his own and go to the bookcase to choose a book. It was evident that he didn’t want to leave.

She suddenly wondered if Iverson had done it on purpose. He had not intended to go to the project site with her but to use this as an excuse to make him stay here for the whole afternoon.

But this was just Amanda’s guess, and she couldn’t ask it out loud.

It was already afternoon, and the brightest sun was shining outside the French windows.

Amanda made a new pot of tea and placed it on the coffee table. Iverson was reading a foreign novel in his hand attentively, and there was only the sound of pages being flipped in the room.

Iverson was a man of few words, and he was a man of few words. This was Amanda’s first impression of him.

Amanda’s face suddenly turned hot. She lowered her head silently and flipped through the magazine in her hand.

After an unknown period, she began to feel sleepy. At first, she could barely hold on, but because she had been busy all morning, she could not hold on in the end and fell asleep at some point.

She felt sleepy as if someone had covered her with a blanket.

She grabbed the man’s hand and said in a daze, “Don’t go.”

The man’s palm was warm and solid. He let her pull it and didn’t withdraw it.

The afternoon seemed to pass very quickly. By the time Amanda woke up, it was already evening.

Amanda sat on the sofa, and the blanket slipped off her body. Iverson was nowhere to be found.

She subconsciously clenched her fingers and grabbed a handful of empty air.

Had she fallen asleep in front of Iverson?

Could it be that my sleeping posture was terrifying and scared him away?

Just as she was wondering, Amanda caught a glimpse of the note on the coffee table. There was a line of words written on it with vigorous handwriting. “I have something urgent to attend to. Let’s keep in touch.”

Amanda heaved a sigh of relief. As she held the piece of paper, the image of Iverson sitting opposite her, holding a pen and writing, suddenly appeared in her mind.

“What am I thinking?”

Meanwhile, Iverson was on his way back to Byran’s old house.

The butler called and said that his grandma had suddenly felt unwell and wanted him to go back as soon as possible.

Back then, Iverson’s father passed away accidentally. If it weren’t for his grandma’s health, he wouldn’t have returned to the country to inherit the Byran Group.

“Young Master, you’re back.”

“Where’s grandma? Why don’t you send grandma to the hospital?”

The butler said awkwardly, “Mrs. Old Byran said that it’s not a big deal and that she doesn’t need to go to the hospital.”

“I’ll call Theo.”

Iverson was about to call his good friend Theo Scott over.

Before he could make a call, Victoria came out from Mrs. Old Byran’s side hall. “Iverson, you don’t have to call Mr. Scott. Your grandma wants you to come in.”

Iverson frowned and strode in.

“Grandma.”

Mrs. Old Byran sat on the wooden armchair with a sullen face, but she was not sick.

“I’m back.”

“Grandma, what’s wrong with you?”

“I feel uncomfortable.” Mrs. Old Byran looked at Iverson. “Tell me the truth, who is the woman you will marry?”

Iverson glanced at the door and said, “The news spread so fast. Don’t you know everything?”

A figure at the door retreated a little.

Mrs. Old Byran didn’t have time to think about it. She went straight to the point and asked, “That woman has been divorced, and her family isn’t innocent. How could you marry such a woman?”

“Grandma, you haven’t investigated her family yet. You’d better not listen to others talk about it. As for divorce.” Iverson’s eyes darkened. “Grandma, my dad has divorced as well.”

Mrs. Old Byran was speechless.

After all, Mrs. Old Byran had lived for a long time and had seen all kinds of things. She quickly calmed down and said, “Iverson, I don’t want to object to your decision, but I have never seen this woman before. If you want to marry, you must bring her back.”

“I want to develop slowly with her.”

Upon hearing this, not only was Mrs. Old Byran surprised, but Victoria, standing at the door, was also surprised.

Iverson was an apathetic man. Even though he had returned to the country, he didn’t live with his family. He lived alone, and he was always impassive to people and things. This was the first time they had seen him defend a woman like this.

Mrs. Old Byran suddenly became curious. “What kind of woman can make you care so much?”

“When the time is right, I will take her to see you, but don’t listen to the rumor.”

As he said that, Iverson glanced behind him out of his eye.

He knew that Victoria had been standing at the door and eavesdropping.

Mrs. Old Byran knew Iverson didn’t like her stepmother, so she explained, “It has nothing to do with your Aunty Carey. I learned it from someone else. Don’t overthink.”

Iverson didn’t reply. “Grandma, I’ll have dinner with you later.”

Hearing this, Mrs. Old Byran immediately became happy. “Okay.”

She shouted at the door, “Victoria, let the people in the kitchen cook a few of Iverson’s favorite dishes.”

Victoria immediately came out of the room with a smile. “I have already ordered it. Iverson will definitely have dinner with you when he returns. By the way, why don’t you invite Lydia as well?”

Before Mrs. Old Byran could nod in agreement, Iverson interrupted her. “What are you calling an outsider for?”

“How could Lydia be considered an outsider? She…”

“Aunty Carey.”

Under Iverson’s cold gaze, Victoria swallowed the rest of her words.
