Rejected Slave To The Alpha

Chapter 80

Chapter 80

Chapter 80.

Astel’s POV.

Just as | was about to lose myself in my work, there was a knock at the door. With a sigh, | said, “Come in. The door opened, and a tall, uniformed guard entered the room. He bowed low, his voice low and deferential. “Alpha, it’s time for the party.” | groaned, not in the mood to socialize with a number of stuffy Alphas.

“I'm not going.” | said, waving my hand dismissively. “You needn't bother yourself.” | opened another file, my mind already returning to the task at hand.

“But the Great Alphas will be there,” the guard persisted, his voice taking on a pleading tone. “It would be an advantage to you. You could dine with them, build alliances.”

| sighed, my patience wearing thin. “I don’t want to go out,” | said firmly. “If | want to make a deal with someone, I'll visit their pack.”

The guard didn’t move, his lips trembling slightly. | couldn’t help but notice his nervous energy, and it made me uneasy. “What?” | snapped. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

“| heard Alpha Kex will be available,” he blurted out.

“And?” | asked, dreading the answers.

“Nelly will be there,” he said, quietly.

| froze, a lump forming in my throat. My heart pounded in my chest.

My mind was racing. | had been trying to find a way to see Nelly, to make things right between us. | wanted to take back everything | had said to her, to make her see that | was sorry. But every time | tried to reach out, Harry turned me away. Now, fate was handing me a chance to make things right. | looked up at the guard, determination. coursing through my veins.

“Get the car ready,” | said firmly. | was going to this party, and | was going to fix things with Nelly.

| rose from my chair, my mind made up. | walked to the bathroom, the floor cools under my bare feet. | turned on the shower, the water hitting the tile with a soothing

sound. | undressed and stepped into the stream of water, the heat helping to clear my head. | took my time, washing away the grime of the day, the anxiety of the impending party.

| stepped out of the shower, the towel soft against my skin. | dressed in my finest suit, the fabric smooth and luxurious.

| combed my hair, running my fingers through the damp strands, and then | put on the cologne that Nelly loved so much. | looked at myself in the mirror, my eyes filled with determination.

| took a deep breath, and then | strode out of the bathroom. | headed for the door, not letting myself hesitate. | was going to this party, and | was going to get Nelly back. Nothing was going to stop me.

As we drove to the party, | made a quick stop at a store. | walked inside and picked out a bouquet of her favorite flowers. | also stopped at a bakery and purchased a cupcake that | knew she would love.

| placed both items in the back seat of the car. | was determined to show Nelly that | was a changed man, and that | was willing to do whatever it took to make her happy.

When we arrived at the party, | took a deep breath and made my way inside. As we entered the party, | could feel my heart pounding in my chest. | took a deep breath.

| looked around the room, scanning the crowd for any sign of Nelly or Kex. But | couldn't see either of them. | turned to the guard who had accompanied me, whispering, “If you see Nelly or Kex, please let me know.”

He nodded, his expression neutral, and | turned my attention back to the crowd. | greeted a few Alphas as | made my way to the counter, trying to put on a brave face. “Aglass of wine,” | said to the waiter, who nodded and promptly brought me a glass. | took a sip, the liquid warming my throat.

My eyes were glued to the entrance, my heart fluttering every time someone new entered the room. | couldn’t stop myself from wondering if it would be Nelly. Would she even want to speak to me?

My lips curled into a smile as | saw Nelly walking towards me. But that smile quickly faded when | noticed Kex’s hand wrapped around her waist. | felt the grip on my cup tighten, my wolf whining in pain at the sight.

| fought to keep my expression neutral, but inside | was seething. | had to remind myself to stay calm, to keep my cool. But it was so hard when Nelly was standing right in front of me, her hand on Kex’s arm, giggling as Kex whispered something in her ears.

| watched as Kex introduced Nelly to the people around him, his arm still around her waist. She smiled brightly, and | felt a pang of jealousy. None of them seemed to notice the tension between us, or the way my jaw was clenched in anger.

| had heard that Kex had a mate, and | was expecting to see her here as his servant. But there she was, standing right beside him, as if she were his equal.

My wolf was howling in my head, demanding | do something, anything. But | forced myself to stay still, to keep my composure.

Nelly looked different than | remembered. She was glowing, her eyes bright and her skin radiant. | couldn’t help but compare her to Shantel, the woman | had been courting for the past few months. | rejected Nelly for, and then what happened? | shoved the memories of that night away from my head.

Nelly was leagues above her, in every way. | had been a fool to think otherwise. | had been blinded by my need for a strong wolf, and had overlooked the most important thing of all — Nelly’s heart. | knew now that | had made a terrible mistake.

Suddenly, | felt a presence behind me, and | knew it was Kex. | could feel his eyes on me, and | was desperate not to make eye contact with him. | would rather not give away my intentions, or to give him the satisfaction of knowing how much he had upset me.

| kept my head down, hoping he would just leave me alone. But | could feel his gaze boring into my direction.

| stylishly looked up as | saw him walking towards the direction. | kept my head down, my heart pounding in my chest. Just as Kex was about to approach me, | heard someone call out to him from across the room. | let out a breath of relief. my muscles relaxing slightly.

| glanced up and saw Nelly leaving the party. | quickly stood up and followed her, not wanting to lose sight of her.

As | tiptoed after her, | tried my best to move silently, so as not to alert her to my presence. | followed her down the hall, until she reached the bathroom door.

Just as she was about to open it, | moved quickly, pinning her against the wall. | placed my hand over her mouth. a
