Chapter 6 Silence in Response to Change
In the Mitchell family, the atmosphere is tense.
Peter had just answered a phone call before pacing back and forth in the living room with a gloomy face.
Edith came back from outside with a puzzled face, “Dad?”
Peter smashed a cup in anger: ”That stupid Lexie! The pictures of the contract sent over to me are all fake! She must have been found out by Alan! I was surprisingly careless, and now the company’s stock market has dropped drastically, it won’t take long to lose more than tens of millions.”
Edith dropped her bag in her hand in shock and asked sharply, “How did this happen? Is there a solution?”Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
Peter thought with a sullen face and looked at her, meaningfully, “Edith, only you can help dad.”
“Me?”
Peter nodded: ”Right, Lexie married on your behalf should have angered Alan, that’s why he took such revenge on our the Mitchell family, but unfortunately, I’m not something he can take at will! Edith, don’t you like Diana’s son Kevin? As long as you can get Kevin on your side, I have a way to let Kevin get all of Alan’s property, and by then everything in the Howard family will be ours. Hehe … Alan dares to do this to me, I’ll make him pay a terrible price!”
“Dad, can you really get Alan finished?”
Seeing his daughter in a bit of disbelief, Peter sneered, “Of course, what are you afraid of with Lexie as a pawn? So you have to go to the Howard family as soon as possible, you can’t delay.”
When Edith heard that she was allowed to go to the Howard family, she instantly hesitated: “But Dad … I have no problem seducing Kevin, after all, he is brilliant, I don’t mind, but … if Alan, that ugly monster, treats me … what if he misbehaves with me? I heard people outside say he likes me, I’m afraid of being taken advantage of by him, dad.”
Peter knew her concerns and patted her hand to reassure her, “Don’t worry, you go to please Diana first, if Alan does something to you, you go and let Lexie out as a shield, Lexie will help you, besides, you can use Lexie to reach the matter with Kevin.”
Edith bit her lip in embarrassment, and for the sake of the family business, she finally agreed to do so.
When Lexie got up in the morning, she found that Alan hadn’t returned all night.
She was relieved, not knowing how to face him now, and not seeing him for a while made her feel a little more at ease.
She was sitting in front of the mirror, combing her hair, at this point, the maid burst in and, without saying a word, took her things straight out of the master bedroom.
What are you doing?
After Lexie expressed this meaning, the maid laughed contemptuously, “Mr. Alan said you will go to live in the side room from now on, and you are not allowed to go one step closer to the master bedroom from now on!”
Lexie was stunned.
She thought the man hadn’t pursued the matter further last night, but to her surprise he hadn’t planned to let her off easily and now he’d kicked her out of the bedroom.
Under the mocking gaze of the servants, Lexie carried her things to the most isolated room.
Since Alan forbade her to come near.
She just stayed away.
The entire the Howard family currently knew that she had been kicked out of the master bedroom, and everywhere she went, people were looking at her funny.
Even Diana looked at her with gloating eyes, as if she had already guessed that she would end up like this: “How’s that? the Howard family’s wife isn’t so easy to be, it’s not too late to leave.”
Diana was implying with every word that she should get lost, but Lexie continued to have her own way, as if she couldn’t understand her words, responding to all changes with silence.
Diana, however, gritted her teeth in anger, “You mute can’t speak, but your temper is stubborn, I’d like to see how long you can last!”
Since Lexie came to the Howard family, no one from the the Mitchell family has come to see her, not even to care to ask, and everyone can see that Lexie is not valued in the the Mitchell family.
This became the bottom line for Diana to justify oppressing her.
Lexie had no desire to dwell with her, and silently stayed within the side room, guarding her own acre of land.
But not long after, Edith suddenly came.
As Edith had just arrived, Diana coldly shooed her out: “You still have the nerve to come to our the Howard family? Please go out.”
Edith’s purpose this time was first and foremost to capture Diana’s affection.
She didn’t get stage fright, instead she acted as if she was bewildered, “I’m sorry, I agreed to let her marry here because I blindly listened to my sister, don’t be angry, okay?”
When Diana heard that there was something wrong in these words, her eyes glared, “What do you mean? Make it clear!”
