Chapter 422
"Hey, I heard your brand's going to be part of Lendora Fashion Week. Congrats!" Ethan said.
"You heard about that?" I was surprised. "That spread fast."
"Of course, I'd hear about it right away. That's great news," Ethan said as if it were the most obvious thing. "As your business partner, I'm super proud of you. You're definitely going to make waves in the fashion world."
A warm feeling spread in my chest. "Thanks for believing in me. I'll work even harder to make sure I don't let you down."Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
"Yeah, I've got faith in you," Ethan said, pausing for a second before suddenly changing the subject. "By the way, has the itinerary for Lendora Fashion Week been locked in yet? Is there anything the company can do to help?" "Um... not yet. The organizers are handling everything, so the company doesn't need to stress about it," I replied.
"How can we just leave everything to the organizers?" Ethan asked, clearly unhappy about it. "As an emerging designer, you don't have a lot of industry connections yet. I'll send someone reliable with you to make sure everything runs smoothly." I hesitated, that sense of being controlled creeping up again. "Is that really... necessary? I don't want to cause any trouble for the company-"
"Why are you saying that?" Ethan cut in. "The company's here to support you. Besides, I'm worried about you being alone in a foreign country. Having an assistant with you will put my mind at ease."
My heart skipped a beat. "W-Well, I guess I'll have to trouble you then. With the company backing me this much, I'm definitely going to make it count."
"I believe in you," Ethan said, his voice surprisingly gentle. "Evelyn, take care of yourself. Just let me know if you need anything."
"Got it," I replied, my face turning red. "Thanks, Mr. Grayson."
I hung up and let out a deep breath. My mind was all over the place.
Lianne and Kevin saw the look on my face and asked, "What's going on, Evelyn? Did Mr. Grayson need something?"
I shook my head, forcing a small smile. "Nothing, he just wanted to let me know Carlos' issue is taken care of, and I can focus on getting ready for Fashion Week." Lianne looked relieved. "Glad to hear that."
Kevin gave me a thoughtful look.
"Evelyn, I can't shake the feeling that
he cares about you more than just as a business partner. Don't you think he's a little too concerned
about you?"
My heart skipped a beat, and my smile faltered. "You're reading too much into it. He's acting that way because he values my design skills and wants to help me grow. "Besides, as my business partner, it's in his best interest to support me. We're not getting emotionally involved anymore."
Kevin seemed like he had more to say but decided not to push it.
I sighed quietly. I couldn't afford to overthink it. I knew once I started, I'd be lost in it. I couldn't let myself fall for Ethan again. It had to stay professional between us, nothing more. ,
I threw myself into getting ready for Lendora Fashion Week. As a newcomer to the global stage, I knew the weight of the responsibility on my shoulders.
Lianne and Kevin, my most trusted assistants, were both buried in their work.
Kevin focused on perfecting the designs and production, while Lianne managed everything for Fashion Week-from selecting models to making sure all the logistics were covered. Meanwhile, I spent my days deep in creative work while regularly checking in with the PR company and media outlets.
I had to maintain my best image at all times as the brand's face to make sure the public saw me in the right light.
Even though Ethan wasn't here
during all this, it felt like he was still part of everything. I could tell he'd put a ton of work into everything, from picking the venue for the fashion show to handling the promotion.
Finally, Fashion Week was here. With the new season's designs packed, I hopped on the flight to Lendora.
