Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Wasn’t Loid supposed to be disfigured due to a severe illness?
This was far from being disfigured on the contrary, Loid was devastatingly good–looking
Shannon could barely breathe.
What had she done?
How could she have conceded such a handsome man to Lib?
“Do you need something, Ms. Martinez?” Loid gave her an impassive glance before looking away. He barely even looked at her. His expression hadn’t changed at all.
Shannon snapped back to her senses and said hastily, “My mother’s worried that Lily wouldn’t be able to get used to living here all alone, Lold, so I’m here to help her move in.” She glanced furtively at Loid’s face as her heart pounded.NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
He was so handsome–just how she’d imagined her ideal future spouse would look.
Loid hummed catly, then continued with his meal, noring her
He served Lily a bowl of soup
Lily looked too thin. He figured she needed more hearty meals.
shannon was furious as she watched Loid treating Lily kindly. She clenched her fists and gritted her teeth.
This could not be happening.
Loid was hers. She needed to get him back.
with that thought, she went up to Lily and said sweetly, “Lily, Mom bought you some new clothes and makeup supplies. I’ll bring them to your room for you, okay?”
Lily put down her fork. She perched one of her legs on the chair beside her and stared at Shannon with a smirk. “Sure.”
She pointed toward the stairs. “Bring them up yourself.”
“What?” Shannon stared at Lily in disbelief.
Did she really tell her to bring the things up herself? What did she mean by that? Was Lily treating her like a maid?
“You don’t want to? Lily picked up the bottle of beer casually. Her other an was placed idly on her perched leg.
It took Shannon all other strength to suppress her rage. “Mom bought a lot of things. I don’t think I’ll be able to bring them all in one go. Can you help me, Lily?”
“Aren’t you here to help me? Why is it the other way round now? Lily scofled rudely
“No, that’s not what I meant. I’m just worried that I would put things in the wrong places. I’m not too far with your preferences,” Shannon said. Something flashed through ber eyes, which she quickly concealed
“Ah,” Lily dragged out the syllable. “Sorry, I’m just a poor country g
thanks.”
ta poor country girl, so I’m not too sure how you upper class do things. Just place the things in my room however you like,
Loid looked u
dup at this. He had a small smile on his face.
Lily was smart. She managed to deal with her half–sister easily without having to resort to drastic measures,
Shannon was furious, but she couldn’t do anything in Loid’s presence. She needed to leave a good impression on him if she wanted to have a chance with him. She did not argue further and brought the things to Lily’s room herself.
All she could think of at the moment was Loid, so she didn’t bother unpacking the clothes, she just dumped the bags on Lily’s bed and went back downstairs.
Meanwhile, Loid smiled as he watched Shannon disappear up the stairs. “You don’t like her?”
Ully finished her beer and opened a second bottle. “Yeah,” she said with a wicked smile.
Lold stood up to toss her empty bottle into the trashcan. Then, he sat back down at the table. “When are you going back to school?”
He had been planning to get Shaun to check in on Joseph for him, but even if Joseph did not write a recommendation letter for Lily, he could still get Lily into Ember Creek High School with bis connections. In short, there was no need to bother Joseph stall.
If Lily said she had a recommendation letter, then Lold would make sure she had one. What the Martinez family thought of as a disgrace to their family was really an incredible asset to the world.
Lily was Shadowbane’s student. Just that identity was enough for most people to get onto their knees to beg Lily for help
