Chapter 166
Chapter 166
The sun was already shining brightly by the time Naomi woke up. The curtains in her room were shut, so only a sliver of light shone into the room.
It was dark all around her. She looked at the time on her phone and noted that it was 9:40 a.m., which was late.
Naomi's eyes widened as she looked at the time closely once more. This time, she was wide awake. Was it almost ten already?
She sat up, and a jab of pain came from her ankle. Her eyebrows furrowed when she recalled that she had sprained her ankle.
Naomi then remembered everything that happened the night before. She stiffened before subconsciously looking toward the couch.
The blanket was there, but Scott was no longer there. NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
She let out a sigh of relief and relaxed.
Scott must have left for work or something. He had a busy work life, and he could not possibly keep staying there. It was good enough of him to stay the night.
Naomi knew that Quentin and the others would arrive in Herland that day. She wondered if they had arrived. She sat up and called Quentin.
"Naomi." It was quite noisy in the background. She could also hear the flight announcements.
She asked, "Quentin, are you all at the airport?"
"Yes, and we're about to board!"
Naomi smiled. "Okay, then. By the way, I have something to tell you."
"Do tell."
Naomi told him about how she sprained her ankle and told him to not tell her parents about this in case they worry.
Quentin promised her, but he was concerned when he heard that she sprained her ankle. He asked her about it and reminded her to care for herself.
Naomi listened and recounted her situation for the past two days.
Quentin nodded and said, "Okay. Don't worry about the work. We have a lot of people. Just get well soon. If we need you halfway, we'll call you."
"Alright." Naomi was relieved after the call with Quentin. All that mattered was that her parents did not find out about her injuries.
She was going to recuperate and get well soon. Luckily, her hand was almost fully healed, so she could do a bit of work.
Naomi sat up and thought for a while before flipping the covers aside and getting down the bed.
She had not found a caretaker yet. She intended on calling the concierge if they could arrange a caretaker for her after washing up.
Once her leg was recovered, the work in Herland would be almost done too. She would return to Horizon City, and her parents would be none the wiser.
At that thought, she took the remote to the curtains and opened them. Light shone in, brightening the entire room.
She narrowed her eyes a little before carefully heading to the bathroom.
It was half an hour later when Naomi finished washing up. She looked at the time on her phone and was about to call the concierge when she saw an unread message on her phone.
Scott.
Naomi was stunned.
Whatever transpired the night before baffled her. At the same time, she did not have the time to think about it closely. After waking up the following morning, she had stopped thinking about it as it was unnecessary.
The fact was clear: He cared a lot about Olivia, and Olivia was very important to him.
Not once did Scott have any feelings for her in the three years that they were married. That proved everything. That was why a hug meant nothing, even if she could not understand the intention behind it.
Naomi blinked and tapped into the message to read it.
