Chapter 22 Divorce and Dimission
In the Sean Group.
It was already past work hours, and the two receptionists at the front desk were excitedly discussing gossip in the groupchat.
A light sound of high heels came from the door and approached.
One of them was sharp-eyed. The moment one of the receptionists caught a glimpse of Amanda from the corner of her eye, she hurriedly placed her phone upside down on the table and abruptly stood up. “Miss Jewell.”
Amanda walked with gusto in an apricot-colored office suit. The Burberry scarf was perfectly trimmed on her slender neck. She vividly displayed the beauty and coldness of the office ladylike at this moment.
She didn’t stop at the front desk and went straight into the elevator.
The receptionist suddenly came to her senses and called internal staff.
“Hello, Joey, Miss Jewell is in the office. She’s… going to the personnel department!”
Amanda went to the 12th floor, where the personnel department was.
As the elevator door slowly opened, Amanda walked into the personnel department with a sullen face.
“Miss Jewell, why are you here?”
The personnel department manager, Joey, had already received a call and rushed out of the office.
Amanda straightened her back. “What’s wrong? Am I no longer the general manager of the Sean Group? Do I need approval from the new general manager to go to any department? Had the rules just been set today?”
“That’s not what I meant, Miss Jewell. The personnel transfer order was sudden. I called you to confirm, but your phone has been turned off.”
“I’m here now, aren’t I?”
“Umm…”
The personnel manager broke out in a cold sweat. “Mr. Sean gave the transfer order. We don’t know what’s going on either. Didn’t you discuss it with him beforehand?”
Before Amanda could reply, a woman’s voice came from the door.
“Amanda!”
Hearing this, Amanda clenched her fists.
“I heard from Leo that something happened to the personnel department, so I came here in a hurry. You’re here tonight, Amanda. What could have happened here?”
“Miss Fane… It’s the personnel transfer order.”
Someone drew close to Olinka and explained.
Miss Fane?
Amanda glanced at the man who spoke, and that man was startled and immediately hid behind.
Just a few hours after personnel transfer orders had been issued, the faces of these people who would adapt to the situation had all been revealed.
Olinka pretended to be surprised. “The personnel transfer order? Did you come for that, Amanda?”
Amanda snorted and said coldly, “As a senior executive of a listed company, my dismissal was just a personnel transfer order. No one talked to me. Even the board of directors voted for me. Don’t you think I should come for this?”
“Huh? I don’t know. Mr. Sean suddenly told me at the meeting this morning. I thought you and Mr. Sean had discussed it, and you didn’t come to the company yesterday.”Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Looking at Olinka’s harmless expression, Amanda wished she could grind her teeth into pieces.
She kept such a two-faced woman by her side and carefully cultivated her!
As they were talking, Halley arrived.
“What are you doing so early in the morning? Why are you all gathered here?”
Halley’s face darkened when he saw Amanda. “For the personnel transfer order, right? Let me tell you why. Miss Jewell has signed a contract with the Byran Group.”
There was an uproar after these words were said.
“The project with the Byran Group is a success? That’s amazing, Miss Jewell.”
“Shouldn’t Miss Jewell be promoted? Why did she was dismissed?”
…
Amid the discussion, Halley said coldly, “To ensure the smooth progress of the project and satisfy the Byran Group, Miss Jewell personally took charge of the project until it’s over. During this time, Olinka will act as the spokesperson for the most part.”
Olinka immediately took over the conversation. “That’s right, Miss Jewell, please don’t misunderstand Mr. Sean. I’m asking you to concentrate on the project. Halley doesn’t want you to tire yourself out.”
Halley?
Amanda felt that she was being a little careless. In the past, when Olinka had addressed Halley in this way in private, it would occasionally be like this in public. She had never taken it seriously.
But now, it sounded particularly ear-piercing.
The two of them echoed each other’s words as if they were a match made by God.
Amanda suppressed the anger and disgust in her heart. She put her handbag on the table and handed a resignation application to Halley in front of all the personnel department staff. “Since Mr. Sean and the personnel manager are here, please sign my resignation application.”
Resign?
The entire office fell silent. Everyone looked at each other, not daring to make a sound.
Everyone knew that the Sean Group had relied on Amanda until today. How many clients would she have to take with her if she left?
But Miss Jewell and Mr. Sean were a couple. Even if the transferred work, the whole company was theirs. How could Miss Jewell resign just like that?
Halley also couldn’t believe it. “You want to resign? Do you know what you’re talking about?”
Amanda took out another document from her handbag. “There’s one more thing. Although it’s a private matter, it will involve the shareholders’ decision-making in the future, so it’s better to tell you in advance. I’m going to divorce you, Mr. Sean.”
Amanda’s reply exploded in the small personnel department like a thunderclap.
“Amanda Jewell, are you crazy?”
Halley could not believe it. The emotions he had suppressed for the whole night burst out at this moment, and he completely lost his usual elegance. “I haven’t proposed a divorce, and you’re bringing it up to me? Are you feeling guilty, or are you trying to strike first?”
Before Amanda could reply, Olinka suddenly said, “Amanda, don’t be impulsive. Why did you suddenly ask for a divorce? If you mind that I’m acting as your representative for you, I won’t do it. Halley did it for your good so that you can lie low. Besides, didn’t the news yesterday have to be suppressed?”
“What news?”
Whispers immediately broke out in the office. Yesterday’s news broadcast was released quickly, so few people knew about it. As soon as Olinka mentioned it, someone immediately dug out the retained video.
“Isn’t that fake news? Is it true?”
“What news?”
“It’s said that Miss Jewell had an affair with the Byran Group’s CEO, Mr. Byran and that Miss Jewell relied on sleeping with men to do business…”
…
Gossip surged like the tide. In this era where just one person’s words could drown someone, public opinion didn’t give a damn about morality.
Amanda clenched the resignation application in her hand, her face deathly pale.
Olinka dared to complain first!
