Chapter 15 - The Morning After
Lyken was surprised when he realized that his hand was on Jada's book. He just woke up and he was greeted by such indecency.
He quickly removed it and looked at the woman sleeping next to him. She looked peaceful and he didn't have the heart to wake her up.
He was fine with the torture he had to go through last night. He's okay with it, especially if he wakes up with Jada next to her. That makes up for it.
Lyken stood up and headed straight to the kitchen. When he was done preparing breakfast, he brushed his teeth and washed his shirt.
He grabbed a shirt and wore it with his pajama, then he sat on the chair by the foot of his bed. He was moving without making any noise so that he wouldn't wake her up.
After a good ten minutes, he heard a phone ringing. Looking around, he realized that it was Jada's.
She suddenly woke up, turned to her side, and answered the call. Lyken wasn't sure who she was talking to but it didn't sound like they were talking about business.
"Hmm?... Yeah, I just woke up... Today? I'll try... Not sure where I am at the moment... Okay... Bye!"
That was all he heard from their conversation and he couldn't help but feel curious. He doesn't have the guts to ask though, so he just let go of it.
Looking around for a few seconds, Jada stood up from the bed and smiled at him sweetly, as she saw him sitting on the chair. "Good morning," she greeted him while stretching her arms out.
Jada acted surprised when she realized that she was not wearing a shirt. She only has her bra on.
"Woah! Did something happen between us last night?" she asked in a fake panic. Lyken was about to reply but she suddenly stood up straight, placed her hand on her island, and started feeling it. "Hmm. I'm not sore, so I guess we didn't do it," she blurted out while sighing in relief.
Lyken was surprised to see what she did. 'That was it? She woke up in another man's bed and she was fine as long as she wasn't sore. Really Jadanela?'
She stood up, picked up her blouse, tied her hair in a bun, then asked where the bathroom was. As far as he could remember, she knew where exactly the bathroom was.
'Why is she like this? She's acting like an alien!'
When she came out, she took her phone and texted, then picked up her bag and walked straight to the door. She didn't even bid him farewell.
"Wait, you're leaving already?" Lyken asked, almost running to close the distance between them.
Jada furrowed her brows as if confused as to why he was asking, "Yeah, are we doing anything?" she asked.
The man was taken aback and wasn't able to react right away. Then her face suddenly brightened as if she remembered something.
"Ah yeah, thank you for letting me sleep over," then she planted a kiss on his cheek before turning around to leave.
Lyken was left dumbfounded. 'What just happened? I'll bet our company she was sober when she did that to me last night. But why does it seem like nothing actually happened when I almost lost it, wishing she could do it again?' No matter what he does, he can't comprehend. Lyken can't understand what exactly is going on with Jada. It's like he doesn't know her at all.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
He doesn't know where Jada, the love of his life, went. For Lyken, the woman who just left is definitely not her.
That was a different person, a total stranger. He suddenly felt scared. Scared to know that this is how she's been living her life. This is how she lived her life while in New York.
He walked towards the couch and plopped on it. If that is the case, then he doesn't think he can accept it. He just can't.
Meanwhile, Jada was all smiles when she stepped out of Lyken's unit. Recalling his face last night, especially when she stopped giving him a head just when he was about to cum, can definitely give her a good laugh.
She had already reached the parking lot when she realized she hadn't brought her car. So she headed to the street to hail a cab.
Jada went straight home, not far from Lyken's place, so she made it there in as short as twenty minutes. When she arrived, she didn't even have to unlock it. There were people inside and she wasn't even surprised. She knew because, for sure, their friends weren't able to sleep thinking about how she and Lyken were doing the whole night. Most especially her pink friends. She bet they're dying to hear the juicy details. Though Jada was already expecting them to be there, she was still surprised when she saw Kobe, Steve, and Robin too. All six of them were having coffee in her living room and they were all in their pajamas. Well, not literally, but if you look at it, whoever hosted a pajama party will feel embarrassed. They all looked like they were fresh from bed.
"Good morning buddies!" smiling as she greeted them.
Ada immediately approached and pulled her toward the couch. "So what happened?" he asked right away, as soon as Jada's butt came in contact with the couch. "What happened where?" she asked innocently.
"Byotch! Don't keep us hanging or I'll pour this coffee over you!" Ada warned, his nostrils flaring as he held back his emotion. She smiled sheepishly before leaning back.
"Come on Ja, what happened?" Steve pried, she furrowed her brows at him, wondering when he became a gossipmonger.
"I spent the night at Lyken's place," she grinned. They let out a sigh in unison, showing discontent after hearing what she said.
"And?" Ada asked again, obviously wanting more.
"What do you mean, and? What do you guys expect? That we'll be playing hide and seek the entire night? We went to his bedroom and I gave him a head! But... we weren't able to finish because my head suddenly ached, so I stopped. Then we went to bed."
Kobe looked like he was almost ready to throw his mug at her. He would have done it if she hadn't turned to face him.
Honey's eyes narrowed at her best friend, while Robin and Steve shook their heads. Of course, the pinks have the most exaggerated reaction. They can't be beaten at that.

"You, byotch! That would hurt! You're a sadist!" Bambi exclaimed as he sat next to her.
Jada was about to stand up to go to her bedroom but Bambi pulled her down again to sit between him and Honey. There was nothing she could do, so she chose not to refuse. "Jada, can you please be honest with me?" Honey asked in a serious tone.
"Of course, you're my BFF," she responded to her truthfully.
"With what you're doing, with how much you've changed in a span of what, three years? Two and a half? Has Lyken done something to you that resulted in this?" her expression remained serious.
Jada looked up, pretending to be pondering her question. But in reality, the answer to that question is off-limits. As she said, she'd rather keep what she's seen to herself.
"As far as I can remember, no, he didn't do anything. All I know is that I got scared of that party. I can't help but think that every time he goes out and parties hard, he ends up doing something stupid. When I saw that it was already 10:30 in the evening and you hadn't texted me yet that he had already left, I got really anxious. Usually, when he parties past 10 PM, that means he loses track of time. That means he's drunk and he's lost control of himself. I got scared that the next day, one of you would tell me that he had done something again, so I decided to just leave. Because I realized that I wouldn't be able to accept any bad news about him after the first three," she explained lengthily and full of lies. All six of them let out a heavy sigh. They all looked like they were relieved of something after she explained things to them.
Jada was thankful that they bought the lie she sold. But she felt sorry for Honey. It's unfair not to trust her, especially when it comes to this.
Then again, she knew that whatever she told her, Kobe would find out about it. For sure, Kobe will ask, and she's not yet ready to answer anyone's questions.
"So, you guys okay? Can I breathe normally again?" she jest, looking at each one of them.
"You know what, Ja? I liked the changes I see in you. You become friendlier, and less shy and your personality becomes bubblier. I like all that except you've gone wild," Robin commented as he shook his head after saying the last part. "Wow, Rob! Judgmental? Wild? Like a pig? Wild boar?!" she asked and laughed as she found herself too corny, but they all smiled as well. "Nevermind!" he spat before throwing a pillow at me.
After that, they started talking among themselves. Something not related to either her or Lyken and she felt relieved.
She laid down on the couch, resting her head on Ada's lap. She was in that position when her phone rang and Bambi handed it over to her.
Jada checked the caller's ID, quickly stood up, and walked towards the kitchen when she saw who was calling. She was standing not far from them, so she was certain they'd hear her.
"Hello, Mama Vane?" She's a freelance talent scout who hires models that will participate in an event.
After answering the call, she even heard someone sigh, disappointed. Whoever that was, he or she was probably expecting it was Lyken.
Jada looked at Honey and gave her a thumbs up but she responded with a thumbs down. She got the message and passed it on to the person on the other line.

After the call, she went back to the couch, sitting next to Ada with her feet up. She started checking her inbox for any important messages that she might have missed. Fortunately, there's none.
"You got a gig, byotch?" Ada asked as he plopped down on the couch. Jada nodded at him before turning her attention to the TV.
"Where will it be held?" Bambi asked after coming out of the bathroom.
"Europe," she answered. In her peripheral view, she saw Steve and Robin looking at each other.
"When are you leaving?" Honey followed up.
"In two weeks. I'm leaving on a Friday," but that's not true.
She deliberately gave them the wrong information regarding her departure because she felt like there was something about their questions. It smelled fishy.
Whatever it is they're planning, she can't let it happen, so they can't know the actual details of her departure. She can't fall into their trap.
They all nodded slowly after hearing what she said and that confirmed her hunch that they were indeed planning something. Good thing she's quick at sensing that.
"By the way Honey, why aren't you coming?" she asked, as she suddenly remembered her response earlier. Kobe reached out for her hand and they both shook their heads at her. "Why?" she repeated when they didn't give any explanation. They looked at each other, then Honey placed a hand over her stomach. Jada's eyes widened in surprise. "Seriously?" screaming as she stood up.
They both suddenly laughed. Knowing it was a prank, she rolled her eyes at them, smirked, then plopped down on the couch.
"Dream on, you two" she snapped at them.
"I don't want her to do modeling anymore," Kobe pouted. "Our company's stable now, so I guess it's okay if she stops working. Besides, I want her for my eyes only," he finished, kissing the back of Honey's hand. "Awww, how sweet..." Jada teased.
In all honesty, she's happy for them, especially for her best friend. She knew how much she loved Kobe. That's why, out of all her relationships, Kobe lasted the longest.
And it's the same for Kobe, of course. Throughout the years, he's shown love and care for her sister-from-another-mother.
"What about you? When are you reconciling with Lyken?" Robin piped in, leaning closer to her.
She pushed his face away with her hand, "Next question please," she responded, smirking at her friend.
They all laughed and she did too. But in her head, he was already strangling the person next to her.
