Chapter 14
Chapter 14
Olivia was slowly coming to her senses. She tried to sit up and opened her eyes, but she couldn't. She
noticed Drake coming towards her to help her sit on the bed.
“What happened to me?” Olivia asked in confusion.
He explained, “You went into shock, which caused you to blackout.”
“Am I in the emergency room?” She inquired.
“Yes.”
“Okay.” Olivia tried to get up to attend the rest of the lecture, but Drake stopped her.
“Olivia, you have already missed one lecture, and with only one more to go, you might as well take a
break and explain what the hell happened back there.”
Olivia was hesitant to follow his request, but she knew she needed to tell someone. Drake and Jiggy
were the only people who knew the whole truth about Olivia, which is why she felt so at ease with
them. Olivia told him everything from the moment she stepped into Rosewood until now.
“I still can't believe it.” Drake couldn't say anything.
“I don't blame Sia and Mason for being upset. For the past three years, I haven't been the best person
for them, and Caleb knows nothing about me. So he would never have guessed that pushing me
towards the locker would send me into shock.”
“I know that, Livy. But that doesn’t give him the right to treat you so harshly. And they need to know that
you are not comfortable with people touching you roughly.”
“I cannot tell them, Drake. I cannot. I don’t want their sympathy or any kind of pity. I just want to forget
everything. I am not even sure why I am here. I just want to leave this place and go somewhere where
no one knows me. I am just waiting for the year to end so I can leave this place for good.”
“Olivia...” Drake tried to talk, but Olivia interrupted him.
“No, Drake. This place has lots of painful memories.”
“What about Cameron?” He asked.
“I don’t deserve him. I am not in a stable condition. As it is, he is just a kid. He will be able to forget me
easily.”
“Will you be able to forget him, or will you be able to live without him?” This made Olivia look into
Drake’s eyes. Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
“I will survive. I have lots of memories of him that will keep me going in my life.”
Drake realized that arguing with Olivia was pointless. She has always been stubborn and persistent in
her decision-making.
“At the very least, don’t cut yourself off from your friends until you leave.” He told her desperately.
“It will be easier for them to handle themselves when I leave again. It’s better that they hate me.”
“Olivia, please. Don’t do this to yourself. Stop hurting yourself. Talk to your friends about it. Don’t tell
them about your last three years, but at least try to rekindle your relationship with them.”
Olivia gave a nod.
Caleb was concerned about Olivia. When he left Olivia in the corridors, he noticed she had a terrified
expression on her face, as if she was expecting something harsh from him. He couldn’t tell what her
reaction was, but it wasn’t pleasant. Caleb was feeling guilty yet again. He’d overstepped his bounds
this time and struck her nerve. He shouldn’t have included her parents in this.
Another lecture without Olivia. He figured she might be crying over how he verbally abused her. Mason
and Sia were also concerned about her sudden disappearance, but they remained silent until the
school day was over.
“Where is Olivia? We have the same lectures.” Sia asked. Olivia’s behaviour still upsets her and
Mason, both.
“She could have gone home,” Caleb mumbled guiltily.
“Well, I heard Prof. Drake informing Mrs. Wood that she wouldn’t be attending lectures because she
had been taken to the medical room,” Trevor said, drawing all three of their attention to him.
“What happened to her?” Caleb asked him in a panic.
“I don’t know exactly. But when I followed Prof. Drake to the medical room, I overheard the nurse telling
him that Olivia had gone into shock and fainted. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to sneak in. But I could tell
she was pale from a distance. I really hope she is fine now.”
“Shit” Caleb was in a state of panic. His words harmed her more than he realized.
After the lecture, the three of them dashed towards the medical room to meet Olivia, but Jenna stopped
them.
“Not right now, Jenna.” Sia glared at her.
“Goody two-shoes has a voice now. You continue to look out for Olivia after she humiliated her so-
called best friends in front of the entire cafeteria. She is a damaged good.”
“Shut the hell up, Jenna. If you say a single word about her, then I won't be responsible for my actions.”
Mason gritted his teeth.
“Oh, you are going to hit me,” Jenna smirked.
“You should be thankful that I don't hit girls.” He stated.
“But I can,” Sia said, scowling.
“You bitch...” Jenna was about to slap Sia, but Olivia grabbed her hand just in time.
“Don't even think about touching her. I might not be their best friend now, but at one point, I was. Don't
mess with them Jenna, you will regret it.” Olivia squeezed her hand a little tighter.
“You don't scare me, Olivia,” Jenna said venomously.
“Really? So, you wouldn't get scared when your father finds out he almost lost his job because of you.
Imagine what will happen when everyone finds out that a cop's daughter is nothing less than a criminal
herself.” Olivia smirked.
“You'd never dare, and I am not a criminal.”
“Tampering with legal documents of your father's work for an exam question paper isn't illegal?” She
cocked her brow.
Jenna was burning with rage and was scared. “How do you know that?”
“Well, you see, I have my sources. Your father was a really good friend with my parents, and he told me
how he almost lost his job. And it didn't take a genius to figure out that you had something to do with it.”
With that, Jenna left. She was clearly scared of what Olivia told her.
“I can't believe she would do such a thing.”
“You wouldn't be telling her father, would you?” Caleb asked her.
“I am not that heartless,” Olivia said, her face blank.
“Olivia, are you all right? We heard you passed out. In fact, we were on our way to meet you when that
bitch stopped us.” Sia asked her.
“How did you find out?” Olivia was taken aback and asked them.
Mason explained, “Trevor kind of saw you there.”
“I am all right. Just tired.” She gave a hazy explanation.
She wanted to apologize to them for embarrassing them in front of the entire school, but she refrained.
The greater the distance between them, the better it will be in the future.
“Are you sure?” Caleb asked her gently by touching her arm, causing her to flinch. Olivia could tell he
was feeling guilty by the look on his face.
“I am fine. Just don’t tell Ella and David about it. They will unnecessarily panic. I asked Drake to keep
his mouth shut so that no one from the school would inform them.” Caleb nodded in response. He
didn’t want to face his parents’ wrath and disappointed expression once more.
“You are on a first-name basis with Prof. Drake?” Sia asked her, astonished.
“Yes, we have a mutual friend, and we used to hang out outside of school. So he insisted on calling
him, Drake. Anyway, he is only seven years older than us.” She shrugged casually.
“But still. I mean, it seems you guys are close.” Sia tried to pry further.
“Yes, we are. That’s why we were both comfortable talking the way we were in the class.” Olivia then
walked away from the school gate, not giving them another chance to question her.
What she didn’t realize was that Jenna had been listening in on their conversation the entire time. She
fully intended to use this against Olivia.
Sia, Mason, and Caleb suspect that something unethical is going on between Prof. Drake and Olivia.
Caleb understood somewhere along the way that Olivia’s behaviour was a ruse to make Sia and
Mason despise her. However, there is more to Olivia than what she was letting people believe.
She wouldn’t have rescued Sia if she didn’t care for her. When Jenna was about to slap her, he and
Mason were both ready to grab her hand. But Olivia beat them to it. She wouldn’t have threatened her
if she didn’t care about them.
Caleb was becoming increasingly confused by Olivia’s actions. But that didn’t make him give up.
Instead, he is going to try to get to know her better.
