Chapter 165
Chapter 165
It was a sharp piece of lobster shell embedded in the meat that they hadn't noticed while eating. Both Lauren's and Yasmin's lips were sliced open, causing them to yelp in pain as blood gushed out uncontrollably, making the scene quite alarming.
Oceanview Restaurant was well-equipped with medical resources. As soon as the staff noticed the injuries, a doctor was promptly brought in to stop the bleeding. After a chaotic flurry of activity, the blood was finally staunched, and the shell fragment was carefully removed from their lips. However, their fouths were then swollen, and their chins were a bright. angry red, making them look rather frightening. Selina quickly asked, 'Lauren, Yasmin, are you all right?"
You... How dare you, Selina?" Lauren shrieked, her voice trembling with fury and pain. "You did this on purpose, didn't you? The lobsters you deshelled for us were defective! I'm so pissed off... Ah, it hurts," Lauren snapped, but the pain from her wounds made her gasp in agony.
Lauren, please don't be upset. I swear I didn't do it on purpose. Who could've known there were shell fragments hidden in the meat? You and Yasmin should go rest and apply some medicine. It seems you won't be able to enjoy tonight's dinner.". Feigning innocence, Selina shrugged off their accusations. Even though Lauren and Yasmin were certain it was deliberate, they couldn't do anything without evidence.
The pain in their lips was unbearable, and they had no choice but to prioritize their injuries over teaching Selina a lesson. For women-like them, whose vanity outweighed everything, a scar would be a devastating blow. In a hurry, Lauren and Yasmin left the table, finally bringing some peace to the chaotic scene. "Silas, Viola, please continue eating. It's a pity that Lauren and Yasmin won't be able to enjoy this meal. Such a shame," Selina said.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
She picked up her fork and began savoring the food. At the side, Silas glanced at her, his expression stern. "Selina, you did that on purpose, didn't you? Both of them getting injured at the same time, and it just so happened with the lobsters you deshelled? Do you think we're fools?"
"Huh? Of course not, Silas. Please don't accuse me without evidence," Selina retorted.
"Hmph! Evidence? You claim it wasn't intentional, but anyone can tell the blatant favoritism here. Selina, don't assume everyone else is stupid." Silas was convinced that Selina wouldn't dare do anything to him, given that he was Trevon's granddad. However, by using such tricks to hurt Lauren and Yasmin, she was essentially slapping him in the face. After all, those two were members of the Hudson family brought there under his protection.
"Well, I didn't do it on purpose. Believe what you want. This food is too good to waste, so I'll dig in." Selina ignored Silas' rebuke and continued eating, thinking to herself how delicious the dishes at Oceanview Restaurant were. She made a mental note to bring Lydia and the others there next time to try them.
Silas sneered inwardly. 'So, this is how it is? Selina, you're showing your true colors, disregarding even me now. However, at the thought of how much Trevon cherished Selina, Silas decided to hold back. If he could win Selina over, it would be easier to maintain a good relationship with Trevon. "All right, Selina. I believe you didn't do it on purpose. Let's eat. What do you like? I'll get it for you."
"There's no need, Silas. My mentor once taught me that if someone who dislikes you suddenly starts being nice, it's because they want something from you. I can manage serving myself food." Upon hearing Selina's words, Viola almost burst out laughing but quickly suppressed it, while Silas' face darkened immediately, taking Selina's words as outright disrespect.
"Selina, I don't need anything from you. Why would I? I'm Trevon's granddad, and he's the CEO of Insight Group and the head of the Brady family. If I needed something, I'd go directly to him, wouldn't I? I'm genuinely trying to get to know you better, to build a good relationship," Silas said, trying to cover up his intention.
"Silas, there's no need for that," Selina replied nonchalantly. "We're from different generations, and we don't know each other well, so we probably won't have much to talk about. Forcing a conversation would just be awkward for both of us. Since there's no mutual benefit here, if anything comes up, you can just talk to Trevon. But if you're hungry, I'm happy to treat you to a meal, and then we can all go our separate ways." Before Silas could respond, Selina stood up. "Excuse me, I need to use the restroom." With that, she left. Silas sat there, stunned for a full minute before slamming his hand down on the table. His face turned red with rage, veins

bulging on his forehead, and he clenched his teeth so hard they nearly cracked. He fumed inwardly, "That girl! She's going to be the death of me!' Viola couldn't help but admire Selina's ability to infuriate people effortlessly. However, as a daughter, she felt obliged to console Silas. "Dad, don't get so worked up."
"How can I not be angry? Viola, you heard what she said! She's completely disregarding me! I've never been so disrespected by someone younger in my life. She says she's going to the restroom, didn't she? I bet she's probably laughing at me right now," Silas raged. He was so enraged that he clutched his chest, struggling to catch his breath. Upon seeing how infuriated Silas was, Viola quickly moved to his side, gently patting his back. "Dad, that's just the way Selina is. With Trevon doting on her, she's bound to be reckless. Please, just avoid provoking her in the future. Haven't Lauren and Yasmin suffered enough already?"
"Provoke her? Is that what you think I'm doing? I'm Trevon's granddad! We're family! Am I not even allowed to meet his wife? Viola, this is all your fault! Everyone told you not to divorce Samuel back then, but you insisted. And now, look at this mess! Your son whom you gave birth to is now someone else's. He'd been influenced negatively by a vixen, and now, the Hudson family is being bullied," Silas raged.
Viola silently rolled her eyes. Once again, the blame was being laid at her feet, with her 20-year-old divorce dragged up as the root of all problems. She was tired of it.
Suddenly, Viola felt a pang of envy toward Selina as the latter had the freedom to cut ties and decline anything that oppressed or displeased her. Viola had once thought herself independent and proud, divorcing Samuel despite everyone's objections, knowing full well what she wanted in life. She had pursued her path without hesitation. In doing so, she had freed both herself and Samuel, but it was her son, Trevon, who had suffered. Now that she was back in Sokovis, she found herself still tethered to the Hudson family, driven by its interests.
With a sigh, Viola comforted Silas until he finally calmed down. However, his mood quickly soured again. "Why is Selina taking so long in the restroom? Go check on her!"
"All right, Dad," Viola agreed, eager to escape. She headed to the restroom, relishing the chance to take a breather. Once there, she immediately lit a cigarette, taking a deep drag. As she exhaled the smoke, she felt a wave of relief wash over her.
