Chapter 27
Marina dropped her spoon on the plate, her eyes wide open. “Are you playing with my heart? Mr. Jayden asked you to accompany him to the night party,” She rambles loudly.NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
Evelyn shrugs, looking at her over-dramatic friend. She glances around the cafeteria, checking if people are staring at them, but they are not. Everyone else is enveloped in their world.
She heaves a sigh of relief, then faces her friend.
“I am not kidding. It is not a big deal, anyway,”
Marina shoots her friend a deadly glare.”It is a big deal, dummy. The CEO of Turner Industries asked you out on a date,” She utters.
Eve let out a loud hiss. “Stop making a big deal out of this stuff. It is normal. Besides, I have a boyfriend. You shouldn’t be too happy about this,” She says.
Marina frowns. “Wait, I think Morris Anthony also invited you to the same night party, right?” She asks her friend.
“That is the main problem. Morris invited me to the night party, and Jayden also invited me even though his approach was so rude. But who should I accompany to the party?” Evelyn asks.
Marina chuckles softly. “You know what? Just stay at home. To be honest, this is too tough,” She complains.
“I know, right? Honestly, I prefer to go with Morris Anthony. That is a dream come true. I have always pictured him holding my hands and going to exotic parties. Who knows that my dream will come true?”
Marina shrugs. She is now tired of her friend’s talk about the two men. She just wants to focus on her meal.
“Go with him then,” She mumbles under her breath.
“But I want to go with Jayden Turner too. I like the way he treats a lady. He will protect me from other men and he won’t flirt with me,”
“You are confused, and I like that. What I love to see,” Marina comments, grinning from ear to ear.
“I know you are a bad friend. Idiot,” Evelyn snaps at her.

Jayden is busy checking out beautiful gowns in an online store. He thinks that getting a dress for his secretary is better than going shopping. It is a waste of time and energy, plus he wants to look for something that is to his taste, without caring about the price.
Maybe, buying an expensive dress is another way of apologizing to her. He doesn’t know why he seems to care about Evelyn.
It is unusual for him to surf the internet for a dress a lady is going to wear.
Evelyn seems to be the first for everything.
She is the first lady that ever talked back at him, she is the first lady he had ever told ‘sorry’. the first he always adds ‘please’ before requesting anything from her. Now, he is looking for a gown she will wear to the dinner party, instead of using the time to do other important things.
All of a sudden, the door to his office opens, snapping him out of his thoughts. It is his friend, Joe. Maybe, this is the right time to apologize to him.
He watches as Joe sits on his favorite couch in his office, without greeting him or muttering a word.
Jayden walks over to him and sits beside him on the couch. He turns to Joe.”You were right. I am a fool,” he admits.
“Thank God you are in your right sense now,” Joe mutters under his breath.
“I should not be trying to justify my foolishness for having mixed emotions when I saw her, right?”
“You are human. It is normal for you to feel like that, but you shouldn’t let your feelings get the best of you. That is the main thing,”
“I understand. You know I’m a smart young handsome sweetheart,” Jayden says proudly, his arrogant nature kicking in, and taking full force. Time to get on his secretary’s nerves, to the extent that she will lose her mind.
Joe rolls his eyes at him.”You are smart, of course. Is that the reason Morris Anthony invites Evelyn to the night party taking place at Hunt mansion?”
Jayden frowns. “What do you mean? I invited her to the night party before the lunch break,”
Joe smirks. He knows that his friend will reach his highest level of anger now. Just because it is about Evelyn.
“I guess Morris invited her first. What a smart guy!” Joe comments.
“Morris is dumb,” Jayden blurts out. “Is he in competition with me or what? He definitely knows that I am going to invite her over to the party,”
Joe chuckles silently, then it turns to loud laughter.
“What is funny, asshole?”Jayden shouts at him.
“The funniest part is both of you compete, over a lady with a boyfriend,” Joe says, caressing his tummy as he laughs.
“Shut up,” Jayden snaps at him. “I am not in a competition with anyone. By the way, I am sure that Evelyn will follow me to the night party,”
Deep down in his mind, he wishes that Evelyn won’t embarrass him. The lady is full of surprises, she may decide to follow Morris to the night party.
Morris is her crush, and he is nothing, but just her boss

It has only been twenty minutes since Jayden reaches the night party, but he is already feeling lonely. Joe came with him, but he is on the dance floor now, dancing with a random lady.
His forest green eyes roam around the hall, he can feel some lady’s eyes fixed on him. He is not in the mood for that. In fact, he is never in the mood of flirting with a lady, knowing the lady will end up falling for him and he will eventually break her heart. He doesn’t want anyone to go through heartbreak because of him. By the way, he only wants to be with one lady. His secretary, Evelyn Jones.
He wishes she is here with him, this place will be lively for him. Who knows? She might turn at the last moment.
A few minutes ago, she texted him not to worry about giving her a ride. She said she would come to the night party by herself. He hopes she won’t come with Morris Anthony. He hasn’t seen his face at all.
“Who are you looking for? Your pretty secretary?”
Jayden turns to the back. Talking of the devil, it is Morris Anthony. Seeing his face disgusts him, but at least, he is not here with Evelyn.
Morris gives an evil smirk. “Evelyn will be here soon. Sorry in advance, she won’t be with you. I invited her first. Not because of anything, but to prove a point to you,”
“Which point?” Jayden queries.
“I am every ladies’ dream. Even your sensible secretary can’t resist. Just know this and know peace,”
Jayden glares at him. “What should I do with this information?”
“Stop hating on me, Jayden Turner. It is damn useless,”
“Dîckhead, I’m not – ”
Jayden’s words are interrupted by the mutters which fill the air. He glances at the entrance of the hall, he can’t stop himself from saying ‘Wow’. This is the real definition of beauty.
The lady who causes everyone to stop and look is no one other than her sassy secretary, Evelyn.
Jayden’s eyelids dropped. She is not putting on the gown he bought for her. Maybe, she is here for that son of a bitch, Morris Anthony.
“Wow! She is wearing the expensive gown I bought for her,” Morris whispers.
Jayden doesn’t mutter anything. No one needs to tell him that Morris is nothing but a fool.
He keeps staring at Evelyn, till she reaches in front of him.
Evelyn’s honey-brown eyes gleam brightly, grinning from ear to ear. “Mr. Jayden, how do I look? Breathtaking, right?” She asks happily, not even caring about Morris’s existence…
