No More Waiting, She Chooses Love

Chapter 655

Chapter 655

Yates whisked Fanny away from the hospital, leading her to believe they were heading to a hotel. But once they got into the car, he casually asked, "Is it cool if we stop by your place?"

Fanny paused, quickly catching his drift, "Oh, so you want to check if I've got other guys hanging around?"

"Not at all."

Right, Fanny thought sarcastically. As if she'd believe that. It seemed jealousy was a universal trait in men.

No sooner had she scoffed to herself than Yates added, "I just don't want to be treated like just another guy."

Fanny fell silent. How could she say no now? Reluctantly, she led Yates to her apartment.

Her place was her sanctuary, visited only by her parents and her best friend, Lucy Hamilton. So, she wasn't worried about any unexpected discoveries.

As they climbed the stairs to her apartment, she opened the door and, instead of heading straight in, wrapped her arms around Yates's neck. Standing there without her shoes, she suddenly felt a lot shorter and had to stand on tiptoes to reach him.

"Carry me," she commanded.

Yates lifted her effortlessly, letting her cling to his neck.

"First things first, Yates," Fanny began, "the whole hotel drama was just for show. Lucy and I never took guys back to our room. We shared it, and I've never had another man over. Feel free to look around..."

"Yeah, I see," Yates said, peering over her head.

"See? No other guys here," Fanny said triumphantly.

"Then who's he?" Yates's question made Fanny freeze. Before she could process it, a male voice echoed through the apartment.

"Fanny, you brought a guy home?"

Turning around, Fanny saw a man standing in the middle of her living room, causing her to freeze.

"Who's he?" Yates repeated the question.

After a brief moment of shock, Fanny blurted out, "Uncle Matt, what are you doing here? Who gave you the code?"

She knew the answer even as she asked her mom was the only other person who could.

"You haven't told me who he is," the man, tall and imposing, walked over, eyeing Yates.

"He's my boyfriend." Fanny said as Yates set her down on the couch.

Jumping up from the couch, Fanny confronted, "Uncle Sinclair, you vanish for ages and then suddenly show-up? Why didn't you give me a heads up? Mom didn't mention anything either."

With Yates already

misunderstanding her, having

another man in her apartment-even if he was just her uncle-did not help matters. Especially since Uncle Sinclair was only a year older than her adopted by her grandparents.

"Your mom said you haven't been home in a while, so she asked me to check on you," he explained.

Fanny was speechless. If she wasn't visiting home, her mom should've contacted her directly, not sent Uncle Sinclair.

"I've been busy," Fanny managed to say. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

"Yeah, I can tell," his gaze lingered on Yates.

Trying to lighten the mood, Yates extended a hand, "Nice to meet you, Yates."

"Sinclair Anderson," they shook hands briefly.

Feeling the tension, Fanny asked, "Uncle Sinclair, are you in town for work or just visiting?"

Her uncle had always been

somewhat of a nomad, rarely

returning home for holidays. Her fondest memories of him were from their childhood, walking to and from school together until he moved away in high school.

"Work," Sinclair's reply was curt.

"Oh," Fanny said, sensing something was off, "So, you're staying in town now?"

Sinclair nodded, "Yep."

A wave of unease washed over Fanny as she looked between the two men, "So, you're staying... here tonight?"
