Chapter 7
Kevin but his tongue at Starlight Club, he didn't want to make a scene, and he couldn't pin down who Selina really was. The club had its rules- mutual interest was cool, but if one were shot down and still hassled someone, they'd just have to suck up the embarrassment. The bar crowd couldn't help but snicker at Kevin's misfortune
"You got rejected, Kevin Bad luck, someone teased.
"Ha' She tossed her drink at him, man! That girl's got some serious guts," said another.
"Selina' What are you doing here?" a shocked voice cut in
Selina just wanted to disappear. Tonly came to catch Lydia's live set. Now this bunch of nuances? she thought to herself.
That was Ashley making the fuss. She was all dolled up in a new red dress from Hermes and teetering on stilettos, with her old Chanel bag in hand and her hair well done. She would've stolen the show if not for the caked-on makeup that made her look like she'd popped out of a YouTube makeup tutorial.
Ashley was floored to see Selina. "A girl like Selina, without two dimes to rub together-how did she get in? Did she sneak in on the arm of a sugar daddy! she wondered.
Bus Ashley couldn't hide her green-eyed monster. Even in the dim, cool club lights, Selina was glowing, outshining Ashley effortlessly, Ashley had always seen herself as the superior one, but the tables had turned. Selina, still in her old, inexpensive clothes from her days with the Harvey family. now carried herself with a cool alluring grace that was captivating. She couldn't help but wonder, What's her secret, some magic face cream!
Kevin did a double take: "Selina you're Ashley's little country sister?" But this was no timid mouse; this was a rose, thorns and all.
Selina didn't give a damn about their soap opera She walked away, not bothering to give them another moment's attention.
"Selina Ashley started after her but got yanked back.
"What's wrong, Achley?" asked a smooth voice. Timothy Clark stood tall there, Mr. Moneybags himself in a fancy Armani suit that yelled eline"
Timothy, i... It's Selina. I saw her here. It's my fault she's not with the Harvey family anymore... Spotting Timothy, Ashley turned on the waterworks, milking it as she sank into his consoling arms.
"Selina" Timothy barely showed a wrinkle of concern, thinking of the old forgetable Selina. He tightened his grip on Ashley. "Don't cry, Ashley. You're the real deal, sweet and innocent. Selina's mess isn't on you. Don't cry, okay? You're breaking my heart." "But weren't you engaged to Seluna once?" said Ashley,
"Don't sweat it, Ashley. You know I only have eyes
for you
"Selina cut ties with the Harvey family? Kevin's mind raced, and he slipped off after Selina, quiet as a shadow.
Ashley, wrapped up in Timothy's hold, couldn't help the sly, cold smile when she saw Kevin trailing after Selina
Selina splashed her face with cold water in the bathroom and checked the time on her phone-750 PM. Showtime was ten minutes away.
The latest buzz from her messages chimed in-it was from Trevon. [You're moving in with me starting tomorrow for the con he had texted. Selina tightened her lips, quickly texting back: [Okay, but first meet me at the local government service center tomorrow, & PM You might just be useful.] She then shut her phone off.All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
Selina was going back with Lydia after the latter's show. She was all about living her best life-no room for any Harvey family drama tonight.
As if on cue, someone barged into the ladies' room, flipping the "Cleaning in Progress" sign with a click. There was Kevin, the dude she'd showered in wine carlier
"Seriously, I thought you were something, walking around with all that attrude. But turns out you're just a rejected girl from the Harvey family. aren't you? Unloved and cut off. You used the Harvey family name to sneak into the Starlight Club, I bet. And you dare to act superior to me? A princess with no one backing her. You should feel honored I'm even talking to you, I'ma Clark, after all Stick with me, and you'll have it all, Kevin said, ogling Selina with a slimy grin. His eyes narrowed as he rubbed his hands together, surprised that Selina was even more gorgeous than her youngers
sister
Kevin was well aware the club had no security cameras in the bathrooms, Given Starlight Club's excellent soundproofing, he thought this was the perfect chance to get Selina to bend to his will. Once he had her, he was sure she'd see him as her ticket to a lavish lifestyle. To his surprise. Selina stepped forward.
"Quitting already? What happened to your spunk? I thought you'd be more of a challenge... Kevin said, showing a yellow grin with smoke-stained
teeth
Wham! Selina's bont made a beeline for Kevin's privates. He crumbled, wheezing and gasping like a beached fish, all curled up in pain.
"You were asking for it," Selina snapped, delivering another swift kick to his gut.
Kevin gagged, spitting up his earlier indulgence, pain ripping through him, survival instincts kicking in. He uttered through gritted teeth, "How dare you do this to a Clark
Selina's foot slammed down again, this time on his face. After making sure he'd remember this lesson, she strutted out of the bathroom, not a hair out of place.
Then she stopped short. Standing there was a man with a gaze as sharp as steel, casting an almost haly light in the dimness. His profile, hit by the faint light, was nothing short of breathtaking "Trevon" she blurted out.
