My Sweet Lawyer Wife

Chapter 17 No Sense of Security

It was … Peter?

Peter was standing straight and leaning to the side of the lift. Seeing Adriana, he snorted, “I underestimated you. You are even living under him in order to seduce him? Well done.”

With one hand covering her stomach and one hand holding the handrail inside the lift, Adriana, whose stomach was in pain, clenched her teeth and stood up straight, “As long as you can keep your promise, I will move out tomorrow.”

“You’d better be.” said Peter.

After that, there was a moment of silence.

The two stared at the screen in the lift as it descended floor by floor. Adriana walked out when it reached the ground floor, and Peter went to the negative ground floor. His car was parked in the negative ground floor car park.

Adriana stumbled and reached for the wall, nearly falling to the floor in pain when the lift door closed.

She leaned against the wall for a while before walking out of the block. Shivering in the cool night air, she gathered her clothes and stood by the road to wait for a taxi.

However, no taxi would pass here in the midnight.

Then she took a few steps ahead and tried to cross that red street light to make it easier to get a taxi.

But at that moment, she fell on the ground and was unconscious.

Peter drove out of the neighborhood and saw Adriana afar. He snorted, thinking that she was still trying to seduce himself.

Seeing her falling on the ground, Peter was startled at first. Then he thought that her appearance was too coincidental.

When thinking, he had already passed Adriana. Peter glanced her and went away.

But when he passed through the traffic light, she was still lying there.

“Damn it, you’d better not be putting on a show!” Peter turned the car around and drove toward Adriana.

Getting off the car, he walked to Adriana and found her lying motionless on the ground.

Peter frowned. He raised his foot and kicked hers, “Hey, stand up. What kind of tricks are you playing?”

But she was still lying there.

Then Peter realized that something was wrong. He knelt down and patted her cheek, “Adriana? Hale?”

There was still no response.

“Damn!”

With a low curse, he picked her up, placed her in the passenger seat and buckled her in.

And then he went to the main driver’s seat and drove straight to the hospital.

When they went to the hospital, Peter left her directly to the doctor in the resuscitation room and turned around to leave.

“Hey, hey, hey, where are you going?” said the doctor when seeing him leaving, “You have to pay!”

Peter froze and said coldly, “I don’t know her!”

“Are you joking? Will you send her to the hospital if you don’t know her? Hurry up and pay for her!” The staff didn’t listen to Peter at all and directly urged him to pay the fee.

Peter frowned, looking a little angry.

However, he paid for Adriana and went to the doctor again.

“You are really an irresponsible husband. Her stomach is already bad, and you let her drink so much alcohol. Now she is in a stomach bleeding. Something worse may happen if you come later. Young man!”

The doctor reprimanded Peter as putting Adriana into the resuscitation room. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.

Standing in the corridor, Peter was intended to leave when he saw the light of the resuscitation room. However, he was a little guilty and stayed there.

But the doctor didn’t come out for a long time.

Was Adriana’s situation serious?

It took another hour before Adriana was wheeled out of the emergency room.

“She is okay now. Your wife’s stomach is not very good. She can’t drink alcohol. It’s easy for her to get alcohol poisoning.” said the doctor.

“Alcohol poisoning?” Peter knitted his brows, feeling quite helpless and speechless.

The stupid woman! Don’t drink if you’re sensitive to it!

Seeing she was still not awake, Peter patiently stayed in the ward.

Then his phone rang. It was Theresa.

Peter hesitated for a few seconds and answered, “Hello, Theresa.”

“Where are you, honey? It’s late.” Theresa asked gently.

Peter glanced at Adriana, who was still not awake, and said, “I’m busy with something outside, you don’t need to wait for me.”

Then he hung up the phone directly.”

He didn’t tell the truth in order to avoid Theresa’s imagination.

“Ho…” When Theresa wanted to say something else, he had already hung up the phone.

Theresa was pretty angry. Burying her head in the pillow, she screamed, “Ah!!!”

Why was he still so cold even though they had engaged?

Theresa was resigned to the fact that Peter would treat her like that after marrying her. She wanted him to look only at her.

Besides, she was only a fiancée, not his wife yet.

Sitting on the bed with her messy hair, she looked vacantly ahead. After a moment of silence, she took out her mobile phone and called someone.

“Hello, Miss. Lindsay, what can I do for you?” someone answered the phone.

“Keep an eye on Peter from now on. I want to know what he is doing and which woman he is dealing with. Make sure to tell me in time.” said Theresa, “Don’t worry about the fee. I won’t treat you badly if you do it well.”

“Okay.”

“Ah, by the way, can you help me get some philter?” asked Theresa.

“No problem. I can hand it to you tomorrow.”

“Okay, thanks.”

Then she hung up the phone, walked to the wine cabinet and opened a bottle of red wine. With a glass of wine, she walked slowly out onto the balcony alone and murmured in a low voice, “Don’t blame me, honey. You really can’t give me sense of security.”
